EXCELLENT !!!!! JOHNNY SMITH 's arrangement through difficult chords with these fingers extensions . Forget it if your hands are small ! ...or take advantage of a short neck ( 23 " 1/2 ) . The LEVIN DE LUXE NATUR guitar is a must , the tone is perfect and PASCAL HAMMAN puts the icing on the cake with the smoothness it deserves .
Notice how the melody descends on the second string. Johnny Smith played it that way because he felt it made those lines more cohesive in tone. He found the E string too brittle sounding. I know this because he told me so in 1960. Cool trio here, doing a great job of it.
@@paulwooton4390 Hey Paul: I was a fourteen year old kid visiting relatives who lived in Colorado Springs. My Uncle was in furniture sales and had helped Johnny furnish his home. He pointed out that he had become friendly with J.S. and arranged for me to get a "tips" lesson from Johnny at his studio. I also talked my folks and Aunt&Uncle to attend the Jazz club where J.S. was playing with an organ trio for two consecutive nights. We were able to get a table quite close to the stage and I had the best seat in the house. It was a wonderful time for me. Another good tip I got from Johnny was to train my left hand pinky finger to stretch out and play on the bass strings. Still use that to this day. Ref. Jimmy B., He is no relation but I think he would be a dandy one to have. He also has a jaw dropping rendition of "Moonlight". Thanks for your interest Paul and keep on pluckin' ........J.B.
Just fantastic, gentlemen....bravo! One of my favorite standards of all time. Best instrumental version. Top 3 ever including Billie Holiday and Sinatra renditions. Love this!
beautiful chords, very nice playing. some of his arpeggios sounded like the great johnny smith. it would be hard to play like johnny smith. they did a good job.
Wow, not my style of music but I really appreciate the perfect performance. The black and white video and the beautiful oldtimer guitar makes the picture complete. thank you!
This my friends, is what talent looks like....the kind of music that's made today is so tasteless...These were the days. People had class, the country wasn't ran by the Godless and everything was just alright :)

Awesome presentation and interpretation of a classic. Superb musicianship. Authentic tones well recorded.

Thanks a lot! :-)
Just about great music, great playing. Not all the obsessive, self-centered attention-getting in our music culture, and elsewhere, today.
This is a new video shot in black and white

Thank you, awesome...PLease, what is that guitar?

Wow, that's slow. Which timespace continuum do you guys live in?
That drummer has chops, you bet your bottom dollar
What a beautiful guitar! Also, can you please post the name of your tailor (I hear cuffs are back).
Could that guitar be any bigger?
What brand guitar is that? It's gorgeous, looks as big as a Stromberg Master 400.
Levin Deluxe
So natural
Can you please tell me the guitar maker? You guys sound great, I put this on repeat. Buddha bless
Thats an old levin... Kind regards
It's a 1951 Levin DeLuxe with a DeArmond 1100 Pickup on it.
Best Regards
