    This is yet another good episode for this series. It's a shame that in this series they came up with the age limit just to balance Akihiko. I mean think about it if he had Ceasar he would be stronger than the entire new team combined. Also here's another thing that lowkey bugged me. The series literally only having Akihiko and maybe Ken if you believe in the Inui theory, to connect persona 3 with trinity soul.

      I think overall that was fine. You've got Akihiko, the Persona suppressors, dealing with Apathy Syndrome and man-made Personas. I'm totally cool with Trinity Soul focusing on its own story and characters rather than just having a bunch of P3 stuff show up.
      I'm even fine with Akihiko not just showing up and being the ace in the hole that solves all their problems. I like that he plays more of a supporting role. I just...I mean...it would've been nice to see Caesar at least once XD

      @@strain42 I think it just a bit of wasted opportunity but overall I don't hate Trinity Soul for choosing to shy away from persona 3's characters/story to focus more on it's own. But yea I would have liked to have seen Ceasar at least once.

    It's funny, the idea of Akihiko (or any of the Shadow Operatives, except maybe the MC and Koromaru for obvious reasons) starting up a new Persona-using group to fight Shadows is a good one, but it all gets thrown out the window and into a burning dumpster with that "age limit" thing. If they left that little wrinkle out, I think the series would've still been considered canon, at least in some capacity.

      True, but at the same time the age limit is the only reason we even HAVE a story. If that hadn't been a thing, then Ryo and Akihiko would've just already had an elite team of trained adult persona users and Shin 'n Co. wouldn't need to get dragged into this at all.
      It's an incredibly weird rule to have in the overall lore of Persona, but I do get it for the purposes of Trinity Soul.

      @@strain42 I don't really agree about the age limit being necessary to the story. I think they could get have found a legitimate work around, like finding adults with Personas or the potential to develop one being MUCH rarer than teenagers or youths in general, so having an entire team of adults in law enforcement get shut due to practicality of not finding a sufficient number instead of finding no one who could hold onto their Personas into adulthood could be a possibility. True, this would bear in mind the idea that Akihiko should then be able to summon his Persona, and that could be possibly be even more storybreaking than Abel's special ability, but that could be balanced out by his limited ability to summon it. Heck, even in the games, he could only summon it in short bursts during the Dark Hour and in the TV World for single attacks before having to effectively reload (the latter of which wasn't even a thing yet at the time of the show), so perhaps it could be argued that due to his specific circumstances, summoning Caesar in the real world is something he learned to do over the past decade, but it requires an insane amount of stamina each time he does so. In addition, a similar line of logic could be used in Marebito's favor, for due to many teenagers still developing their sense of self compared to adults, it may be easier to rip out the Personas of youths as opposed to those who are older.

    Although Akihiko said the age limit thing, he did say there wasnt a specific age limit, just that when you mature you eventually lose the ability to summon. you-know-who wasnt very mature, and Katsuya was probably forced to awaken by a-different-you-know-who

    Age limit excluded, this episode is pretty okay. I actually had an idea for a fanfiction happening in 2017 about Marebito's Sumaru City branch getting wiped out. But I decided to exchange them for Phantom Society

    I want to see two things one in my heart this is canon even though it conflicted with adachi in a different Persona user but also Mark he could technically make it Canon because of his reality to control like

    Okay I could be wrong with this, but the age limit thing reminded me of the character, Takaya Sakaki. Wasn't he a adult in persona 3? I will admit with being wrong with this, but seems like an oversight on the series really.

    • @strain42
      @strain42  4 роки тому +6

      I honestly have no idea how old Takaya was, but even if he were an adult, the one exception in Trinity Soul is adults can still use their Persona IF they are taking the suppressors, which Takaya definitely was.
      But considering characters like Ikutsuki and Mitsuru's Dad were able to be active in the Dark Hour without having a Persona, it's entirely possible that this rule existed in P3 and was just never addressed. The Answer tells us that the Kirijo Group was able to artificially create "Potential" even if it never resulted in a Persona. None-the-less, that rule is plenty contradicted by Personas 1, 2, and 4 (though to be fair, 4 didn't exist when this series came out)

    Hm, this is more of a fanfic thought experiment than anything, but if someone _really_ wanted to squeeze this into canon, then they could say that the 'age limit' is actually a misinterpretation of a different occurrence, for the sake of this thought experiment let's call it 'Persona Stagnation'. All the main games and the Q titles feature Personas evolving relatively soon after being awakened, while the arena games feature the P3's casts Personas having stayed in the same form for years. So if one wanted a different explanation, they could say that if a person's Persona stays the same for too long it begins to stagnate and decay until they can't summon it any more. Of course those who can visit the Velvet Room don't have to worry about this because they can change their Persona at will, but without anything to push their Persona to evolve, other people will steadily lose the ability and since most users gain their powers at around the same time, it appears to be related to age.
    This is of course still just a fanfiction work around that I came up with in around half an hour.

      If you can find the DVDs that's always an option, but honestly I think there are fansubs of all the episodes right here on UA-cam.
