Anyone who thinks that Sachin was selfish should see how dependent the Indian team was on him. Out of 151 he had scored 100 alone. This was the sheer dominance of Tendulkar. Haters can keep barking as much as they want but there is no denying the fact that Sachin was the pillar of the Indian cricket team back then. Getting him out was the only target of the opposition team.
Kids wondering why Sachin was going berserk with Lofted Shots.? Watched this game live back in the day.. India were hardly winning anything on that tour. For reaching the finals India needed to win with quite a few overs to spare, hence Sachin was playing like that. Another example of how meek Indian batting was on away tours. Barring Sachin and may be Azhar no one could score run a ball. (Not even a raw Ganguly) No one performed for Sachin in his captaincy, yet he managed to score lone hundreds..

Azhar played for the bookies. Not for the team. And after the captaincy was taken from him and handed over to Sachin, he intentionally didn't play at his best when needed. As teenage kids we could see it. But the knuckleheads at BCCI and coach couldn't. That bald head of fitness Dr Irani was hand in glove with bookies.
Dravid is a spectator.. For those who compare Dravid to Sachin, answer is this.. There was no single match Dravid was thrashing bowlers and Sachin watching.. They had 3000+ partnership in one ODI..
Dravids gameplay wasnt supposed to be thrashing bowlers... Remember Bevan, Greatest Finisher of all time had a strike rate of around 75. Dravid's first 3-4 years in ODI were not upto the mark. He couldnt rotate and improvise.. Given the great player he was, he changed his game beautifully. Dravid ended his career with with a strike rate of 71. Ganguly with 73 :) . And people consider Ganguly as one of the greatest openers. Switch post 2002.. Dravid increased his strike rate tremendously from 60s to 70s, which meant he was scoring around @85+ regularly. Ganguly on the other hand, wasted too many balls but was blessed with the art of hitting boundaries.. Tendulkar was baap of all, complete batsman. Pity that he had to take so many chances in first 15. Otherwise he would have had at least 60+ centuries in ODIs.. Respect our legends...
Can't remember a single ODI that Dravid won for India single handedly. In the hindsight i can recall plenty of matches that India lost because of Dravid's going. Tendulkar played astonishingly well. when He got out India's score was 158 and out of that he had scored 104...Just too good.
