If I want a baitcasting rod thats good for jigs, topwaters, spinnerbaits, a mix of finesse and powerfishing, should I pick up a medium or medium-heavy? I have a medium action spinning rod right now but want to throw some lures that are similar to what i currently throw but sized up a bit.
The jig is my favorite lure to throw, I fish jigs probably 90% of the time. I gained a ton of confidence on it watching your videos, thanks for your content and keep doing what you’re doing.

I will also be honest. Drop shot is a weakness of mine. However!!!! I throw a lot of homemade lures, hybrid style fly/jig type deals. And good lord has blessed me so far with decent reactions and catches. Again, congrats on your first baby’s boy sir! Great stuff
That’s the only hook I use in weedless version for drop shots, wacky and neko rigs and you are 100% correct about the Hybrid Hunter and not only does it go through grass but it goes through wood as good as any square bill ever!
I love fishing a jig and I completely agree that it’s a more versatile lure than a Texas rig, I think that the only time a Texas rig out shines a jig is around grass. I’d consider a jig “snagless” while a Texas rig is truly “weedless”
Brand new Texas angler here. Can you do a drop shot with a 6 & 1/2 ft Lews TXS? It’s my first rod, and I’m not sure which lures and techniques will work best.
Ive used the hybrid hunter for weeks here in dfw ponds and i have yet to get a bite. I use a slow stop and go retrieve. Do I need to try a different retrieve or am I just not lucky enough yet. I appreciate your videos, especially your pond fishing videos.
I would say, it’s more than likely the ponds you are fishing don’t have many bass in them. The second reason, yes, would be that you are just unlucky and making the wrong cast. Your luck will turn.
Those finesse Neko really are awesome, but dang their expensive and you only get 4 or 5 a pack. I still buy them though,I'm afraid to lose them though lol

Tbh look into kastking rods and reels.. never had a problem with them . I'm extremely rough on my gear.
