    Just came across this video when I was looking at 8LDA engines and I got tuned right into it, all the sulzers up until the class 47 were great and I’m gonna see if I can bash one this year

      Class 37025 Inverness tmd oh yes do love a Sulzer loco !!! 33s are my favs, the 24s,25s,26s and 27s are also absolute monsters, Any of the Sulzers really are awesome pieces of kit.

    Well done Samuel, what a great film, a real testament to the locomotive class 33 . I was born in Gravesend and used to spot at hoo junction in the early 80s which was a 3 mile cycle ride for me as a teenager and saw plenty of this class at work and always loved em. They were reliable strong and always gave satisfaction to me in my watching of them. Keep up the good work . Lovely. Just lovely . -bud the painter-

    Nice piece of nostalgia for a former Ashford-London commuter! My favourite Class 31 memory dates from the 70s, when the Wednesday between two days of strikes found all the conductor-rails out of Ashford iced up - no de-icing trains overnight of course. I travelled on the only morning peak service to London run that day - a couple of 4CEPs propelled by a 31 on the Maidstone line until we reached some accessible juice. The 31 was not push-pull fitted, so intermediate stops were jerky, to say the least!

    Of course they did stray from the Southern Region, when they started working Cardiff - Crewe services in the early 80s. I grew up in Hereford so saw them all the time, though I did miss the class 25s they replaced..

    Well done for an amazing no nonsense insight in the iconic Class 33 !! .... Could anyone explain the two character headcode that the Southern Railway chose to adopt please - it has always puzzled me ? .... Thank you.

    Fabulous video just one point if anyone's wondering why some of the rolling stock have metal bars over the windows they were fitted to prevent passengers from sticking ther heads out of the windows in the narrow Ashford tunnels . Only one could imagine the consequences.

    Great Video, some really good sights and sounds. I would rather you hadn't talked over the 33 sounds. I love that straight eight exhaust sound so much. I enjoyed this and I've saved it to watch again.

    Engaging video, thank you. the 33s were never my favourite of loco, the 52 and 50 running neck and neck for me with the 47 just behind. Nonetheless, how I wish I could see them (with other BR diesels) still on the network hauling trains.

    Does it have any lights?

    • @matthew0605
      @matthew0605 Рік тому

      The 33s had small marker lights above the buffers, and later were retro fitted with the usual square spotlamp in the middle .
