I have loved watching Davids story on your channel, I dare say they have been the most popular videos on the channel. I understand why Davis was such an important character to the show.
I always thought Steve Owen was intended to be the next "version" of the David-type character, but David had the best realistic balance to his character, I thought!!!!!!!
@@STEJTHEGREATEST Yeah they try to recreate a David - Steve Owen and Michael Moon - but they couldn't do it. David had a much softer centre. He messes up but you root for him.
David was a great character, pity he was only back for short time in 2013 period. You never know he may still return to the square in future, hope he does.
Remember this so well wish he hadn't left but then he did go on to do the great underrated Crime Traveller in 97 pity it didn't made it into a long running series.
i also remember this well.i was 14 or 15 and the next day 2 girls at school were talking about this episode in Modern studies class. Its awful to think in 2001 i had a breakdown and the symptoms were very similar to Joe's throughout this storyline.Eastenders were 100 percent on point showing the devastating reality of this illness.
Main thing I remember from David leaving when I saw it all those years back on TV was David in tears, shouting, "I'm weak, Son!" to Joe, standing out in the rain, trying to stop the car!!!!!!! Back then I thought it was pathetic of him to call himself "weak," but now I often think of myself as weak.
Omg I remember watching this scene episode live on tv back in 1996 when David walks out on his boy Joe leaves him..classic Eastenders episodes back then
When the going gets tough, The David runs away to Italy. Poor Joe and Bianca. And Lorraine it's squarely down to her now to help Joe. David was an asshole.
Lorraine whined and complained and was never happy. Just as awful character who wanted to be a martyr and never appreciated any efforts on David's part. And it was absolutely none of her business who he was seeing.
Thank you ever so much for uploading David's incredible story, At the time this aired I wasn't even born yet but I've been watching Eastenders since 2003 and I managed to piece together a good chunk of most of the characters past though the fantastic story telling. When David returned in 2012 I just knew he was a character I had to watch more of and learn about and thanks to you I have finally been able to do that :) oh and out of curiosity how do you have all of this footage lying around? Eastenders past episodes are tricky to find at best lol
David running away again. He left Carol then Lorraine and Joe, Carol and Bianca again. He couldn't cope with family life. Lorraine at least stuck by Joe although she whined a lot. Did he even say bye to them? He and Pat had a strained relationship. Did he leave a messed up Joe in the flat by himself? Who knows what he'd do. David nor Simon his half brother didn't want Cindy. David is back in 2024 for Bianca. Wonder if he still see Joe

The story of his life... making a mess and leaving his family to pick up the pieces.

one of the most brilliant characters of all time.
Now that Bianca and Cindy are back....the road is clear for a David Wickes return...

Wow, I remember this well.
Unforgettable.

david was a good father
No he wasn’t! He abandoned all his kids.
He loved his kids but thought he messed them up. He knew their mothers would look after them
