Hello I have same job was wanting to order special timing tool I have never done this job but you make it look easy what happens if the flywheel moves from Mark how would you turn? With skrewdriver through same mark opening?
The camshaft timing can jump as soon as the crankshaft bolt is loosened. The crank gear is NOT keyed to the crankshaft. On this engine, the crank gear is only held in place by the tightness of the bolt and the diamond friction washers.
@@mechanical-MAT there is two types of range Rover evoque engine one from jaguar and the other one from Peugeot. This engine is from jaguar or Peugeot ?
This engine made by Ford has no keyways! The crank pulley has another pulley behind it with two friction washers when you loosen the crank pulley the chain can move and you loose valve timing even if you lock the crank. Even if the pistons don’t move. Terrible design! It might work but the if you had a running engine and loose the timing it’s more work to get it back. It’s also an interference engine so rotate it by hand before you just fire it up. Correct and most direct way to do this job is to remove the valve covers and the vacuum pump and the fuel pump. You also have to take off the end piece behind the vacuum pump. Lock the cams. Then remove the starter and lock the flywheel. Now replace the pulley loosely and friction washer. Install the holding tool on the new crank pulley and new bolt. Torque 100Nm plus 90degrees. Don’t touch the crank sensor position. Remove all your tools if you installed them correctly you are done. Roll it over a few times if you want just to check. Put it back together and clear the adaptations so it will learn the new pulley and any minor deviations in the position. Short cut this and you will either have to pull the valve cover and front timing cover or remove the front axle to get the timing back. No keyways it’s hard to understand what the motivation for this horrible design. Couple this with the horrible software that runs these machines. Not a hard job but it’s tedious if you don’t plan on using special tools bring it to a specialist or the dealer or you may have no joy when you’re done.
1 of 2 videos i watched with the same steps, Did this yesterday in about 1.5 hours. Thank you for saving me $$$
You welcome brother
Do you have a video of replacing the crankshaft position sensor ?

Good question....
Yes brother i can install it with same marks.....
So why i do the marks 😎👍
I have Land rover discovery sport 2016 2.0 liter . It's looks like same engine?
Yes it a same engine
Why one has to mark? Doesn't it just go in without needing to mark?
Is this for Land Rover Freelander lr2 2013 those parts ?
For range rover evoque 2012 turbo
Any errors after instalation? Like crank/cam correlation error?
No errors. No check engine light. No problems in driving....
Just did the procedure with the help of your tutorial..... Success.... Thank you so much
I dis every thing but it won't stailrt is there any code
Did u fix it?
What ended up happening here
Is this on drivers side or passengers side wheel ?
Passenger side
Thanks about to do one soon. 👍
Nice 👍

If you up piston to pmh. The camshafts can't jump. It jump if you remove the timing chaine. Thanks for comnt
@mechanical MAT hi what does pmh stand for?
@@jeffreycicero6685 The highest point reached by the piston
@@mechanical-MAT Thank you. That's TDC or top dead center.
Yes. Bro. I'm It wrote it in French 😁PMH. Point mort Hauteur
I did everything you did however the car started stalling when coming to a stop??? Any ideas?
You not did exactly
I do same all times. No any problems. You have to check computer scan
Could the pulley have came out of alignment when tightening the bolt?
@@rubengonzales6897 are you up the piston to pmh
@@rubengonzales6897 you have to tightening with air gun
When you use the air tool to loosen how is it not turning?
😎😎😎😎
@@mechanical-MAT if you can explain me…..
You have to do a good marks. After loose the puly you have to check all marks befor install the puly
@@mechanical-MAT yes thankyou, but when I am using the air tool to remove the pully bolt my pully is rotating
Hold the puly with your hand and your helper use the air tool to loosen. Also this bolt not hi locked
Very good and useful video
Thanks a lot
Good Bro
10q man i doothis job always loking the flywheel with removing intake and starter motor!!!
Is this on the drivers or passengers side ?
Steering in left side. Pulley in passager side (right side)
Very good
How can I put the belt on
Belt It's easy to instal
Hold the tentioner and instal the belt
@@mechanical-MAT can you please add a video on how to install the belt?
