I've been trying to think of a way to make a temp sun shade for my driveway where I can detail my cars and not get roasted alive, I never did consider pvc piping. Ty! You may have solved my issue.
This is perfect!!! I love this so much!! I was looking at the sharkshade on etsy for $400! I am in desperate need of portable shade in the summer time working with my father! He is teaching me HVAC and restaurant refrigeration and coil cleaning! All of this is endless hours on the roof tops of restaurants! And when do compressors burn out? On the hottest days! I needed something lightweight, can sling on my back going up and down ladders. Would be tall and wide enough for us to both stand under as he is 6'3"! So i can customize this to my needs! I will definitely be gluing some of the connectors on and also making the bottom 3 sides solid and connected as well so it is free standing! Our freon tanks, torches and tools will easily hold it down in high winds! This is fabulous! I can't thank you enough!!! Im so thrilled!!
I built it tonight! It cost me about $90 but I made it 6'5" tall for my dad and 6 feet wide so we can both fit under it standing up! I also made it 4ft in depth, so we can keep rain sensitive equipment safe in the rain or if we want to sit down! I did use a tarp instead of your pretty fabric. I know you are all about sewing and material, but a tarp suits my needs better when dealing with harsh chemicals and grime! I can't thank you enough for this idea! I searched for days to find a suitable store bought solution and could not find one! Thank you again sooo much!!!
This is the product we used, www.onlinefabricstore.com/dritz-1-4-inch-large-nickel-eyelet-kit-.htm We just ran out of stock, but we have more coming in early next week.
Why don't we use old bed sheets to make a portable sunshade which can be washed and take it back indoor after using it shading the sun? 1in x 1in x 8ft woods can be cut to fit your sheet size perfectly and build a frame for a bed sheet sun shade.
You can use clean boiled oil to double coat on the bed sheet and the wood frame as well as a weather proof after fully dried. Most boiled oil will be fully cured in 24 hrs and each coat can be added after 12 hrs, so the two coats process will take 36hrs.
You could glue one end of the small connects to the appropriate pole. It would keep you from losing them and make one less step in assembly.
LOVE THIS IDEA. I honestly have started to leave them on the poles anyways, but gluing them would be really smart!
