    todd, that last comment about your sister really got me man. lately i’ve been really noticing your comments about gratitude and that we should be so grateful to be able to skate at all, and really taking it to heart, but i had no idea. i’m sorry for your loss but really appreciate you sharing what she taught you with everyone. thanks for having him on again guys, this was a great one.

    Todd you're an amazing human.
    What you said about your sister truly resonated with me. It's been a year since I lost my aunt and she was someone who made me someone young look old, she ended up getting sick a blood disease and couldn't really do anything anymore. Not even visit family. The last time I saw her was in a hospital asleep and the next was at her ceremony.
    I think about her everyday and every time I put on my skates I hear her encouraging me to keep going. There's not a day I wake up now and take for granted my health and the body I was given.

    100% agree with Todd about social media vs full length videos. It's been happening for over a decade and extends to every type of media. Don't listen to music through phone speakers, only watch movies on a big screen. Listen to full albums. Replace the constant but instant fleeting dopamine rush of thumb scrolling with medium to long format media.

    Never thought I would be crying at the end of a jump street podcast……it hits close to home. Many do take everything for granted. Thank you for sharing Todd. Great episode

    In my opinion the longer Bacemint stuff has that feeling. Stuff like Fishguys 3 & 4, Golazo, Spacemint, Trust the Process etc. The Bodega Boys have a similar thing going with Cash Only and Enter the Bodega.

      i agree too, i feel like anything in the 12-15min range is a good length for a video

    We need to introduce a competition structure similar to Street League, two run attempts and 5 best trick attempts, best run score combined with 3 best trick scores. Blading competitions are so poorly structured for spectators.

    • @JumpStreetPodcast
      @JumpStreetPodcast  Рік тому +1

      yea we need to think about the spectator aspect of contests more

      @JumpStreetPodcast all like the full length ones, I've missed a lot recently and catching up on the pods now, so only just heard of this brain god which I need to see.

    i'm on team Todd when it comes to full lenght Video over short clips on Insta. I love to see some sick trick reels on insta, FB whatever. But as Todd said, the awwee and impact isn't the same. Says a Dude, blading nearly 30 years.

    Any tips for lower back issues? 😂

    • @mattbtv
      @mattbtv Рік тому +1

      See a proper sports doc first, but in my case stretching, foam roller, and father time

    • @RusPitman
      @RusPitman Рік тому +2

      Lower body stretching (hips, glutes, legs) helps me. I don't have major issues but doing this once or twice daily for at least a week sorts me out if my back is no good. Usually from standing or sitting without moving my joints much. But trying to do it every day definitely helps to keep it away for me 👍

    Love some of the releases over the years from these guys, they are solid skaters too and I like how they think outside the box. I have a childhood friend called McInerney and it's a Scottish name, his Dad is just referred to as Mac, the Canada has a lot of ex-pats. T-Mac boots? haha.

    1:03:25 Yes tournaments need to have run format it actually forces you to compete like you have to show that you can consistently lay down quality tricks consecutively and like show your trick bag. Like a 45-second timer might be the right play to not exhaust the athlete but still cram in 5 plus high quality tricks. 1:09:53 and maybe AI could have like input from former Pros like forming a consensus on trick difficulty and allotting a point scale. I would love to see Matt Mickey commentate every contest
