Brushes were good. Bought it used after it had been outside in the weather for 2 years. Pumped solvent fine but smoke coming out vents after 5 seconds. Took apart again so armature in my hand. VERY warm after 5 seconds of run time and 5 minutes to disassemble. All I can guess is a short inside the spinning armature. Oh well.
Outstanding video , I have a prox9 bought it used at a yard sale ,it was full of dried paint all over ,inside the motor too cleaned it used a finest wet and dry black 3m sandpaper and put it together, replaced pump and got it working for 15 minutes is this video the same to replace this motor brushes

On its first use when the motor runs, brushes smell like burning when I opened the cover there was carbon from the brushes. I use a plug that has earth pin but the problem is still not solved This problem causes motor to stop but the plug lights "Orange" to indicates that it is plugged "ON". I just don't know what's the main cause of this.

The parts are available. They are rather costly. The lower seat is close to $200 by itself. Cylinder $150, piston $100, packings $60. Miscellaneous parts as well. A new 390PC is about $800. Sorry for the delayed response, I missed the notification.
If the fan is spinning, that means the motor is running. If the motor is running, that means you are not achieving the pressure the machine is set for. Your prime valve may be leaking or the packings may need replacing.

I have Wagner PS3.25. I watched your video on repacking the Titan 440. I followed your instructions to complete repack, re-assembled and fired it up. I still have a small leak of pressure and a little water at top of piston appearing. What could be the problem?
Are the brushless motors that Graco puts in their machines still a DC type motor? I have a 2016 490 that has a sealed motor and cooled by a little fan at the back.
So if my motor binds up and just hums, when it gets hot, then works again, after cooling down, would that's be a bad motor and not worth replacing the brushes?
@@Funckinnutcase when the motor gets hot enough to shut down, the possibility is high that other issues are going to be there. The brushes are fairly cheap, so it couldn't hurt to replace.
Any recommendations on how to clean all that stuff? Just a wire brush and air nozzle? How about electronic cleaner or something like that? I bought my airless brand new in 2000 but I don't have the receipt I wonder if they have any record of that ?
If the brushes are good and you smell or see smoke when the unit is on, then the motor is bad. If the motor does not spin when turned on, but NO smell of smoke or your don't see smoke then you have another issue.

@@martinn9477 249043 is the part number for the fan. I will have to grab my old books at work on Monday to get the part number of the other. As far as locating the part, any certified Graco repair shop can order it. Sherwin William's would be able to get it, they are everywhere.
Thanks for the answers, it seems to be an electrical issue with the sprayer aswell, keeps blowin fuses both in the machine and the house, checked all the obvious wrongs such as cables and such, any ideas?
Thanks for the Info, my neighbor gave me one but keeps blowing fuses I unplugged the pressure control from motherboard and is good until I plug it back in, I ordered a new pressure control but still blows fuses. Do you have any idea of what could be? Thank you.
Unplug the motor from the board. Turn the machine on. Make sure everything else is plugged in and turned up. If the fuse does not blow then you have an issue with the motor. Could be bad brushes or bad motor.

Yes. You can attach a 12 volt battery charger to the wires on the motor only. If you put a jumper between the 2 wires and manually turn the motor you should feel heavy resistance verses turning it without a jumper.

Jorge A I don't share location information, sorry. If you have smoke, and the fuse blows, more than likely you need to replace the motor. If you purchased the machine new, then it may be covered under warranty. They warranty if lifetime to the original purchaser. Hope this helps.
Hi, I needd help. my titan 440 has no power to the motor. I know that power gets to the mother board but not to the motor. The copacitor does seem to get energy bc the motor will turn for a secound and then stop when two particular wires are touched

alex jasso if you have a new piston and packings and the machine continues to stroke you can have a couple problems. Check the prime valve, make sure it is not leaking back. Is it a fast stroke or slow stroke? What direction does the piston go before the full stroke?
I need help my graco 390 blew a fuse then I replace it with another one and as soon as I turned on the motor it blew it again, I have no idea what's causing it
If your machine is new, please take it to a certified Graco repair facility. The machine is covered under warranty and Graco will fix the machine at no cost to you.
If the motor is smoking, check the brushes of you have them. If not, the motor is bad and needs to be replaced. If you purchased the unit new and have a receipt, warranty may pay for it.

Luis Rodriquez if the motor has smoke this calls for a new motor. If you purchased the machine new, there is a lifetime warranty that will replace it at an authorized service center.

The ProX9 has an AC motor, there are no brushes to replace.

The brushes slide back in the same hole. Push the spring down and place the cap back on the tracks.

If you have a new machine, the motor is under warranty. Take it to a Titan repair shop.

If the fan is spinning, that means the motor is running. If the motor is running, that means you are not achieving the pressure the machine is set for. Your prime valve may be leaking or the packings may need replacing.
Does that little ring go back in first before the sprocket goes back in?

Either the packing was damaged during reinstalling the piston or the piston is damaged. You will need to pull ot apart again to determine.

Yes it is still a DC motor. Hard to beat a DC motor.

I use lacquer thinner to clean most of the parts I need cleaned. Be careful it is very flammable.

Which model do you have? Look on the ID plate and you will see a unit number, part number or model number. I need that to locate the parts you need.

@@martinn9477 many times a bad pressure control on the 390 will cause this. Not a guarantee, worn brushes can do it as well

@@Rogelionenuko pull the brushes out. You should have about 1/2" or more of the carbon on both wires.

If it keeps pumping, then there is an issue with the pump itself. The shock would be a bad ground wire.

The motor has to be replaced. The armature is bad. If you have a company that can rewind the motor that will work also.

If you bought the machine new and can locate a receipt, then the repair is no charge. Otherwise it is not worth the time and money to repair.
