Interesting test with the impact I always thought 10 seconds in full reverse was the line in the sand for torque breakaway testing
and if it didn’t remove it in 10 seconds it was considered a fail
so all the compressor really has to do is deliver enough air to run an impact for 10 seconds I would’ve thought...

Great review and channel 👍🇺🇸...if your in the Milwaukee platform, it’s ok...As a professional framer, remodeler, finish carpenter...., no. ...Like you said , no dual regulation. Smaller tank. Large footprint. As far as decibel rating ,slightly better the dewalt but smaller tank and much larger footprint. Any trim guy looking for a quiet compressor is buying a Rolair or Cali compressor. Night and day from this Milwaukee compressor.
Most finish carpenters still use pneumatic nailers. They are 1/3 the size and weight and last much longer then cordless. For a DIY guy or punch list , cordless nailers are great. I don’t see any benefits having this compressor other then it’s in the red family. It’s bulky, less gal size, less features, same air output as Dewalt. The Dewalt works great, quick ramp up, quick recovery, bigger tank, 10lbs less weight and hundreds $$ less.
So you know, in the real world of building homes, finish carpenters usually put the compressor in the cellar or garage and run a large diameter hose into the house. Then branch off that with 1/4 hose usually plastic for light weight. Noise is not an issue . Maybe in some remodeling jobs or office work, noise plays a factor.
Great to have choices though...

This is not the tool for that! It would have been a 30 minute video. An inflator would pump up a tire faster than this air compressor IMHO.
@@WorkshopAddict yes I know I have the Milwaukee M12 inflator and I keep it in my truck but I'd like to put one in our utility truck for airing up flat tire or something like that and it just doesn't have the capacity I was hoping that this Milwaukee M18 version would suffice for that

@@WorkshopAddict I dont think so. This unit is much more powerful than m12 inflator. I thing that would be an easy job. I used similar but corded compressor to inflate truck tires and it was enough for that job.
1.2scfm at 90psi so try and guess how many cubic feet are in your tire and thats how long itll take, i have 37" tires on 16" rims on my jeep so alot of volume but i run them at 25psi on the road so im sure itd have no issue on that.. but for 350$ i could have a brand new tire and rim mounted and delivered to me for the one time i might need it
Kinda glad I didn’t wait for this. I needed a small air compressor for just compressed air. Ended up with a harbor freight unit for a little over 100 bucks. Sure the battery/portability feature would of been great but the price....
The fact thst this doesn't have a hose pressure gauge makes this a no go. Sometimes Milwaukee amazes me with some of the things they miss.

My dewalt flexvolt compressor is a little awkward to carry, this looks like a good design, maybe someone will do a battle between these two
They are two very different compressors. IMHO, Dewalt would win. Yes, the Milwaukee carries well, but that is about it.
Really interesting, these batteries supply a ton of watts on the high torque impacts, more than what my ARB twin compressor does, yet is about 1/3 the CFM of it.

I mean, it’s a 2 gal compressor. It looks like it does what a 2 gal compressor is suppose to do and not do. The thing that kills it is the lack of competitive features and that price. I’m fully bought into the M12 and M18 platforms and this is still and incredibly hard sell.
I agree. I expected it to be California Air quiet. It is not. I expected a gauge for output pressure and there was not one.
@@WorkshopAddict I have a 1-gal and 2-gal CAT air compressor, and the Ryobi 1-gal. I have not used them for a long time because the cordless nailers are just too convenient and the tanks are too small for any other use.
It's too expensive for what you get.. pretty simple.
Man I don't know wtf they were thinking. I guess it would be good to blow out/,off your tools after cutting brick or concrete. Otherwise , my $349 will be spent on something a little more diverse.

I think a simple solution to the power issue, truthfully, would be to make a larger version that can use 2-3 batteries. This is a good proof of concept similar to that Makita robotic vacuum deal, and it's expensive as proof of concept models tend to be, they just need to expand the system.
So... 1-2 extra battery ports for more versatility would be great and I doubt it'd make a big difference in price or size. Also, add a cord and make it able to charge the batteries when not compressing. Sounds like a winner to me with those features.

