it's hard to find games at all, australia, europe, US...
most people don't understand the importance of building ropes in this mode. Everyone wants to go up as sooner as they can to fight but Isonzo is a game of cooperation
I wish Isonzo players worked together lol, mortar is incredibly powerful… and often totally useless because nobody ever does any spotting.
Barbed wire is amazing on defense… and often destroyed by idiots on the defending team who want to just run at the attackers.
Creeping barrage? Absurdly strong for the attackers, and useless because most players don’t seem to be aware of how it works.
Etc, etc, etc
The rock: truly the pinnacle of weaponry

I still haven’t seen anyone get killed by one in game, but they sure look cinematic lol.
I saw this simple history vid where the Chinese went against U.N. forces in the Korean War and it said they turned to throwing rocks against the US forces.
No wonder the Italians had to fight 13 battles

That was on the Isonzo front (East of northern Italy), the Marmolada, the mountain in the video is on the west front of the war, here things were a little different but still basically consisted in suicide rush after days and days of artillery.
Fun fact: snow, avalanches and cold on the Italian front killed more soldiers than the two armies combined
You got to remember Italy was fighting in the alps which means there are very limited attack paths

this map, or more accurately the atmosphere of it, feels like some lord of the rings type of stuff, it’s so epic. but the best part of the update is clearly the new skins, particularly the italian officer’s new Colonel outfit, so much drip.

@@SirBaffoYT the reason i love the italian front, and this game, is the extreme climate that dudes fought in up in the mountains. sure, piave is gorgeous and Gorizia is fun, but mountain maps like Grappa, Dolomito and Marmolada (and also ascent too) are the reasons i play this game. also, if you agreed with the skins part of my comment, the Austro-hungarian assaulter’s new beige coat is drippy af too, especially with the new mesh visor goggles.
@@Freddercheese yes I agree about the uniforms, the reason why I play Isonzo is for the historical accuracy and obviously also the mountain scenery and... also because I am Italian XD. I visited the places of Isonzo and I must say that the developers did a good job, they are similar to the real ones
@@SirBaffoYT i went on vacation to the northern half of italy a few years ago. quite a ways south of the alps, but i got a good look at them when i was flying over them. always pick a seat near a window when you’re flying i guess. but yeah, there’s just something grand about mountains (gee, i wonder why.) also, about what i said when comparing the game’s feel to the lord of the rings, Marmolada and ascent remind me of that one scene where the fellowship is trying to make their way over the misty mountains before choosing moria as the safer option. the wind blowing in their face, them struggling to even move and having to yell in order to communicate. in short, mountains are really cool. maybe i find them so majestic and otherworldly because i live in denmark where the closest thing to a mountain is what a northern italian would call a tiny hill.

This was how they actually fought on that front in the war as well. Both sides had to scale mountains. Some even just said screw it and blew ip half a mountain face killing their guys and the enemy.

Haven't heard of the game but have heard of the battle for obvious reasons. You loading in for the first time and looking up took my breath away. Couldn't even begin to imagine what it must have been like for the Soldiers actually fighting in those conditions.
the game simulates some battles on the Italian front very well, I recommend it if you are a fan of WW1. In fact, the Italian front was one of the most difficult precisely because of environmental considerations. In northern Italy, especially in Trentino and Veneto, you can see high-altitude trenches and tunnels in the mountains dug during the First World War and, as you say, they really take your breath away. Austrian Werndl rifle bugs out regularly. Shoots once, does 4-5 reload animations before it shoots again.
Facts
I don't believe those lucky enough to be on the side of those who are not on top of these hills are having fun. People are complaining about running and dying in milsim games so I guess that's the apotheosis of that but its even more painful.
That's the fun. It's literally an uphill battle!

I’m so sad. I played a lot of Isonzo when it came out on Xbox in early 2023, but I fell off cause of Army training and moving. I only re-downloaded it like 2 days ago and missed out on really getting to play this. Super cool mode and always cool to see the WW1 series do something interesting that hasn’t been done, and exploring a front that doesn’t get much attention.

I read some book about the Italian Front during ww1. The guys were litteraly making big a** explosion for the Austrians to be trap under the Rock. This side of the front was wild. A big part of the battle were occuring in the mountain. In the end of the war 90% of the Italian army were « Alpini » elite mountain troop forms to high intensity mountain combat. Those guys were fucking badass.

Cant lie this gamemode was a lot of fun for me when i returned to izonso for a tiny bit, highlight of this was for sure climbing up and killing three austrians with the ice axe for the italians... then for the austrians throwing myself off the cliff and managing to stab someone climbing up while falling XD
damn man the thing you do with the Austrians is very based XD I also have to try to stab the climbers with the bayonet while I'm falling

To be fair the reason you die so fast is cause the game doesn’t care about you as an individual you are merely a cog in the machine of war doesn’t matter how many men die you WILL capture the objective and you MUST win.
Yes, You are right this is part of Isonzo's realism, a soldier could even die immediately at the beginning of the battle. On the one hand it's frustrating if it happens to you all the time on the other it's appreciated because it's realistic and makes the game a hardcore challenge.

Either you’re a shitty player or the devs need to nerf the defenders somehow. In verdun there’s always a way to get in the enemy trench. U can go out of bounds,u can work your way in little by little,u can provide accurate covering fire and not get in there at all. I find it hard to believe there aren’t any strategies for isonzo’s ascent pushes
You can definitly win as italy in this map. The best strategy is to create two cords on the two sides of the clifss where all the players go up with two or three guys pushing in the centre. This way most of the austrians will stay in the centre while the sides can climb with little resistance (only the most experienced austrian players will actually move to the sides to defend them).
So, yes... the best strategy is edging

And my friend told me to not purchase the game due of bugs and bad optimization when its first released.
Feel regret as this match seems fun unlike Verdun's trench war and Tannenburg's maneuvers (after 100 hours, of course)
