I SOOOOO wanted that Rotatrim when researching chipboard trimmers, but just couldn't justify that cost so I went with the Procision instead and I absolutely LOVE it. Thanks for re-schooling us!
A self sharpening cutter is great thanks Jim its always good to get the best tools you can afford and a cutter is one you will use every day big love marc
Thank you so much for introducing me to the Rotatrim cutter! My Fiskar's Procision (my fifth try at getting a decent cutter) disappointed me with frequent fuzzy cuts no matter how careful I was. The Rotatrim is the bomb! Perfect cuts every time.
Thanks so much for taking time out to educate us crafters!!!! I really enjoy your back to basic segments &I'm constantly learning new things!!! Thanks so much ((: !!!!
Thank you for showing so many ways, at so many price points. I don't cut as much chipboard as you, so for now I am alright with the craft knife or rotary cutter, but if I did it regularly I would invest in the guillotine or the last rotary cutter you showed.
I would always use a glass cutting mat as it gets a better cut or you use a self healing mat but they can drag and not give a good clean cut hope that helps big love marc
Thanks for sharing! I am always checking out the cutters! The last one I got has a metal like string to show where the paper is lined up.I really like it! Vivian
Ooooooh, I need the Premier cutter. I wanna cut like butta! :o) Or maybe that Rotatrim. You're the best. I'm still using the ruler and blade but it's always off. I am going to have to go shopping. You're the best Jim. Thanks.
Thanks for the awesome tips on cutters! I have a Fiskars rotary cutter that my Mom-in-law bought years ago. I really like it, but it's sometimes hard to find the replacement wheel blades.
Hello Jim, may I ask which Rotarim you are using? There are so many different ones. In Germany I find the Rotarim M20 Pro. It appears that you are using a different one. Maybe you could give a hint. Many greetings from Dusseldorf
Jim on a rotary cutter do you cut going away from your body or do you push down and cut towards your body there are two schools of thought on this to which gives the best cut and stops the rules going of line after awhile, I find cutting away from me making sure the paper is butted up tight to the top of the cutter as it gives me more control big love marc
is something wrong with my Fiskars precision trimmer because when i tried to go through my heavy chipboard with it i could barely move it and had no hope to keep it straight because i literally had to push withal my weight its brand new is it faulty or is gentlemen crafter really strong lol im six foot one and an athlete i figured maybe it just wasn't up to the challenge but im thinking i got faulty one
Hola Jim, I'm planning to buy the procission by fiskars, I live in Mexico and it's really an issue to get from USA, so I want to be sure is a good purchase, do you recommend me that? I love to construct with chipboard thanks 😀
I need to cut two windows in medium weight chipboard and I can't find a solution. Right now a use a mat cutter but my cuts tend to slant. Any advice on something that might work?
I have a Rotatrim Professional M15. I work primarily on mini albums and for one album I had to cut the bottom of a very large envelope 1/4". I could not do on the Rotatrim because the ruler starts at 1 1/2". I had to revert to my Fishers which has a small platform on the right side and go to the 1/4 mark to cut it. My question to you is: how would you cut 1/4" off of an envelope (the side opposite the flap on the Rotatrim with having to measure the size of the envelope)? If there a way to do this without having to measure each time you need a small strip cut from something like an envelope that is about 9". I have posed this question to Rotatrim but they have not gotten back to me. I was very disappointed that there was no information included with the trimmer when I purchased it. I had to contact Rotatrim in the UK and ask them for some kind of brochure that would give some information on the trimmer, upkeep, etc., and they said this is the first time they have ever published a 4 page brochure which tells you absolutely nothing about the cutter. They make the cutter so that it can be used right out of the box. Not something you would expect for a cutter costing $235.00. I'd appreciate any assistance from you. I do use the trimmer with the cutting rails on my right. Thanks again - Marianne Petralia
It's an old question, but maybe I can help someone else with this answer: If you want to cut 1/4" off from a 9" envelope....Just measure the other site. If the end of the envelope reaches the 8 3/4"- line...you cut 1/4" off your envelope on the opposit site.
@@carolineagterhof751 -I was thinking the very same thing as I was reading Marianne's thought on the Rotatrim. I do it all the time. Especially when I have to cut 1/8 trims.

Hi. Love your videos. Hope this isn't a silly question. When using your craft knife what prevents it from cutting your mat?
Thank You Jim, good information TFS~~

Like buda. Lol. Thanks for this.
do you have a trick for cutting slots in the chipboard so that two pieces can intersect? I'm looking for a more efficient method