Rather spend the money on a nailer for the price. It would last longer than the compressor doing work. I know dewalt has their version. I'd like to see a comparison because I know a lot of guys that run the dewalt compressors on job sites and love it for the small jobs

I have had mine since release and mine has out lasted 3 nailers.
What's the purpose of building that compressor if they make almost all there tools run off of batteries. My opinion waste money and R&D. They should be updating the 10 inch miter instead. Great video like always. 👍

I think it's a comfort thing. Some air tools are still much lighter/smaller than their battery equivalent, thus allowing to get into tighter spaces This is for those people.
Realistically, this tool sucks at inflating tires much larger than bike tires. This is really made for the pro contractor who does not like battery finish nailers and needs a potable solution for a compressor.
and what's the point of cordless if you're running an air hose anyway??

I could see using it for door handles, but with a blow gun on it you might have 10 seconds of use before it is drained.

Between that and a 12aH battery you're better off buying a bigger AC compressor and a generator is you absolutely need air. Red teams new nailers spit out three nails a second so that's a hard sell.
The M12 inflator is .63 cfm @ 35 and this is is 1.2 @ 90 so I'm not sure why you would be better off using an inflator to pump up a tire.
Because you can walk away while your inflator fills you tire to the correct psi. As long as you do not run longer than the duty cycle, you are all good.

LOL. This was not designed for that and it would fail miserably. It is a one gallon tank, you cannot expect it to fill a tire.

Can a Mytivac pneumatic fluid extractor be used for vehicle oil changes?
Some vehicles it can be used on, others it wont get all of the oil out of the sump. Depends on the engine.

You NEED a larger compressor. Framing nailers take 4 cfm, this is 1.2

From my experience those 60 volt dealt battery don’t hold a candle to Milwaukee 18 v high output batters

But the recovery time would be painful and you would most likely be taking it below 90 psi while in use as it could not keep up.

You could expand the usage but the recovery time would be extremely long. So you might get into a situation where you were low on air due to usage very easily.

It could build the pressure to seat most car and light truck bed but wow, it would take a LONG time and blow through the duty cycle.

I have the m12 inflator. I had 3 blow outs on my trailer. I swapped tires on rims after the spare was on the trailer. And had to use the m12 inflator to fill the other two tires up from 0 to 80 psi. Got one tire done and started on the second one. And it over heat. ( I was using 6 amp hour batteries). So I want to know if this compressor do a better job in the same situation. ? .

This is basically what I planned on using it for too. While I don't really air up/down my 4x4 tires because I trailer it everywhere it still would come in handy should I needed to, and I'd planned on running my air lockers off of it. Can't justify it for that price though. I'll just keep my Co2 system.

Up here north of the border this unit is $450 Canadian for the bare tool.. that's insane.
Couple observations - it's design while basic looks incredibly poor and not thought out well. No output gauge is a fail. 1.2cfm @ 90psi is also pathetic. This thing reeks of cheap chinesium parts and a lifespan of a couple years before they hit the landfill. That pressure dial gauge is stupid as well. Milwaukee had a chance to put a multi volt compressor out on the market and be innovative, instead they choose the copy the competitors route. Where's the packout version? This compressor is a "me too" product instead of being a revolution to air compressor portability. HARD PASS here Milwaukee. Plus I've already built my own tough system compressor in a tote that stacks with all my boxes. Looks professional, functions perfectly off the power station along with any other corded tools I have. you will get two fires of a framing nailer before the compressor turns on. If you shoot the third nail right as the compressor is turning on, it will not sink it fully. IMHO, no, it is too small for that work.

Small staplers also, but pretty much, yes, finish nailers only. Framing, sheathing and roofing nailers in general need 4.0 cfm and 4-6 gallon tank of air.

Neither are good at inflating tires.
I'd recommend the M12 inflator for tires. I use it for pressure testing gas and water lines up to 100psi. Was so impressed on that front, I bought a second one to keep in the trunk, tops my tires from 25-37 in less than a minute each. Truck tires take a little bit, but I pair it with a small pig tank and it seems to help with volume
Buy the DeWalt 20v inflator, DCC020IB. It's cheap, usually around $99 and you can pair it with any 20v or 20v/60v battery. The 12Ah DCB612 battery will fill a monster truck tire (not really, but you get it). It also can run on 12v DC or 110v AC.

