I JUST REALIZED THE STORM IS THE FIGHT WITH POSEIDON OML In the vengeance saga Poseidon hunts Ody down to the shores of Ithaca (Get in the Water), and they have a fight in Six Hundred Strike, which would probably cause that giant storm, which Penelope assumes is a sign in the challenge OML
Huh...I always assumed it was the storm from 'Storm' since they were so close to Ithaca when Poseidon attacked, but that actually makes a lot of sense too!
@@L-ghtlessSky Anticlea didn't commit suicide. She died of grief for her son, technically. However, it would be more fit to say she wasted away, as it's quite hard to literally 'die of a broken heart'. Probably impossible. I wouldn't know because thankfully, I've never died of one. You could be thinking of Aegeus, the father of Theseus. When Theseus left to go kill the Minotaur, Aegeus had bid him to hang a white sail on his return journey to signify he was still alive. Theseus beat the minotaur, of course, but in his joy forgot to raise the white sail and returned with the original black ones. When Aegeus saw them he thought his son was dead and threw himself off a cliff in sorrow.
Fun not so fun fact@@JuliaW-u7u : one can die of a broken heart, it's even the name of syndrome where excessive grief (stress causing strain on the muscle responsible for pumping out blood) litterly breaks (or rather tears) the tiny things/fibers of it causing death or in the mildest cases PAIN>
just a detail i noticed in Hold Them Down: during the line "as we share her spoils", you can hear a little violin bit. the violin/viola is associated with Penelope, so my belief is that that violin bit actually represents Penelope's screams as Antinous would feel it: music to his ears. Also Ayron's voice is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!!!
the viola is in the same tune as when odysseus sings no - the viola is the key instrument that plays in the background when penelope appears - the viola tune is penelope saying 'no'
10:33 HES DONE THOSE THINGS 😭 He made Poseidon cry (through the torture) to get home to his son. (With the help of some gods) he literally captured wind and sky to be able to make it home
I know "Would You Fall In Love With Me Again" is meant to be the big emotional finale and climax to everything that's been building...but goddamn, I can't help but get more emotional at "I Can't Help But Wonder". It's just beautiful.
Some of that might be that it's more complete in what we have, this happened with the underworld saga where we didn't have the heavy part of the first two so "monster" seemed easily the best. It might also just be something you can relate to more, maybe you're more familiar with the parent dynamic from "wonder." For me, the polites portion of underworld hits harder than when Anticlea shows up because I have lost friends but, thank God, not a parent yet
@@chiliiCh Yeah honestly as one of the fans of this musical who is an actual fan of "The Odyssey" I think the reason I love it so much too is that it is like THE Penelope song. It encapsulates everything about who Penelope is as a character perfectly, her love and loyalty to Odysseus, her cleverness, and her desperation at the developing situation. It's fantastic.
It just hit me that “waiting” has the danger motif because Penelope will be in danger soon. Odysseus’s mom also died after “waiting” so it hits harder 😮
Im loving the combo of Odysseus, Athena, and Telamacus instrument motifs it works so well and hearing Athena’s “Quick Thought” when Talemacus is killing the suitors is peak for me, love the attention to details in epic
here I though I only had a crush on Teagan's Athena. That first verse of Penelope was very adorable. Especially the giggle after she says how she unthreads the work she's done like she's proud at how clever she's being.
you might know this now but, that part is actually a callback to Survive, where the essemble chants polyphemus's name as it chants odysseus's in this song!
you might know this now but, that part is actually a callback to Survive, where the essemble chants polyphemus's name as it chants odysseus's in this song!
I burst out crying when the last music was from “Just a man” 😭😭, it shows how much he went through since the beginning and has been thinking about her ever since 😊❤❤
One of the best part for me in last song is callback to "Just a man" At 12:48 its just insane I cant help but wonder how this song will sound as final version
I think the reason Antinous talks about Penelope at the last part of Hold them Down and not the first is because all that stuff about hurting Telemachus and taking the throne was really just his way to get the other suitors to work with him. He really just wanted Penelope, more than anything else and more than anyone else. (Commented this already but that was on an older short)
I hope SO BAD that in the just a man reprise it's not "I'm just a man," but instead, "I'm still a man," I think it would hit so much harder after his character arc of becoming a "monster" that it concludes with him realising that the "monster" is now just a part of him and the "monster" is still a man despite everything it's done he'll never lose everything to the monster in him, rather the monster and the man work in unison as one man: Odysseus.
Can anyone else hear when just a man plays at the end these lyrics. "Just a man, who's finally come home, now after all these years away from what I've known, just a man . . . " that's all I got, but it sounds so good! I think would work really well :)
I’m just a man, who’s finally made it home, even after twenty years away from what I’ve known. I’m just a man, who’s fought and won his life, now I will spend the rest of it with my son and wife. I’m just a man.
Nah, now imagine this; the crew survived, just to watch their king slaughter their kingdom for daring to threaten his family while they're off to the side like- 👀🧍just stand there awkwardly watching the blood bath 😂 I feel like secretly they'd be rooting for their king too.
Hoo, alrighty, I'm going to bawl my eyes out with the last saga huh? Already had a cry hearing these snippets of Challenge and I can't help but wonder :')
@@aadityayanamandra8846 I hope so. I really like Wonder as well and I'm sure it will be fantastic. Jorge also said we might get a cut song saga so we might get to hear Royal Wisdom Burst much later.
@@aadityayanamandra8846 tbh this one part in King/Odysseus is what makes me think Athena isn’t dead. Unless this is implying that Odysseus has taken on the role of Athena…
Just noticed theres only 3 other songs that has just someone's name as the title, and as a lyric: Polyphemus, Scylla, and Charybdis. The haunting chorus is also sung the same way in "Po, Ly, Phe, Mus" but Odysseus's is faster "Ody, Sseus" Truly his most monstrous song!
WAIT at like 8:13 if you listen to the piano- IS THAT THE HARMONY FROM THE ENDING TWO NOTES FOR "CAPTAIN, CAPTAIN" ?!?!?! Danger motif final two notes, I recognize that harmony! That sounds exactly like the harmonies when the crew cries "CAPTAIN! CAPTAIN!" in Ruthelessness! If that's what's happening after Telemachus tries to offer mercy, does this mean that Ody kills them in front of him and Tele gets to see the monster Ody has become and that's why it's so dramatic?!
I thought I got emotionally damaged during the underworld and wisdom saga, but NO! ITHICA SAGA WILL BE THE DEATH OF ME AND ILL BE THANKFUL FOR IT, MY TEARS WILL RIVAL THE RIVER STYX ONCE THIS COMES OUT I SWEAR 😭

In I can't help but wonder Odysseus says "Used to say I'd make the storm clouds cry for you...used to say I'd capture wind and sky for you...held you in my arms prepared to die for you" and in storm (the song) he is making the stormclouds "cry" in a sense because Poseidon made the storm because he was sad/angry at Odysseus so it is kinda crying. And in keep your friends close Odysseus (or Aeolus if you're being technical) puts the storm inside the wind bag which is capturing the sky and winds. And "prepared to die for you" is just obvious all throughout the musical, but "held you in my arms" made me think of Odysseus holding Astynax (son of hector) in his arms and the literal first lines of just a man being about how Astynax reminds Odysseus of Telemachus. Anyway yeah saga sounds AMAZING.
While the uploader is right that you're thinking of Royal Wisdom Burst, I'm almost certain she will end up with a role in Odysseus, based on the original myth.
