Lothric = Lordran, eons later. Anor Londo wasn’t just randomly dropped into a different kingdom, it hasn’t moved but the landscape around it has evolved over vast lengths of time. There are distinct unmistakeable clues dropped throughout certain other DS3 areas to tie them to Lordran. Smouldering Lake = Demon Ruins / Lost Izalith. Farron Keep = Darkroot Garden = Oolacile.

    • @steel58836
      @steel58836 4 місяці тому +4

The only problem with that, is that the Sun Princess (Gwynevere) leaves Lordran for Lothric and marries Ocieros.

Thats a crazy simplistic way of looking at it. By your logic, Lothric is also Boletaria because ds3 directly references demon’s souls with items and lore

Lothric is described in the into as a place "where the transitory lands of the lords of cinder converge". Lothric is an amalgamation of the lands of the lords of cinder of the past, so of course Anor Londo was going to be there, as it was the home of the first Lord of Cinder.

I appreciate the rambling about the meta narrative of ending dark souls as a series. It’s always been one of my favorite things about DS3. The finality of the game and it’s universe is absolutely poetic. It really cements dark souls as, one of, if not my favorite trilogy of games. You have the genre defining Dark Souls, the experimental DS2, and the refined and reflective DS3. They all scratch different itches and I love it.

If you haven't watched Jacob Geller's video called "Dark Souls 3 is Thinking of Ending Things", I think you would find it really interesting based on your reading of the thematic elements for DS3 and how it references itself in an almost cynical way, but equally in a reminiscing way too...

Dark Souls 3 was my first souls game, I was stuck on those Abyss Watchers for ages, I played it, enjoyed it, moved on and never interacted with it again. So to learn that there is this immense amount of depth to it is really fascinating. I love the idea of it being an ode to the souls franchise but also a heartfelt goodbye and message of intent to move on to new things. Regardless of how it plays, even though it is a great game gameplaywise, as a piece of art it's something quite spectacular especially when compared to franchises nowadays that get milked dry. To have the confidence to acknowledge your success and then have the artistic integrity to move past it and try something different, you can't help but respect that. Great video!

Another thing to really like about Lucatiel's armor being in DS3 is the fact that she is mentioned in the item description, meaning that the Bearer of the Curse made sure that everyone remembered her name.

Perfectly said about the whole clinging on to something you love even though you should probably learn to let go and move on. In this day and age where movies, games, tv shows and sometimes even music are so referential to themselves to the point that they’re just products screaming out loud “wow you love this thing don’t you? Wasn’t that time great?”, it’s nice to see Miyazaki embracing what made and makes him such a great artist but that also that the great art he made didn’t come from out of nowhere and that part of being an artist is delving into new depths with that newfound knowledge of yourself. No we don’t need a Bloodborne 2, an Inception 2, a Toy Story 5 (holy fking shit bro), Stranger Things never needed more seasons in my humble opinion and it’s fine to not care about the mcu anymore after Endgame. Art is art. Extensions can be great for sure but it can’t be the gateway to new ideas.

0:01 random lore theory I think shira is dusk in the future.we know people from oolacike made it to ringed city. Shira can mean white princess. I think the white trees are places of interest she was around like by Elizabeth, a transposing kiln, Priscilla’s doll, and outside of midirs altar not to mention you have to become a humanity to get in and that’s from dusks era and city. It says she respects the Pygmy remnants on her weapon I think it’s manus. Overall she’d be familiar with time travel and makes sense why she would pity midir as it’s not the first dragon she’s seen eat the abyss. Extra tinfoil hat theory I think gwyndolin is seathes son and was betrothed to dusk thats why his statues are in oolacile and how shira/dusk is both god and child of the duke

It’s not perfect, but even the worst highs parts of the this game don’t reach the lows of the other ones. I’d say it’s window of quality is from like 6-10 whereas I’d say elden ring is 3-10, ds1 2-9, and ds2 is 1-9. It’s got the lowest variation in quality of experiemce

The theme of DkS as a whole needing to fade and end... That might very likely be the case, since Miyazaki doesnt like sequels. Its very likely that Bandai Namco demanded direct Dark Souls sequels from From.

