When I started my journey into Blender, I was met with one headache after another, and was constantly referring to tutorials on UA-cam because the learning curve is steep. It's obviously gotten much easier now to navigate through Blender, but that's because of a combination of playing around with the software for over a year, and recent QoL updates. @@noisehead Glad to hear that you've found your perfect tool of choice! I used C4D back in 2002 as my first introduction to 3D. Wasn't too serious about learning 3D back then, but I remember it was comfortable enough to allow me to accomplish my task quite smoothly (an art installation video). Curious to see how it's omproved since then 😀. One of the things I'd miss from Blender would be the gizmo-less (optional) transform and the modes of operation. I know some people hate the latter, but I appreciate that it allows the reuse of the same hotkeys for different purposes (modes), among other things.
I think the most significant improvements to C4D are particle simulation and performance. After that I know that Blender has the advantage mostly because of the price. If only C4D had prices similar to Adobe it would be beautiful, but it is very expensive, and what can we talk about X-Particles, amazing particle plugin, as powerful as Houdini, but slower xd. Now... I will continue using C4D because of the compatibility it has with After Effects and Illustrator (Cineware), Blender and no other 3D program doesn't give me that.
It's obvious that this video is biased towards Blender, but it's a good video anyway. I work as an exhibition booth designer and I've been using Cinema 4D for over a decade, and I love it. I would like to switch to Blender, especially because I want lo leave Windows entirely, and Cinema 4D is what is holding me on it, but there are some things that I do in Cinema 4D that I (think I) can not do in Blender. For example, in C4D I can apply one or more images to a group of objects just by dragging a material to this group in the hierarchy, without needing to deal with the UV mapping of those objects. In blender I didn't find a way to do that as easily in C4D, and this makes a big difference in my workflow. I'm considering to install an older version of Cinema 4D though WINE so I can still work on Cinema 4D in Linux and use Blender for other things.
Isn't the Mac version of Cinema 4D quite stable? I would imagine on a newer M chip Mac, it would run fast. Not sure what renderer you use and if you need RTX for that. Then, that would keep you on Windows I guess.
Granted, you can't drag and drop materials onto a group/collection in the outliner in Blender, but you can drag and drop materials from one object to any other in either the outliner or 3D view. And for lots of objects, you just select them all, then shift select the one with the material you want to transfer, hit ctrl>L and choose Link Materials. Done. And unless the material explicitly requires UV's to work, you don't have to worry about UV's either.
C4D works on Windows, MacOS and Linux (Any distribution); so, i don't understand your words: "especially because I want lo leave Windows entirely, and Cinema 4D is what is holding me on" .....

It depends on your goal: Maya is used by most big companies doing character animations. 3ds Max is used by architects, interior designers and overall people that need to do Hard Surface Modeling. Both Autodesk products above also contain a very nice toolset for UV. Cinema 4D is used by motion designers also for its ability to link with After Effects Houdini is a powerful software for high quality VFX using nodes and proceduralism Adobe Substance 3D Painter is a Texture Painting software with tons of materials inside. ZBrush is THE software for sculpting. AutoCAD is a CAD (duh) Blender is used by small studios, rarely used in companies and mostly by freelancers-hobbyists, can do all of the above but with 1/10th of the power, which is all right sometimes. Keep in mind that most industry standard plug-ins, render engines and overall functions are not available here, and it is ok for the target, but later in the future if you want to join a company or a studio most of the times Blender is not used. This is what I've been in condition to understand, feel free to do your own research. Me my-self started with Blender and kept using it for 4+ years, and I regret not learning Maya before, but it's now my main software. My goal is Animation and game development.

