Another minor mistake: That catfish is not marine. It's Phractocephelus hemiolioptera, the redtailed catfish, native to the Amazon basin. You'd do better with one of the ariidae or pangusiidae.
I agree! I believe that the animal illustrations are done by the artists listed in the bottom left of each photo, and the channel adds the environmental backgrounds
Love this channel! A video on the evolution of hummingbirds may be interesting. They are just so different from other birds, I've always wondered what shaped their evolutionary path.
I noticed your canine video listed rabbits as the example of the small prey of modern wolves, most arctic wolves live almost entirely from hunting voles. I am sure you know Voles are several times smaller than rabbits, and it is a surprising and interesting fact about these brave hunters, that they are primarily small rodent eaters in one of the harshest climates on the earth. Great videos! Binging and subscribed.
Thanks I didn't know that before. I just previously assumed rabbits would be the smallest animals they'd hunt. However we do know that domestic dogs of all sizes love to hunt and eat rats and mice. And dogs are a domesticated sub species of wolf so it makes all the sense in the world for arctic wolves to subsist largely on voles if that's mainly what's available in their environment.
The thing is they have smaller packs than normal, so they can't hunt large animals, but the only other food there are small, which can't feed them all.
I like all three, but he sort of sounds like Ben G. I listen to them quite a bit, I only recently found this channel. Prehistory is fascinating to me, especially extinct mammals, I grew up learning about dinosaurs, but the mammals that came after I had little knowledge of. It wasn’t until they made Walking with Prehistoric Beasts that they finally gained the public eye and now you hear a lot about them. I love that and each time I seem to learn something new.
Nice, since I subbed 2 days ago, you've gone from 10K to 11.4K subscribers. I wish you only the best going forward. You make excellent content and I'm so happy to find more information on prehistoric mammals, dinosaurs are cool and all, but mammals need some love too. Can I tempt you into a future video on how pronghorn antelope are adapted to a predator they no longer have? American cheetahs.
What a nice surprise! I've been binge watching your videos today. Your channel is soo great! It is exactly the content and quality I was searching for. I like also PBS Eons, Ben G Thomas and Trey the explainer but Moth Light Media is like the best things from those channels combined!
Found your channel last week and have binged almost all of your videos. Thanks for the excellent content. It may not seem like it now, but you will definitely blow past 100k subs in no time. You have the quality, the topics, and the algorithm is tying you to other earth sciences channels in the recommendations. As you have asked for ideas, I don't know if there's enough data to make an episode on the evolution of butterfly metamorphosis, but I'd really love to see one on that. I've tried to find other videos on the topic, but there don't seem to be any. All the videos that reference "evolution of butterfly metamorphosis" seem to discuss the lifecycle process of a single butterfly (biological changes in an individual over its life) rather than the evolution of the trait itself.
Your content is really good my dude, I hope you keep it up and that your channel continues to grow. Please do a video on rays and other cartilaginous fishes!
Bro you are about to blow up, I subscribed like 5h ago and you had 12k subs and now you are over 13k, glad that quality content like yours is being promoted, cheers!
My exam about Life Sciences is coming up and your videos are the best way to relax while still be in touch with my studies. Thank you so much and keep up the great work.
To be honest the editing and the quality of your'e videos is amazing. To be honest one of the best educational channels on yt. Keep up the good work :)
I just found this channel since I watch a lot of similar stuff to fall asleep to and i was plesantly surprised :) I love the tone of voice where its calm enough to doze off to but not too monotone either where it gets uninteresting, so im happy to see you're keeping that by. tbh i wasnt sure about subscribing but I saw how you responded to critisism and corrections and that swayed my decision, so i hope to see this channel grow even more (you're already doing really well for the fact that you only started a year ago!) and Im excited to see and hear more of what storys you have to tell :)
I just finished binged watching everything and I enjoy everything that I have watched! It's interesting and I've learned new things along with the things I already knew! Thank you for this!
@@mothlightmedia1936 thanks, I figured they'd fit well because they can handle cold better than crocs. add in some shrew style venom and you've got an interesting animal for the characters to deal with.
Just found your channel and have been watching all the videos. For such a small channel I think you should pride your self on how high quality and professional these are , and keep up the good content. You remind me of Ben G Thomas or trey the explainer .
As someone who has a history of debating creationists in my school years, I honestly don't know how one could reconcile this evidence with creationism. The development of whales has got to be the best and clearest evidence of evolution
@@charliebowen5071 No, Convergent evolution is the independent evolution of similar features in species of different periods or epochs in time. Birds and Pteranodons coexisted in the same period, the cretaceous period. Parallel evolution is the similar development of a trait in distinct species that are not closely related, but share a similar original trait in response to similar evolutionary pressure. In the case of birds and pteranodons: Wings and a beak.
To all what I heard in comment section, this channel gained a lot of abos in the recent month. That's totally deserved and I hope I will keep rising. it's amazing how the content about evolution is brought to life again and people enjoying it to watch and learn about.
Really enjoying your channel sofar! Thank you for all the effort put into these videos. I’d love to see a feature on bats, powered flight and echolocation in mammals sometime in the future, if it’s not too much to ask? ;) Thank you again!
When you watch those Giant Otters from South America at the zoo, they seem to be incedible swimmers but when they do crawl out onto the land they are so awkward and ungainly, their short legs almost being unable to carry them, it's almost as if you can 'predict' that in a few million years they might evolve into some seal / sea lion like creature.
Out of all the animals I wish were still alive today, this one has to be pretty up there. It would just be really cool to see an animal that looks like a cross between an otter and a dolphin swimming around in the ocean.
Whales are probably the most difficult evolutionary lines for me to process. Most lines make sense, a mouse-looking mammal turning into an ape and stuff, but for an ocean going animal to give rise to mammals and then return to the ocean to fit in completely with the animals that never left is wild.
That will require some mass extinction of whale before. The ecological niche they occupy needs to be emptied first for otters to be selected to be bigger and bigger

Maybe the real K.H. is a closeted evolutionist.
Paulogia must be informed of this development.
I agree, it's absolutely hilarious.
I’m considering donating to this channel so I can also get Kent Hovine’s name in the donations.
I think caring about Ken Ham in 2020 is a bit petty to be honest