Has anybody that owns the cordless air compressor filled a 5 gallon or 15 gallon tank with it?
I know this is not what it is meant for but I'm wondering how long it takes to fill it.
My real world application would be filling my bait cannon at the beach and this would save me from having to haul a compressor and generator. I already tried the m12 inflator and it overheats after 20mins and tops out at 65psi
You would exceed the duty cycle of this unit also and it would have a short life. It would take a very long time to fill 5 gallons let alone 15. The Dewalt 2.5 gallon FlexVolt will still be slow, but a much better tool for your application.
I'll have to look into that one. I may buy both and plumb them in together so it's less of a load on each one.

Every single compressor review we do, many people ask if you can run a small spray gun. So, after answering tons of questions about it, I figured I should bring it up.
maybe spraying a wood treatment onto fence posts that are getting direct buried back in the field, theres one use off the top of my head.. ill be running an inverter and 120v compressor in my rig for any mobile air needs but im sure there are trim guys and other neiche market fellas that are well bought into the m18 lineup and were crying for this tool, im sure it wont be a best seller but atleast they can say they supplied a decent unit to the few that wanted it, the price on the other hand is not justified but im sure youll be seeing it for 350$ with a batt and charger in no time

Crazy overpriced. Maybe a kit with an 8.0 and charger but bare tool thats nuts when this has same specs as Dewalt and dewalt gives you a kit for $299 and can be found cheaper (got mine for $199 a couple yrs back). As with several tools i got tired of waiting on Milwaukee (my main platform) and bought something else.
People have been asking for this for yrs and here comes Milwaukee dragging up the rear with a tool that has a higher price, less included with tool, and only equal specs to the competition that came out almost 2 yrs ago. Day late and dollar short Milwaukee.
Agreed on the price, bought my DeWalt for $179 (also on sale for $199 and a $20 off $100 DeWalt code). I even sold the DCB606 battery and DCB118 charger for $100, so I basically got the compressor for $79+tax.
All the big brands trade off between leading and lagging though, it's just part of the game. Both Milwaukee and DeWalt need a coffee maker like Makita...

Absolute waste of money and time. Should have made a bigger version of the M12 style in a M18 platform for bigger tires faster inflation, higher pressures, longer run time Sell it for $159. Faster inflation, 4x4 guys would love it. Outdoor people would too make it run off 12v outlet in a vehicle.

Milwaukee miss three things on this compressor. 1. No output gauge, 2. Pricey and 3. Not packout compatible. Come on Milwaukee you drop the ball on this. Give us a massive recall, LOL. ....
Now saying all that. I purchased this air compressor from a guy on offerup after he used it on a project. I got it for a heck of a deal. He made his money for what he needed for. I used it on a outdoor fence project which i used my air crown stapler. It work great and heck i made money off this unit in one project plus the purchase of the unit. So i feel i scored both ways. I have to say it's way quiet then the DeWalt. I used my 12ah battery for the fence project and i only used one bar for the whole day.

I know many who do not like battery operated nailers and still use a compressor, but they want a feature packed compressor.

$350 without the battery! So that’s another $200 if you want the 5AH battery + charger which you’ll need if you don’t already own other Milwaukee tools (and I don’t). At $550 (or even at the $350) this tool is very very overpriced. Even for Milwaukee.
Just buy a corded one for a 100 bucks with 3x the power. Too much money for an underpowered tool.

JaredMcCloudTJW A/C is obviously not going to be completely obsolete, just less relevant. I do think new houses in the future will all have those USB outlets/ 120v combinations. Any serious tradesmen who wants to go cordless should have plenty of extra batteries. I have around 10 of the M-12 batteries and Half a dozen m-18s. Even running the grinder for hours at a time I’ve never ran out of batteries. The other ones charge fast enough that it’s not a problem. If I’m on a job site with no power I can charge the m-12s in my van or have all of the m-18s pre-charged from the shop.