Blender still missing light layers, advanced multipass rendering even basic light units are incompatible with real world units. Many basic things are overcomplicated. So for me Blender isn't ready for professional production work yet.
you could say on the thumbnail that I'm a Blender user, and saved me the pain of knowing Blender is easy its not, its 2024 Blender should join the simple world. so no c4d is easy to use.
whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?? prorender jajjaajjajaja so olllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllld how make comp without try the last virsion what about new partical system and pyro and toon character rig yooooooooooo come on you talk about r21 jajaja
I have been using C4d R13, R18, R22, i stopped there. its getting worse for every release, and i def dont like the new subscription crap that they are using. I have only tested Blender. but each time i just close it after i open it. the UI is awefull. just plain awefull. having that said. i see people do great work in Blender. And I want to move over to Blender as i am kind of fed up with Maxon. But starting to learn a new tool from scratch is a daunting task.
Video is literally spreading biased misinformation. C4D character rigging sucks, has inferior sculpting tools and doesn't have a fluid sim. Everything else this video talks about C4D does better. Pyro and the new particle system included. But it's one of the most expensive packages on the market and Maxon is very greedy. So that makes Blender awesome and worth it right out of the gate. Blender's parametric capabilities are dwarfed by C4D's. That is taking geonodes into account. Only Houdini and CAD software are better at parametric modeling and scene management. There is really no contest. ProRender is discontinued, now C4D has Redshift CPU built in to give you a taste of what additionally paid Redshift GPU is capable of. But Redshift CPU is still great and comparable to something like Corona.
Blender could benefit from a rendering engine like Arnold to compete in the movie industry. While I appreciate Cycles, there are times when its results can feel too artificial for my taste, especially in terms of capturing fine details. I experimented with RenderMan for Blender and found that everything looked significantly better compared to Cycles, from materials to textures. Cycles seems to hide its weaknesses better in darker, moodier scenes, but when it comes to creating truly high-end renders with intricate details and accurate material behavior, it's better to opt for something other than Cycles.
@@punmije Cycles has lots of cool features, great nodes that provide lots of control, but quality and realism are lacking without tricks. Arnold is great, I love it and it's my main engine these days. But Octane will always be my high school sweetheart. It's unbiased and based on raw physics as much as possible, a full, spectral path tracer. Octane is available for Blender and it has a 100% FREE option. It can have a distinct artificial look, but not to the level that Cycles has. It's definitely production and feature ready.
Blender sculpting tools are very good. In C4D this is just gimmick, and I use it more as modeling tools ( you don't need to switch workspace, something I wish that Blender have). For real - professional, fluid sim... better use Houdini or at least realflow. btw. You have Redshift for Blender... and Free Octane.
@@radoman1234 yep, Octane free tier is really cool. I have used C4D's sculpting tools for certain things (think sculpting fabric wrinkles), it's better than nothing, but for sculpting it's all about performance in my opinion and Blender has that dialed in, as well as just having more features. Curiously, outside of sculpting in my experience C4D's viewport and other modeling tools handle high-poly meshes MUCH better. Try selecting vertices in a 200+ million polygon mesh, Blender keeps you waiting and waiting between selections while C4D just does it instantly.
I agree with you. Blender community, for some reason will explain thoroughly over our problems, heck they even gave tons of tutorials for us to learn. While C4D.... Gosh, all they can do for us is keep telling us to "read the manuals" 🤦♂️
Cut this crap cinema 4d is better with all the tools and plugins it has. If you can't pay for the tool just keep using blender which in my experience no one uses at the production level. Can you compare cycles with redshift??? or X particles with blender particle system?? or cinema 4d simulation system??? In every sense cinema 4d is better at the production level. When you are working with companies like Nike they don't give a fuck with which tool you are working with, all they want is good quality and blender currently lacks in terms of quality.
Another lame video justifying Blender's 'Free' advantage. Its a good tool, but its not the ONLY tool. There's a reason why studios and professionals use Cinema 4D
If I am a professional CGI studio I would go for C4D, because it is not only that program, it is a complete ecosystem, like Adobe. Maxon has C4D, Redshift, ZBrush (which is still the best on the market for modeling) and last but not least X-Particles, which is on par with Houdini.
very superficial and biased - comparing such complex application in such way is nothing but underwhelming - it's clear you prefer Blender - and that's about it
Another video from "expert" without portfolio, just "Trust me Bro... I now ... thing... true story". In this case someone need strong portfolio with artworks in both software to have some credibility. In short, another YT money grab.
When we don't know what we're talking about, we don't make lame comparisons! You know nothing about cinema 4d and even less about the latest versions! Cinema 4d is much better on certain points than blender. Even its new particle system blows up that of blender. This video is nothing more than a laugh!
You are talking solely for beginners that will never earn their professional income nor will they develop a skillset that is valuable on production level. But yeah.. the amateur blender bias strikes again.
Showing a clip of a Cinema 4D course while describing the pro's in Motion Design in Blender was gold.

