Terrific video! I really enjoyed watching your ranking. They've been my all-time favorite band since Ass Cobra released, so that retains a highly nostalgic ranking in my book. I too adore hard rock and heavy metal, but I've also always loved more abrasive and low-fi punk rock. Apocalypse Dudes blew everybody's minds at the time. I was just finishing high school, so I associate that record with excellent fun with great friends. First time I saw them perform live was for their Scandinavian Leather release tour. Subsequently seen them four additional times. No joke, their live shows can't be recommended enough. As far as their recent releases with Tony Sylvester / Duke of Nothing go - I love them too! Like yourself, Rock N Roll Machine has skyrocketed to my very top. I've listened to it more than any other new album in the past fifteen years, by a very wide margin. I was very grateful to have me t the entire band back around 2005 at a record signing. They were all incredibly cool guys, very approachable and down to Earth. Thanks for making this video!! I'm happy to report that the band has a grand reputation and warm reaction within the LA metal and hard rock scene. Whenever I wear one of their shirts in public, I invariably meet another new fan. Amoeba music maintains a Turbonegro section in their store to this day. Cheers!!
Wow! Always great to hear from other TurboJugend army! And to think i thought i was the only one here in Canada... Now i hear some from the USA! :) Ya, i found their last album to be a great bridge for people who dont know them and want to introduce them to their music! Glad to hear they are down to earth also! Thank you so much for watching! :)
I don't know this band but I'll definitely be checking them out. Thanks for highlighting lesser known bands although I know it aint great for views maybe, Haha! As for that album RockNRoll Machine foldout, you mentioned the John Carpenter song, that looks like an homage to his 1995 film VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED. Look up a pic of those kids with red eyes and white hair.
Views have been good for lesser known HAIR metal bands, believe it or not... i think views are low right now due to Canada having a world wide outage with internet, cellphone and Interac with ONE provider (luckily i'm on the other provider)... and good call for the RnRM foldout... ya that does look like an hommage to Village of the Damned... :) Good catch! Thanks for watching!
A band thats big in Norway is like saying a band is big in New Zealand. Who's heard of that place!. Enjoyed your Turbonegro video, I've got the feeling it could be my next band discovery. Very informative I think this info. could help me one day in a trivia quiz or somesuch thing. Trying not to be critical, but maybe you should replace your chair its very creaky. Also on your right back wall maybe display a poster. Of a 80's movie, have you heard of an actress Jennifer Connelly, I hear shes good. Best of luck for your channel.
We've all heard of Norway and New Zealand! I have good friends in NZ! :) For me, the "good" Turbonegro is from Apocalypse Dudes and on... the ones before a VERY DIRTY punk... (but maybe you like that stuff)... Yes, would have been good to listen to before a Quiz :) Oh, I know about the chair... I been shopping around to get something good (and not on sale and cheap like this one)... As for that blank spot on the wall, I was thinking of putting up a flag/banner there... ;)
Haha, picking a Non-Hank-Album is quite a statement, but very cool. Thanks for this nice video. I got into them in 2003, when Scandinavian Leather was released. I was 13 years old and the Video for F*** The World was in heavy rotation on german MTV. They seemed so cool and dangerous and I loved the music. I bought the album and it was one of the big albums of my early teens. Through them I then discovered early Alice Cooper and also Poison Idea, which is a great Punk Band, that heavily influenced the style on the album Ass Cobra. Unfortunately I never saw Turbonegro live, but they surely left a mark on me and I was sad, when Hank (May he Death Punk with the angels) passed away. :( Did you ever check out his two solo-albums from 2018 and 2020? They are no masterpieces but definitely very fun listens for Hard Rock Fans, I'd say. Anyway... Cheers to you from munich, germany!
Hahaha! Thank you for the nice compliment and for watching! The first time i heard of Turbonegro was the video for "sell your body to the night" and then went out and bought "Party ANimals" as it was the only one available at the store here.... I never did try Hank's solo albums but been meaning to... i will get around to it! Thank you from Canada for watching in Germany! :)
@@offthecharts2272 Thanks for the nice reply. One more thing I think you might find funny: Once you realise, that the strings on Scandinavian Leather sound very much like ELO, the whole album suddenly transforms into a slightly heavier version of that band led by Jeffy Lynne. :). Do you have any recommendations for albums similar to Scandinavian Leather / Party Animals? Cheers again!
@@Trelkovsky69 Similar to Turbonegro? Or Turbonegro albums similar to Scandanavian Leather/Party ANimals? - I'm also noticing the string a different way now that i'm listening to "Wipe it till it Bleeds" (that title always made me laugh) :)
@@offthecharts2272 Oh, sorry for being unclear. I know all Turbonegro-albums rather well. :) I'm looking for Hardrock-bands similar to Turbonegro, especially their album scandinavian leather.
@@Trelkovsky69 None come to mind at the moment... they kinda have their own distinctive sound and funny lyrics... but as soon as i find some, i will let you know! :)
