I live in Queens from 1953-1982. my first real job out of HS in 1972 was as an EMT working for the NYC-HHC-EMS at Governer Hosp on Madison St. It was not open except for the ER (where we were stationed) & the Clinics. We covered from the bridges to Hoston St I used to work nights from 4-12, and we used to go to Katz all the time for dinner they always gave us deals on the Hot Dogs. I just like the Onions & I do not like hot Sauerkraut. My mom was German (born there), and my dad was 2nd gen Sicilian and I was 2nd Gen German and 3rd Gen Sicilian boy which is some combination. great vid BTW.
$10.88 is an amazing price for those two hot dogs in NYC. They are very generous with the condiments as well.

Wow I didn't catch that. I have never been to NYC but I know it can be expensive for food. And that really does seem like a great deal for two Hot dogs loaded like that!!!

When you said you'd be returning soon for the chili dog, you really meant it. I live 25 blocks away from Katz's. I hop on the bus down Second Avenue to Houston...so easy...for $2.90. I go there once a week with a friend. We split 1 pastrami sandwich and 1 dog with mustard and sauerkraut. It's the perfect meal for $17 each.

Man, this brings back so many memories. I used to go to Katz's all the time when I lived in Brooklyn and went into the city (long before things cost the insane prices, they do now mind you lol) and yes, their hot dogs are top tier. Especially when you get them charred like that. Literally the only place that ever came close to me was Nathan's in Coney Island and again, if you asked them to make the dogs well done and you got the char on them, so good. But the chili dog at Katz's is indeed terrific. Absolutely my favorite. I'd always get a pastrami on rye (of course), chili dog, and matzo ball soup. That was my go-to for years and years. Now it's been 25 years since I've eaten there :(

I’m so glad you informed us about the timing. I have always wanted to visit but the only thing that I hesitated on was the restaurant being packed and not being able to sit and eat. Every time I watch a video on Katz deli my mouth waters!! Thank you for this video.
They are open 24hrs during weekends. Sometimes I go around 1am on a Friday or Saturday night. It's not so busy like during the day.
Katz is open 24 hrs. glad he showed it's not always super crowded 😊

I have been watching for about three weeks and it is really great!! I am from Buffalo NY and love your honesty and positivity! It is amazing that some of the pricing in NYC is better than here in WNY! Keep up the excellent work!!!
Watching from the UK, and your videos make my mouth water. These dogs especially looked superb and I was expecting the price to be way higher!
FUN FACT: Each week Katz’s serves 15,000 pounds of pastrami, 8,000 pounds of corned beef, 2,000 pounds of salami, and 4,000 pounds of hot dogs. They serve anywhere from 400 to 4,000 customers a day. The range varies a lot. Weekends are the busiest.

If you are ever in the Midwest especially Ohio and Michigan, you have to try a coney dog. National Coney Island (it’s a diner in Detroit) has AMAZING CHILI DOGS. You should try it out i think you would like it.

Wishing I lived closer! Alas I'm about 750 miles SW from there. 😒 Looks great and especially love that type of ambiance style. Takes me back to better times. Chili looked good too, but I'd have to pick the beans out for my tastes.
Omggg your missing out . This place is heaven , the pastrami literally melts in your mouth and has so much flavor from the rendered fat . You can have it shipped to you , just buy some rye bread and good mustard

One of my favorite UA-camr's came into Katz's early one morning right after they were open for business. I'm going to do the same thing one day.... have the best pastrami on rye for breakfast! Of all the times I've been to Katz's (and it's been quite a few times), I've never seen Jake Dell there, but there he is right over to your left. Did you talk to him?

@@NYCHotDogStands I have some bad news. Fulton Hot Dog King lost their lease and are now closed. I went to get some hot dogs today and saw it with my own eyes. So disappointing!
Next time you go to Katz you should get a hot dog with sauerkraut and chili.

After watching this and seeing the poll for chili, or chili with beans. You got to know chili doesnt have beans. You add the beans to give some texture, flavor enhamcers but, no iwpuld call that chili, but id call it chili woth beans.

Well for the first 9 years of my life I lived near Chicago, So I am really Biased when it comes to Hot Dogs. I am 52 years old now and have lived in the South for 41 years now and yes there is good food to be had here. But here Lately I have been waking up in the middle of the night Dreaming of Chicago Style Hot Dogs and Pork Tenderloin Sandwiches, Hot Italian Beef Sandwiches with the Hot Gardenia...
