  • Green Beret and Army veteran Ray Knell was a broken man with PTSD and severe anxiety when he returned home from Afghanistan. His trust in humans was gone. A friend introduced him to backcountry horsemanship, and the wilderness and animal relationship gave him hope and peace of mind. To inspire others to use wilderness and horses to overcome their struggles, Knell embarked on a 1,000-mile ride along the Continental Divide with Mustang Sally and two mules, Top Gun and Magic. Filmmaker Ben Masters joined Knell through Yellowstone to see the grandeur of our country’s first national park and to witness the importance of conserving wilderness to heal ourselves.

I have been a lover of our four-legged friends since the day I could walk and talk. I understand the love of our four-legged friends. I have rescued dogs since I was a little girl. I have had three magnificent loving and loyal Dobermans in my life. My last two Dobermans were rescues. And when my dogs have departed there is always a hole in my heart and a loneliness in my spirit for the loss of these treasured loyal and loving friends. I even dream about them. I have always loved horses. I am a Vietnam era veterans. I served in Philadelphia Naval Hospital when I was in the Navy. I too have been diagnosed with PTSD. It hit me about 20 years ago. It was triggered when I was visiting The. Wall. I understand and believe in what you do. I wish I could help and partake in your journey. My best to you. Please contact me at my email or Facebook address. All of my blessings to all of you.

To all of our veterans those currently serving those that have served and the far to many that we have lost I thank you for all that you do and have done. Without you we would not have all that we have or all that we have accomplished. It is your many sacrifices and for some the ultimate sacrifice that has and does make our nation the great country that allows us to have and enjoy all that we do. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU.

Very touching..."I have something in my eyes right now...makes it hard to see, wish I had my horse banjo looking after me" "He is somewhere in the Yukon that last time I was there, I stopped to see my very best friend and get covered in his hair" I will see him soon again and hope he remembers me as I still love that old horse who looked after me. Ocean star -- many people are deficient as people. I've always thought that a person who could not relate to an animal in a personal way was lacking humanity in a certain sense

Charles and Mary Goodnight were instrumental in repopulating Bison in Yellowstone. They were also the first ranchers to cross cattle with bison. They understood the importance of protecting and keeping a pure herd. Bison from their herd was selected and shipped up to Yellowstone. I am certain that Charlie would have a good solution to the wild horse issue. Charlie Goodnight tells in his journals about arriving in Texas when he was a young boy. His very first horse was a mustang. I hope that the same dust under his boots ends up in wisdom under your hat.
