CNJ 113 and R&N 425 at Schuylkill Haven Borough Days 2013 (in HD)

- On Saturday, September 28, 2013, the town of Schuylkill Haven, PA, celebrated their 25th annual Borough Days event - one of the biggest highlights of the day was the train excursions pulled through town. While the past few years had excursions pulled exclusively by diesels, this year, Reading & Northern 4-6-2 #425 joined the festivities to help pull excursions from Schuylkill Haven, PA to Port Clinton, PA and return.
Another late surprise to the party was the appearance of CNJ 0-6-0 #113 - the first time the engine has left the Minersville, PA area since it was brought into the town in the 80's. She performed marvelously on her first extended trip - and hopefully we will see more of her out and about in the future!
(EDIT: My apologies to everyone, I spelled "Schuylkill" wrong in the town name in the video - I didn't realize I spelled it wrong until after I posted the video. For everyone in the borough of Schuylkill Haven, please accept my apologies)
Thank you kindly!
Thanks, glad you like it!
Thanks a lot! There's no experience like it...
Thanks, I'm glad you like it!
Thanks - I agree, and I know a lot of others want to see it too!
Thank you very much!
Just south of Landingville, on Meadow Drive. And thanks!
Same here! Thanks!
Thanks a lot!
Great video! I wish I could've seeb it! Are you going to Reading & Northern's Autum Leaf train?
Very nice video!
Thank you very much!
Boy 113 bounces down the track like nobody's business! And 425 looks great as usual. She reminded me of 1218 when she got moving. Great video.
Thanks again!
We can all hope so!
That's something I'm looking into for the future - and thanks!!
Nice clean stack on the 113, beautiful restoration.
Can't wait to see it - and thanks!
The info was out there...either on RYPN or Trainorders are the places where I seem to find out...also Railserve as well.
She was hauling in both of those shots!
I'll probably be around for one of them...
I agree, they did an awesome job...
Thank you for such a great video!
Very nice video, Jim! Really bummed I missed out on this
Another excellent video!
I never saw autumn leaves fall in such glory before!
Yup!
Downright amazing video Jim! If only I'd known about this.....
Awesome video! I really hope they do some excursions with #113 in the future!
Jim, do you make any DVD's of your videos? This is some awesome footage!
Great job, Jim!
113 can really bark, I like to she what shes made of heading a frieght train haha. Great Video, 425 out of the shop is good too see.
Thanks! Somehow I never see myself in my videos. ;)
LOL - I was more focused on the steam than the leaves ;)
This was a last-minute trip for me, and I'm thrilled I could make it - thanks!
Nothing like Steam locomotives rolling down the track! That was terrific! Thanks!
Nice video! I like the number plate on 113 a lot more than the one that is on it now. I also love the whistle on 425!
From what I understand, the 113 engineer asked the 425 crew to let 113 do all the work...
He did say in the first shot of her "solo", I'm assuming he meant coming under the old railroad bridge to the crossing...
I know - I spelled it wrong (my wife caught it for me). Fixed it in the title/description.
good video, keep up the good job
Awesome video man!
425 doesn't have 1218's whistle specifically. It's most likely a replica whistle.
Goosebumps for most of the day for me ;)
Unfortunately I don't have any control over that... :P
Ummm...I was wearing a black t-shirt (logo on the front, name/website on the back) layered over a long-sleeve gray t-shirt - and I had a grey tripod...
I love that hooter whistle
That hooter whistle on 425 must be from an N&W A. They had one on C&O 614 for one of the Port Jervis trips back in the 90s when O.Winston Link rode the train.
yes it was amazing
Yea, they changed it once.
You missed a great time!
I'd love to have her in 1:1 scale... ;)
Hahaha I saw myself at 12:53! Nice video!
Was it an N&W hooter or was the Reading hooter that they used to put on 2102 sometimes? It's been so long I don't remember what the Reading hooter sounded like.
where was the shot at 8:23 located? great vid btw
yes it is my friend
now that people know that CNJ 113 is fully (or almost fully) operational, we probably will see her out on the High Iron more often now
The 113 has a really nice whistle
Awesome video jim!!!! for some reason youtube is not letting me upload yet!!
The "Seeb" word i wrote is actually seen! Sorry!
Not sure, I think the answer is somewhere below in here...
no, twice, first they had a N&W Hooter on it, then a NYC 5 chime, and then before it left to go back to Port Clinton, they had some 1 chime whistle on her, very high pitched i might add
Really? The sound of a whistle ruins it for you?
Central of New Jersery 0-6-0 No. 113 doubleheading with Reading and Northern 4-6-2 No. 425.
@ 9:31 i liked it speeding while whistling.
That was an awesome shot from my perspective - loud too...but awesome!
November 30th they are doubleheading the 425 and 113 again for the santa trips from Minersville to cressona, are you going Jim. I have details if you need them. Im actually part of Project 113 so I can help.
I know all the roads, out this way.
Not the doubleheader or 113. but in terms of 425's part in the doubleheader. The 113 is beautiful and sounds it as well. And that's one rare doubleheader.
Sounds like an anthracite whistle!
I accept your apologies for spelling it wrong. LOL!!
Goosebumps @ 5:20
yes, most people don't know the good spots in Schuylkill County
What whistle is on four and a quarter?
Did they change 425's whistle during the day?
i realized that after i posted that, but what i did post is true though, it just doesn't pertain to the comment it was posted on
they did announce both of them comming down in the Republican & Hearld, Pottsville's local paper...
wrong, in the double header, 113 was really doing all the work, even though 425 was technically the lead engine.
wait, were you the guy with the somewhat tan colored tri-pod? (11:29)
3:31 if you had panned over just a little bit to the left, i would have been in the shot
So the 113 got 425s whisthe and 425 got thw 1218s whistle?
Hey, didn't you have a grey shirt on and a tan colored tripod?
I wish you could bring some steam to "Steam" town.
any one know what whistle that is on 113
CNJ 3 chime
On 425 yes on 113 a CNJ 3 chime replica
113 burns Anthracite, or hard, Coal, which burns hotter and longer than bituminous, or soft, coal,
You should probably fix the title it should be Schuylkill Haven
Love the doubleheader but 425's hooter ruined it for me..
Thanks a lot!
I agree, they did an awesome job...
Thanks a lot!
Thanks a lot!
