You are killin' me, here. I am more than a thousand miles away and live in farm country, so I appreciate the tip on the NY taxis, but, no problem. Now I am really craving a frankfurter like the one you got from Katz's Deli. No chance I will ever have one due to my age and income. However, I do enjoy watching you cruising around NYC and enjoying the different hot dogs from all the various vendors.

Love this review! If you have there wherewithal to resist the Pastrami on Rye, get the hot dog. It's far more satisfying and delicious.
On the opposite end, stay far, far away from the hot dog at 2nd Avenue Deli. It's terrible.

Their hotdog has been great for a long time. Back in 2005 I tried it and loved it so much. There was no social media or iPhones back then so it was like my “secret” for many years
So not only does Katz's have some of the best pastrami in any City! And now has the distinction thanks to you of having the best hot dog in New York.... Chris that dog looks so darn 😋 good I was crying here in Miami😂
Do yourself a favor and head up to Sarge's deli on 3rd Ave and 36st. For better pastrami sandwich and hot dogs 🌭 🐕

Chris you gotta check out Chris’s Red Hots in Newark NJ. This is my local hotdog truck HIGHLY recommend. An average dog with kraut mustard and onions not sauce but home made onions you can get it spicy which is effin hot or sweet which has a touch of spice will run you 5-6 bucks but it’s worth it you will not be disappointed!! Heller pkwy Newark nj check it out!!

I dont know the brand. It does have a natural casing though.

When I see videos about Katz’s sandwiches the comments are dominated by the price being very expensive but is it fair to say $5 for a hot dog in New York is very cheap?
$5 is a great deal! Best bang for your buck.

It is supposed to be the cheapest way around. Between all the added fees, taxes, congestion, tax I might as well get a private chauffeur.

Lived on Ludlow for years right after college with Katz’s on my north corner. The pastrami is great. The knockwurst and frankfurters are great too but my favorite things have always been the Reuben, the Turkey sandwich and their Split Pea Soup.

I’ve noticed that it seems more often than not that deli mustard is used. Is that the standard in NYC?? I prefer yellow mustard and would honestly have my dog ruined by deli mustard.
Usually Deli mustard. I'm surprised when someone uses just Yelllw.
Seems like a fair price considering the exceptional quality and how expensive Katz's deli is.
