Excellent lecture - thank you. I love the word Satchidananda - Eternity, Knowledge, Bliss - the 3 Attributes of Krsna. Contemplation is such a wonderful word. I had a very dear Swami of mine on a Satsang many months ago say, "why is the word Practice more important than the word Knowledge?" I LOVED this when I first heard.....
Knowledge by itself is only Knowledge - but Practice is the Expansion of Knowledge....so very important when it comes to Transcendental Knowledge - Again, a wonderful lecture and breakdown of what can be so difficult for so many to understand how easy it is to become lost in decades of Maya and how to break this veil of ignorance 🙏🙏🙏
Jia Satchidananda Jia Sri Krsna Jai Swaminarayan 🙏

i am confused by the raga/dwesha strategy ... so when the mind says do it or dont do it, we should do neither? Even if i ignore do it/dont do it thoughts .. wouldnt i end up doing one or the other by default? By definition doing it = doing it but not doing it = not doing it it. Sounds like youre screwed no matter what.

It is helpful to recognize that, in Advaita Vedanta, our mind is viewed as merely an inanimate instrument which may be used by us to cognize and to experience the world. So, when a desire or aversion arises in our mind, we must use the same mind to decide whether acting on that desire or aversion would conform to our true non-dual nature or violate it. In other words, we must decide whether acting on that desire or aversion would demonstrate our recognition of the oneness of everyone and everything in the world or whether it would demonstrate our ignorance of that truth. If it is the latter, then that desire (or aversion) is a raga (or dvesha) which we must ignore (i.e., not act upon). However, if it is the former then acting upon them is fine. Restated in devotional language, we must not act upon those desires and aversions which militate against our oneness with Ishvara. That said, Swamiji’s detailed discussion of raga and dvesha in his Bhagavad Gita videos may better answer your question, especially as it applies to everyday practice of this discipline.

Always important to be reminded of raga and dvesha, the two boss demons. Yes we just have to ignore them and always remember that everything in this world is transient and as Sri Krishna says of not much value. I would disagree that on the outside you can't see inner divinity. Eyes are for sure mirrors of the soul, and we can see from human eyes so much including the inner divinity when manifested. Thank you Swamiji. Om Shanti! 🙏

so ... we ignore all wants and aversions?

@@luismiguel69able Hi. Well, it is not so black and white. We will always have preferences once in the human body, so nothing is wrong with treating yourself or avoiding something that is not pleasant or good. The trick is to stop being impulsive with wants and aversions, not to jump every time they give orders, but to employ intellect and to follow deep intuition. Hope this clarifies a bit. 🙏
