As a couple of the other comments said: thank you for a balanced view on an important subject. Throughout the bible and especially in the Old Testament, God's promises of riches, wealth and prosperity were always predicated on obedience to His commandments and statutes, such as in Deuteronomy 30: 15-20. What some may call the existential crisis is that we have the free will of choice - As Joshua said, choose this day whom you will serve. However, the cross and blood of Jesus Christ the Lamb of God has graciously given us His mercy and grace to walk in His Spirit and overcome and be free of the law which resides in our flesh, as we prepare for Him to come as the Lion of Judah, Son of David, King of Kings.

Let's see what the Bible says about the prosperity gospel. Matthew 25: 25 25] And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.
[26] His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:
[27] Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.
[28] Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.
[29] For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.
[30] And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Thank you Dr. Macchia for a very fair and balanced view on this controversial subject. As a Word of Faith apologist I have said for many years that there is a place for a biblical teaching on prosperity, and that this is more a matter of priorities than theology.

By creating prosperity, wealth, riches and abundence we can contribute to spreading the Gospel. Doing this by being a bondservant to Jesus will be fruitful. Being poor of spirit or any other lack contradicts the word.

Sal somebody: “Being poor of spirit or any other lack contradicts the word.” THE WORD: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for their’s is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew’s gospel chapter 5 and verse 3)

Whom the son sets free is free indeed!
    Does this include financial freedom?

I think we all know what the prosperity gospel is and who are the leaders in this movement. I appreciate Dr. Macchia's message but he needs more than seven minutes. That was just the intro. We need to hear the false message of this so called gospel rebuked. That message is hurting so many. I have seen the fruits of it.

Wrong Wrong Wrong!!! No you’re not talking about “something different” when u seek prosperity at any level it has nothing to do with Jesus!
