Those darn home inspectors out there keeping us busy… I love it.
That’s why Square D are my favorite. Both the QO and home line are quality.
I’ll have a few HOM upgrades coming up soon.
I bought a house in 2019 with a home inspection that stated “ one half of receptacle in living room not working “. I went to a hallway switch, flipped it up, and amazingly the receptacle now worked!
True story!
Blew my mind when i first learned this. Lots of guys dont know it and i tell them whenever it comes up
That’s the idea. We’re all on the same ship as electricians. Just different cabins. 🫵
I love home inspectors 😝
Sorry, but I do not get it… is this double tap situation when you are combining 2 circuits that respect the circuit load percentage? In certain regions double tapping is simply not allowed no matter the situation. Please if you can explain in more detail. Thanks
We just add another breaker..and charge for it. Just to speed thing up
Awareness is important.
Always a big QO fan. My go to equipment. Home inspectors are a dime a dozen and not up to existing codes , imho.
QO is way overrated for the price. It's just OK.
QO is an outstanding product. Their circuit breakers have dual magnetic fields to clear faults quickly. That’s the advantage. HOM as far as I know does not have that feature.
@@electricalron QO and HOM are the same breaker internally. Maybe QO is a good choice for commercial and industrial settings, simply because of the number of accessories available. But in a residential panel, using QO is just throwing money away.
@@electricalron just the QO type I used. Never had issues etc. even large switch boards were really built well and reliable.
while some manufactures make and list breakers, neutral and ground bus bars for having two wires, I don't think the NEC recognizes or permits it anywhere.
I know everyone did it and some still do and get by with it or the real bad practice/violation of landing neutral and ground under the same lug. I've seen many panels that way and even them loose with back-feeding live ground conductors, sometimes through a big loop of splices and grounding now functioning as a neutral conductor. scary business really.
Is there much difference between a homeline and a Eaton BR panel? My eletrican said was having trouble finding homeline panels and was wondering if I would be ok with an Eaton panel.
Eaton > Homeline
@@electricalron a lot of the comments I see say squard d homeline is better. Why do you say Eatons Br is better than homeline?
Even if double tapping is allowed by the manufacturer, it should be avoided if possible. Just add a $6 15A breaker and move the wire. It can be done in a minute.
Why would you bill a customer for a repair that isn’t necessary? Not a good business decision if you ask me.
So what was the customers issue ?
Home inspector flagged the two double-tapped breakers....but with SqD Homeline it is permitted and the breaker is listed for up to two conductors.
@@mxslick50 this ^^^
Are all square D homeline the same ?
@@1percentSolutions23 Yes..and no. The conventional Homeline breakers are all the same, and double tapping is a listed use. (See my comment about tandems below.) As for the GFCI and AFCI, (I haven't used any lately) I would think that those cannot (or should not) be double tapped, as that would adversely affect the sensing functions of those breakers. I believe that many of the later QO line standard breakers are also listed for double tapping. (The skinny tandem QO AND Homeline breakers are not as the terminals don't use the pressure plates as shown on this video. )

The pretend electrician (House Inspector) fails again!