Consider Bforartists. It is a version of Blender with all the features plus an icon driven UI. it is a lot easier to use. All Blender add ons work in Bforartists also.
YES, it has limitations mostly due to the plugins. Blender plugins are free, and C4D plugins are worth a fortune xd
Its simple if u want free software Blender is the way to go. Cinema u gotta pay a monthly subscription
Someone please suggest me which software I should learn in 2024? ,is cinema 4D still worth to learn in 2024 at all?
it is, and if you really want to use your brain in full capacity get a Houdini and follow Entagma.
If you are really attracted to Blender, learn Bforartists. It is an easier version of Blender. It has an icon driven UI and with ALL the features of Blender. It also has tools and assets Blender does not have.
It depends on your goal:
Maya is used by most big companies doing character animations.
3ds Max is used by architects, interior designers and overall people that need to do Hard Surface Modeling.
Both Autodesk products above also contain a very nice toolset for UV.
Cinema 4D is used by motion designers also for its ability to link with After Effects
Houdini is a powerful software for high quality VFX using nodes and proceduralism
Adobe Substance 3D Painter is a Texture Painting software with tons of materials inside.
ZBrush is THE software for sculpting.
AutoCAD is a CAD (duh)
Blender is used by small studios, rarely used in companies and mostly by freelancers-hobbyists, can do all of the above but with 1/10th of the power, which is all right sometimes.
Thank you!
cinema 4d has done amazing updates. clearly you are not a devout c4d user
I have Cinema4D R26 and ,of course Blender.
I do Character animation, Blender beats C4D by every single measure in animating Characters
as well as modeling.
C4D is way overpriced for what it offers today.
@Red_Paper6495
I used C4D from version RDXL7 up to R26(with Vray).
Maxon has vastly improved the VFX side of things lately on cloth and particles
(RIP insydium).
The following will sound like Mandarin Chinese to you because you are clearly NOT a Character animator so go ask someone who is:
Where are the feature length Character Driven animation films made within C4D?
what are my C4D options (native or plugins) for facial mocap rigs with
IPhone or NIVIDIA audio to face or UE Livelink.
The “retarget tag” is a cruel joke compared to spending $29 dollars for an addon to retarget mocap the the native blender control rig from all of the major mocap systems like Rokkoko,Perception neuron etc. or buying the Autorig pro, rigging & retargetiing addon for $40 USD(Lifetime free updates).

So redshift finally got some NPR/ toon shaders?? LOL!!
We can do NPR/toon/comic shading in Realtime with Blender viewport render engine

What are the character animation pipeline export tools from C4D to the major game engines UE5 ,unity or even Godot
Right now the best Character animations you see in C4D are from people importing animated character from Daz or Iclone or Maya as USD.
Your comment only lays bare your utter ignorance about Character animation for films and games.

In the video titled 2024, it's great to show C4D's interface in 2017. But let's face it, Blender's new interface is pretty good.
Blender still missing light layers, advanced multipass rendering even basic light units are incompatible with real world units. Many basic things are overcomplicated. So for me Blender isn't ready for professional production work yet.
Nop cinema is esiest
so blender ?
Nice
you could say on the thumbnail that I'm a Blender user, and saved me the pain of knowing Blender is easy its not, its 2024 Blender should join the simple world. so no c4d is easy to use.
Is it possible for Cinema 4D to create Artificial Intelligence for the user to write a text and the character performs the actions in the text?
You may want to check out Mootion or Cascadeur for that kind of stuff.
whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?? prorender jajjaajjajaja so olllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllld how make comp without try the last virsion what about new partical system and pyro and toon character rig yooooooooooo come on you talk about r21 jajaja
He definitely switched from C4D to Blender at r19 so he has no idea 😂
UA-cam es excelente pero también se encuentra gente q sube cualquier cosa. Este vídeo es fallido. Cinema 4Dnes excelente, muy caro, pero fantástico.
C4D community is so dead and unhelpful, blender community is by far the most inclusive in the 3D space, making it easier to learn and ask for advice
I'm so sorry, who stepped on you foot. :)
@@MegaBexon your foot*, if you’re going to try be petty online be able to spell :)
Anybody willing to sell me their perpetual c4d license
Another lame video justifying Blender's 'Free' advantage. Its a good tool, but its not the ONLY tool.
There's a reason why studios and professionals use Cinema 4D
There's also a reason why studios and professionals use Blender. :D
It's a mix of both, tbh. Some companies have adopted Blender because it's free lol
If I am a professional CGI studio I would go for C4D, because it is not only that program, it is a complete ecosystem, like Adobe. Maxon has C4D, Redshift, ZBrush (which is still the best on the market for modeling) and last but not least X-Particles, which is on par with Houdini.
You know nothing about both. Stop doing trap talk
very superficial and biased - comparing such complex application in such way is nothing but underwhelming - it's clear you prefer Blender - and that's about it
the 2 software can't be compared. It seems that you don't really know C4D ! so you are totally wrong ..,
Cinema 4d e uma porcaria e não e grátis
Another video from "expert" without portfolio, just "Trust me Bro... I now ... thing... true story".
In this case someone need strong portfolio with artworks in both software to have some credibility.
In short, another YT money grab.
When we don't know what we're talking about, we don't make lame comparisons!
You know nothing about cinema 4d and even less about the latest versions!
Cinema 4d is much better on certain points than blender. Even its new particle system blows up that of blender. This video is nothing more than a laugh!
Cinema 4d procong is insane.
very bad comparison. you have a bias.
You are talking solely for beginners that will never earn their professional income nor will they develop a skillset that is valuable on production level. But yeah.. the amateur blender bias strikes again.
