Nice dash. When I had an Africa Twin XRV750 back in the '90s, I could only have dreamed of a bike like this Transalp. Funny, then, that now I wouldn't want one. Nick

Yep, it can be crazy how what you'd buy or ride changes over the years.

Thanks Kris, there should be more pillion tests of bikes, there are so few bikes under $20K that are suitable atm especially with the trend to seats that point so far up instead of being parallel with the ground. I would never sit on those high cramped seats so wouldn’t expect my pillions to…..

Yep, the focus on two-up riding on so many bikes really seems to have disappeared in favour of styling.

Hi Kris, I’m interested in your thoughts about the screen and how you find the level of protection it provides. Would you suggest adding a deflector on the top for riders around the 6’2” height? Impressive sound from the stock exhaust. Thoughts on the OEM tyres? For your intended riding what would you put on them when these wear out? Cheers, Marcus.

I'm 5'11" and the screen is just a tad short. I'm sure one of those clip on deflectors would work. But I went with some $15.00 adjustable brackets from AliExpress. It turns the standard screen into an adjustable screen.

I am 176, and the stock screen is way too noisy at highway speeds. Just ordered a taller screen and side deflectors, as you get a lot of wind hitting your upper torso, not only helmet.

@@martythompson6509 Nice. Thanks for the tip.

@@rideinnl So, at 189 cms it would be useless! Even with a deflector. Appreciate your input. What did you end up ordering? I perhaps need to look at the Africa twin instead as even after 40 plus years of riding, they have predominantly been sports bikes and if I do go off-road it’s with a proper dirt bike.

@@marcusgeorge1825 Tyres... Tyres are fairly individual. Where and how you ride... As well as the feeling you prefer will normally determine tyre choice. Fwiw, I got 6000klms out of the OEM tyres. They were fine on tar and hardpack dirt. But they're a road tyre. I replaced them with Michelin Anakee Wilds. But I mostly do dirt. If I were riding more tar, I'd go with the Anakee adventure. But that's what I prefer. Your experience may vary.😁

If you not going offroad then probably suspension upgrade perhaps not worth it Chris. Did you move up mid North Coast, or just on holiday?

Up near Port Macquarie now, so a bit of a sea change there compared to Sydney!

the side stand is too forward i think.you open it with ease?

I'll pay more attention next time, I haven't had any issues so far but have mainly done longer rides, so not a lot of stand use yet.

Kris, any issues with the fueling?this motor runs smooth?the transmition is ok?

Sport mode is a bit less smooth with more aggressive/instant throttle response. Standard is smoother in comparison. I felt like a little clutch feathering had Sport feeling very usable for general riding, but I'd stick to Standard for bad traffic.
