    My wife just bought me a Cleveland retrieve putter. Best putter I have ever owned. It is designed to fit in the cup and pick up the ball straight up. I love it. Rolls very smooth every time.

    great review! love the look of phantom 5.5, would it MOI be closer to the mallets vs is it really higher in the high MOI category? would my current gamer, SC squareback be in the mallet or high MOI catagory? looking to upgrade for more MOI as I get older, cheers! PS LAB df3 or mezz max didnt make your list?

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  29 днів тому +1

      Thanks for the feedback, appreciate it. Yes the 5.5 isn't as wide a body as some of the higher MOI models so it will be a little closer to the Squareback you mention.
      LAB were invited to take part in the test in the same way as every other brand, we didn't receive a response. They have however since invited us for a fitting so we should have a video on LAB putter soon.
      Hope that helps.

    I'm 59 and have had 6 low back surgeries so bending over is not easy. This retrieve putter is not just great for its design to fit in the cup without damage but the feel is butter soft and rolls smooth. Nice weight just a great putter.

    The and one and only putter that will hole more putts for you, isnt the newest, isnt the most expensive, isnt the one being raved about BUT the one that you feel totally comfortable with in your hands ans d your stroke.. I have had many many putters, newest, best and others but always always go back to my 196th0 Ping Anser Putter l found why caddying at the Country Club in Brookline, found it in the bushes off the 18th green. guess the owner wasnt happy with it. Just had a new ping grip put on it

    Nothing has changed in shape of putters from year to year.
    Let's be honest if you find a good putter stick with it over time. My current putter is over 15 years old, still rolls them in.

  • @dougsholly9323

    There are 2 reasons you miss putts. First is when your putt doesn't go where you were aiming. And second, you didn't aim at the right spot. I'd venture to say that the vast majority of missed putts begin with the latter, making the former fairly irrelevant, meaning even if you got a putter that helps you hit the ball where you aim it much more consistently, it won't really translate into strokes, because all it did is help you hit a more perfect shot in the wrong direction. Now, once you get very good at reading greens, THEN the better putter will make more of a difference. But that isn't most golfers. Certainly investing in a quality putter even as a beginner is a good idea. However, just understand that you may not realize its potential for a while. Who here has said "I just spent $200 on 'the' putter, and I am still 3 putting"? Manage your expectations.

    I am still using my Ping Fetch putter that I picked up about 2 years ago. I love that thing. One thing I did do Simon & Neil was to add the Golf Pride Reverse Taper round grip to it about a week ago. The addition is proving to be wonderful. Hands feel more relaxed and stable and I am nailing more putts dead on. Couldn't help but notice that Cleveland has a very similar fetch type putter here. I was surprised to see that. :) As always wonderful review by you two golf sleuths !!!!! Thank you guys. Joe

    If a golfer is using a claw / saw grip with their hands, to cure the putting “yips”, what would be the best amount of toe-hang angle?

  • @SteelTiiTan
    @SteelTiiTan 2 місяці тому

    I've been using the HB soft premiere 11 and found it just as good as many milled putters at a fraction of price. It does seem weird to have the "fastback" style head in a mallet section, other than slightly longer alignment lines the cg locations and feel of the putters are very much blade style (toe hangs as well)

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  2 місяці тому

      Thanks for your input Steel. Scotty refers to the Fastback as a 'mid-mallet with the feel of a blade and forgiveness of a mallet' hence the designation.

    Surprised the Mizuno MCraft didn’t make the cut
    I hit all of these for several hours and the MCraft 03 (double wide blade) with the heaviest weights earned my business.
    I previously owned an Odyssey Double Wide White Hot OG with the stroke labs shaft you mentioned, and cannot understand why anyone likes that insert.
    It feels completely dead off the face and controlling distance was frustrating.
    May I ask what you didn’t like about Mizuno’s MCraft line?

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  2 місяці тому

      It's absolutely not that we don't like the M-Craft, it's that there are tons of really good putters out there and not all can be winners.
      In the real world the M-Craft are pretty expensive for what is essentially a very basic putter to create. There's no insert (granted not all golfers like the feel of an insert putter), the head options are quite limited and there's no hosel options to dial any specific model into your stroke.
      Agreed there are some nice M-Craft shapes, but virtually all top putter brands make great shapes nowadays.
      Hope that helps explain our thinking.

      @@todaysgolfer I’d say that is completely understandable and I appreciate the response.
      At the end of the day I’m starting to realize my game was suffering from paralysis by technical analysis.
      Choosing a grip and putter I find confidential and instills confidence is arguably more important than whatever the tour pros are doing or buying into the flavor of the month technical improvements that golf club vendors come up with to sell new clubs.
      Not trying to downplay technical advancement but I’ve always gamed fairly basic blade putters, so maybe that is why the MCraft resonates with me and felt amazing in comparison
