  • Now that we reached level 16 Unknown it is time to rid the planet of all its sasemite sand! We need to craft 1000 colorless specter cubes to repair the portal. Once we did a long cutscene played which explained how grim our situation really is. However, our only task is to make a lot more cubes and finish what we started.

I made carbon bricks from plantmatter bricks.
Yes, it is slow as shit, but seeing as I seem to have so bloody many of them... They get made quick enough!
My planters (kindlevine and shiverthorn) in a crusher make seeds, plantmatter bricks and the two extracts.
Sending all the plantmatter bricks to a smelter makes carbon.
    Compress the carbon into bricks.
I have 168 basic planters making just shiverthorn and kindlevine (I remade the original factory in the barracks level)
Each crush makes 5 plantmatter bricks... It serves up a LOT of resources!
I haven't make any carbon bricks to use in game and I run a LOT of the Carbon bricks/sesamite gel biobrick fuel!

@@GDPDuncan Yeah.... Also annoying is that you have to SPEND carbon bricks to make masses of explosives to get carbon bricks.

nice work on 100%. adding more yellow cores adds small about of % to mining speed and production. also there are 3 variants for core composer 2k, 4k and 8k

Thank god you found a quick way to get tons of seeds. The biggest problem is going to be the carbon powder brick though I think. As the explosive drills are pretty slow and destroy the ore nodes.
And nice, you will be on 16 in no time!

@ best way to get carbon is I turn all my plantmatter fiber into bricks, and then convert plantmatter to fibre and then to bricks as well.

@@FKGafgarion Plant Matter Bricks converts to a fixed rate of Carbon Powder-- you can get more Carbon Powder from uncompressed plant fiber-- it's not worth converting plant matter or bricks to fiber to convert to powder-- but it's also best to convert plant matter and plantmatter fiber directly to powder. You get a higher ratio of powder (at a higher cost of blast charges, but 1 per cycle is nothing) than if you first convert things to plantmatter bricks and then to powder.

Blast miners collect the bricks directly instead of having to make them from powder

    • @GDPDuncan
      @GDPDuncan  Місяць тому

yeah, but sadly its pretty slow and uses up the node so it isnt easy to scale op production as ill be needing millions of the bricks.

@@GDPDuncan I had a string of around 10 blast miners around a node, using the long regular inserters that do 15 items a minute I would get 2 bricks per miner with every blast. With how slow the bricks are used that is plenty and I was filling up containers even when I had 16 assemblers making white cubes

I've been working on a setup turning iron and copper ingot into carbon powder bricks by using the mass recipe for basic smelters then turning those into carbon dust then bricks. For each assembler making 400/m inserters, I'll get 3.2/m carbon bricks using only a few iron and copper ingots. I have blast miners on 4 other carbon nodes, I'm getting enough brick to supply 70 assemblers making cubes, just need to get my seasimite ingots up to speed.

@@GDPDuncan Sending 15 charges per cycle (there's a way to do this perfectly by splitting a red belt into a blue, yellow, and red inserter, per blast miner) gives 5 bricks per explosion & is the best way to keep the nodes alive for as long as possible. In my experience, just the carbon in the upper part of PT Sierra yielded enough bricks to make it past the 32000 cubes objective (+ then the numbers get absolutely insane after that so there's no point in even playing past that)

@@GDPDuncan devs got mad at me on steam for pointing out the lack of quality-of-life features and balance issues in the final build, and highlighting that the rumor is they ran out of funding to keep developing the game-- their complaint was that reviews like mine prevent them from selling more copies (of an incomplete game) on some vaguely worded implication that they would take that additional funding and put it into finishing the game.
If they'd been more open, if they hadn't wasted development cycles on non-core gameplay (laser tag, anyone?) I'd feel more sympathy. People poured loved into this IP, but they made some bad decisions and/or didn't have enough funding to finish their story-- and this really was more of a story driven game than a factory builder.
On a separate set of topics-- video related:
With Blast Drills, you can just mass produce blast charges and each blast cycle will consume at most 20 blast charges-- so 5 waste each cycle, but if you just massively over produce, it's not really a huge deal. You can mass produce the ores infinitely-- limestone is the hardest to mass produce, because you have to do kindlevine extract to limestone, and that takes a huge amount of kindlevine (since you need the kindlevine for other things like producing power via crushers and various other recipes.) But you can just wash the kindlevine stems and shiverthorn stems with the extract of its opposite to mass produce extract, and there are other ways to produce shiverthorn gel to offset growing needs. And you can blast furnace plant matter to carbon powder and then convert powder to bricks. The resources are extraordinary, but they're also effectively infinite with the right recipes.
But all the recipes are super complicated and there are no tools to help you balance loads-- and filling up something with 500 of something when it only needs a dozen makes any efforts to balance a factory a nightmare. Working out exact belt split patterns just takes a huge amount of space.
I started working out belt and inserter patterns to create controlled overflow (when the main path you want resources to travel backs up, it overflows to another path)... but it's a little bit much as effort goes. Game could have a lot more QOLs to make things more enjoyable.
Instead they wasted cycles on laser tag and everything above floor 13 looks like they just stopped working on it and pushed it out the nest to fly or fall to its death.
In conclusion-- thanks for sharing your journey. Knowing how it ends scratches the only itch that remained. I'll be uninstalling now.
