Bobby Bare is played on the way to the fishing hole every time since I was 5. I even learned how to play it on the guitar. I got to meet you once. I was about 12 years old. My neighbor and I were out fishing in the Everglades on Alligator Alley, and my neighbor said, "Hey, thats Roland Martin, do you know who he is?" My heart sank, and surely enough Roland and a cameraman were rounding the corner. Of course I know who Roland Martin is. My neighbor said, "Yeah, I know ol Roland" and he shouted to you, "Hey Roland! My neighbor wants to meet you." You stopped fishing and came over and said Hi. You showed me a really nice Bass you caught and honestly I could barely get a word out. Im pretty sure you knew my neighbor. His name was Carl Deems. Older gentleman (back then) Real salt of the Earth guy. RIP. Not to ramble, but I wanted you to know it was one of the best moments of my life. I hope we run into each other again one day.
Roland, I grew up,watching all the TV Bass heros. John Fox, Bill Dance, Roland Martin, Jimmy Houston, etc. You Guys were the chosen ones, the ones that made Bass Fishing HUGE. Now at 65 I just put around with my trolling motor floater for bream and slabs..every time I get a likely one on that 4lb test I am like oooooh son! It’s a 10lber……oooooohh son! Thanks for sharing the antics of the past. And I am confident you and Bill didn’t inhale………Clinton that is….