It allowed me to vent out my own frustrations in life and was a turning point for me as a person bc it gave me a real sense of achievement which I hadn't felt in awhile. Hot take... I absolutely despise Dark souls 3... Not from a story standpoint, or level design, just from the gameplay perspective, I despise it so much, that no matter how many times I try playing it, I just drop it... I think it's incredibly unfair and stupid design, to MAKE YOU ONLY be able to beat it by playing aggressive and getting a dual wield or two-handed weapon to do ANY damage at all, also armor is absolutely freaking useless, blocks 0 damage no mater which one I use... 90% of the whole weapon and armor roster in DS3 is useless, you just happened to use the dual swords that are actually good by default... You also don't get NEARLY enough upgrade materials or general resources to test out different builds, or if you feel like something isn't working, there is just no way to change your playstyle, because you don't have the resources to do that, it's actually impossible, and I hate games that limit you as a player like this

@@ZimSan Really not that hard to understand. Bosses have varied movesets and dodge windows, and each boss primarily tests something different about the player. It's not all "rollspam and attack," that just says more about you than anything.
For your argument to hold any weight, you'd have to say that Abyss Watchers, Elder and Younger Princes, Twin Demons, Midian, and Gael are mechanically similar. This isn't like Mario where you stomp on a Goomba and that's always the solution. Not only do the enemies offer depth, but how you build your character offers another layer of depth on how to approach any given boss encounter.

After elden ring, a much more mechanically deep game, the bosses feel quite primitive in ds3 to be honest.

Same! I just beat nameless king for first time. And about to beat SK Gael, but I need to buy PWoA dlc
Still need to play Bloodborne, most of sekiro, and demons souls. I might skip ds2, unless people think it's a must play game, if enough people say so I'll play it

You’re “thought” on games are nothing but philosophical messes. I’ve been watching you for a while now and besides a few good critiques, your rambling amount to something that could be said in a couple sentences. You’re like the drunk guy at the bar telling the same story but in different words with each paragraph.

The idea of being over powered doesn't hold up. If you are just playing the game normal and aren't grinding excessive lvls or having items given to you thru trade or cheat engine then you're not over powered, lol. I had someone say that to me when I killed Lord Soul Cinder and then I pulled up my stats and I was lvl 94 (most ppl complete their 1st play thru base game at lvl 100).
Furthermore DS3 isn't Elden Ring. You can't build some broken build that just cheeses the game w/o using some sort of cheat like trade or cheat engine. I think this is why I prefer the older games over ER bc you actually have to work for your progression where in ER everything except bosses is just a loot pinata which I got bored w/ fast. Ideally I'd like a game w/ the progress difficulty of DS3/BB and boss difficulty of ER.

The ringed city is still the best souls dlc hands down, wrapped up the whole story of the dark souls trilogy with a perfect ending.
Shadow of the Erdtrees ending pales in comparison to this.

    • @Ar17778

Endings… I completely agree, the whole dlc? No chance, shadow of the Erdtree is bigger then ds3 full game, filled with great weapons bosses and content, ringed city is amazing, but the sheer scale and quality of shadow of the Erdtree is rivaled only with blood and wine

Shadow of the Erdtree is like a very solid 8.5-9/10 for me. A couple bs parts here and there (but that goes for all of From Software in my opinion. Not all of it is “hard but fair”. Some small parts are just genuinely bs you can’t do anything about) + traversing the shadowrealm can be a bit tricky imo although that can also be a bit of a flaw of myself because I’m the blindest person ever when playing all of these games. Amazing boss fights and an astonishingly beautiful world for the rest with some cool new enemies and weapons
