Dr. Lewis is far too eager to shoehorn murderers into her favourite diagnosis of DID and to dismiss the much more likely possibilities like secondary gain through an insanity defense and the frequently manipulative and lying nature of people with severe antisocial personality traits. She also seems unaware of high comorbidities of unstable personality structure in criminals, leading to histrionic and borderline traits which can be mistaken for supposed DID. It is a leap for her to say that DID is linked to most serial killers and murderers. If anything, their high frequency of antisocial personality traits posits they would be more likely to feign such personalities, either for actual gain, or just for its own sake and she fails to consider the very strong likelihood that Letitia Staunch was deliberately faking having alters.

Seems to be that Dr Lewis’ theories are very outdated…I’ve no doubt that maybe 30/40 years ago some of her work and theories were probably well researched and valid…however a lot of research and science has occurred since then.
I found it frustrating that Dr Lewis wasn’t overly familiar with the finer details of this crime…every other Dr that has testified so far seemed to know everything about the case…the crime scene evidence, the autopsy, the taped interviews, collateral information etc…this Dr was stumped by certain questions and was forced to embarrassingly answer ‘I don’t know’ or ‘I didn’t know that’.
I found myself cringing throughout her entire testimony.
The prosecutor has been criticised for being too tough and aggressive on this Dr but let’s not forget…an 11 year old child was brutally murdered in his own bedroom…the prosecutors are Gannons voice. Quite right that they’re tough on this nonsensical insanity defense.

Same scenario here, again trying to convince someone that it wasn’t premeditated, when no one asked her if it was, but she knows that it’s totally obvious that she did plan it!! "Famous nut-job suggests" is the better phrase. When I listen to talking-head psychiatrists and psychologists, I always have this feeling that NO ONE NEEDS THESE SERVICES more than the professionals themselves. They all seem to juggle stances as often (or more) than their so-called wacko clients. And hearing Dr. Lewis repeatedly say, "I don't know this or that" about Letecia and her lying, her criminal conducts - it makes me want to ask, "Dr. Lewis, have YOU disassociated yourself? You had so many hardcore opinions yourself for so long and YOU expressed surprised when your 'first' experience occurred - are you SURE you still are self-associated?" Her rebuttals to her own studies say, "She has D.I.D. herself." What a perfect choice, therefore - to know one it takes one.

Sadly this old old woman doesn't know when to gracefully leave the stage. I'm 60 and find her rambling to be suggestive of a slower grasp on what is happening around her...
