Im not sure if buying bootleg is stealing from an artist. For example with Blond, Frank has made a specific amount of vinyls and sold them all. So wether I buy the original for 500+ or a bootleg for 50, Frank has already made his profits from the limited selling and won't receive any more. Thus we're not stealing. I'm a freshman on vinyl collection, recently I saw on instagram an Ad from a record store selling some 'unofficial' albums, I did a quick search on that and I agree with you. I think bootlegs are not bad at all, sometimes is the only way to get (or even rescue) music, in Mexico many `sonideros` (sound systems, they play mostly cumbia and salsa) exported music from Colombia trough this pirate copies. for me the problem comes with this overpriced bootleg or unnecesary releases especially if it comes from a shitty digital archive. It's all about preferences.
Man on the Moon 3 is incredible! Then again I am a Cudi stan.. 😅 but, I dig it so much. I thought that the intro was perfect. The first half has a lot of trap and I think Cudi sounds so good over that sound. The second half is definitely more of a MOTM 1 feel to me. Fall in the void, Elsies baby boy, tequila shots, she knows and pale moonlight are my favorite tracks! I actually really dig show out too, never expected to hear Cudi on a drill beat but, I love it haha. My favorite thing about the record is that the tracks are short and straight to the point. There’s not any filler. That’s actually my main beef with Pain Passion & Demon Slaying. Some of those tracks are like 4-8 minutes long when they only need to be like 3 minutes. But, with MOTM 3 the tracks are straight to the point. I also dig the production on the album! I love how layered some of the tracks are. When the beat starts speeding up on She Knows I always enjoy that part, gets me amped haha I mean I would make a full video on it but, it seems like it would be a little late now. But! I am working on a Kid Cudi worst to best list! So maybe I’ll discuss it there! WLR.. I’ll admit on first listen I wasn’t really feeling it. But, after a lot of listens I’m digging it. I’m actually pleased that Carti decided to switch it up a bit. The production is interesting on the album too. Reminds me of some old Nintendo games haha I dig his vocals on some of the tracks too. His voice is raspy and he puts a lot of emotion into it! It's interesting because I've heard of a few people actually getting Kanye West to sign bootleg copies of Graduation and he didn't seem to care, I've also seen a few people have autographed Nothing Was The Same bootlegs, so sometimes I feel the artist doesn't even care, maybe because they know they don't plan of releasing those records on vinyl any time soon, so they don't mind people wanting them on vinyl so badly.
Your channel is obviously blowing up from your first Tyler the Creator vid because its topically a pretty easy click, however the fact that this latest episode is maybe of the highest quality yet is a promising sign.

if the record was never originally pressed, I don't want it. I'm not wanting Yeezus on vinyl despite how good the record is. I want the CD version of it cause that was what it was pressed on.

I don't think buying bootleg records is stealing from an artist. I mean, some bands' fanbases (eg Grateful Dead) have created whole cultures off of buying bootlegs of an artist's live performances. Nothing wrong with that. If I were an artist, I wouldn't have a care in the world if someone bootlegged my live performances. Hell, I'd buy them.
There actually is a legit version of Graduation on wax. It just was a white label never for sale and made exclusively for promo in Europe I believe. Cool vid tho.
Oh that would be a fun video! I do have a public playlist on my channel where I upload unlisted videos of records I pick up! Maybe I’ll make a collection video and throw it in there.
One thing you didn't mention is bootlegs of songs/albums that haven't been officially released. The original mix of The Clash's album Combat rock, "Rat patrol from fort Bragg", was never released. But somehow, somebody got their hands on the mixes, and vinyl pressings have been made of it. Unfortunately, the bootlegs are still rather rare, and when they do pop up for sale, they're pretty expensive, especially for a bootleg. I hope that someday Rat patrol from fort Bragg gets an official release, cause I believe that some of those mixes are superior to what we got
I know this video is a year ago, but I just want to add in the time of the “vinyl resurgence” if you don’t put it out on vinyl and someone else does (especially if it’s an album) then Tuff Shit lol. Like Kanye would PRINT money if he released Yeezus and TLOP on vinyl but 🤷🏼♀️. And also you aren’t stealing from the artists in the case of rare expensive pressing because you’re giving the money to the 2nd hand market, tbh you’re robbing yourself paying all that money for wax lol. AND you can even make your own records now, so really if you (the artist) aren’t going to do, I for sure am lol.
there's also the fact of being outside the US or Europe. I just bought a bootleg for slipknot's first album. Why? Simply because it is way too expensive to buy the original one. The lowest price i've found would be 43 dollars if it was new. The bootleg costed 15 dollars, also because it had warp issues. But there just isn't a lot of margin for someone from south america.
