    Been dancing competitively my whole life, and I was always naturally talented but rarely won competitions. Then I went to dance college and something flipped like a switch in my head. The college didn't teach me much new physically, but the confidence I gained allowed me to dance confidently and ENJOY what I was doing. Confidence is key, and will literally make you look like a completely different person!
    Close your eyes, and just MOVE. Do what your body wants you to do. You will only look awkward, if you feel awkward!

    • @prohhhvost
      @prohhhvost Рік тому +5

      Yeeeees!!!!!
      When I studied "not to see people " around me,and each move was based on pleasure in my body I put attention that people (not only woman)got excited of my dance....
      This is like revelation of your.....soul,body,wishes.....
      And somehow we,human beings love to see it in others!!!!❤
      One more analogy:
      Some woman are given great bodies.But they feel squeezed and try to hide their bodies (hunch up their shoulders nobody see their beautiful breast,shorten steps while walking...etc)....
      At the same time those woman(forgive me ladies saying this)who was not given that gift (to have gorgeous body and face...)EXPOSE THEIR BODIES.
      They dont hunch up their shoulders ,they keep theirs chin up and they walk free...
      !
      They don't hide their bodies..!!!
      They let you watch!!!!!...
      And this is what magnetizes your eyes. 😍
      This is the beauty....!
      Different aura presents around such ladies!!!!
      Such behavior attracts, excites.....
      And this is what should happen while dancing!!!!.....
      Let people watch you....!...

      My sister took dance lessons for 10 years, all the way through high school. She also has natural rhythm. There are dance moves that may seem easy but honestly only an experienced person with lots of practice and training can do them right. You've got that edge.

    I'm 68 years old and still going to raves, something I see a lot in dancing, people "thinking" what move they are going to do next...DON'T, feel the music if you try to think you'll get out of the beat; most of the party music is in a tempo of 4, if it's going to fast, divide in 2 or 4 (1in 2 or 1 in 4) and don't think to much or you miss the beat, let your body do the thinking.

    THIS is what I've been looking for to get myself started dancing for exercise! I'm learning to Shuffle dance, but I really need to be able to stand in one place and dance until I regain my balance (suffered a devastating injury that messed me up hugely). This will do very nicely, and I'll still get some real dance movements in and can have fun with it.

    I am 63 and learned how to dance growing up and watching American Bandstand and Soul Train every Saturday while I did my chores. My brothers never learned how to dance. A lot of white boys did not know how to dance back then, only slow dance. They did not have saturday chores like me and my sisters did so they were always outside playing in the neighborhood.

      I studied Classical Ballet for decades. I can March, Dance and I have Rhythm. Sadly, Parkinson’s is stealing body. HOW CAN I DANCE IN A WHEELCHAIR or WALKER? I LOVE dancing, any form. I need to get off the extra weight I gained after two years stuck in a wheelchair. So I’ll be practicing at home. My plan is when I regain my strength I’ll locate a ballroom or dance classes. I’m 62. It REALLY is the decades of formal ballet lessons which help me FIGHT the Parkinson’s tremors. I want to learn Bachata and the Tango. Basic Bachata I can tape squares on my floor and memorize the pattern of steps. I’m so happy to have found your channel! 🎉🎉

    • @ferolicious
      @ferolicious Рік тому +1

      Moving with any type of music comes naturally to me now but this came about only after some dabbling with psychedelics in my 30s. Prior to that, I just didn't feel the music.
      It was like it didn't make sense to me on a core level and I couldn't connect with it at all. Because of this, I was also very self-conscious, which of course only made it ten times worse. The best way I can describe it is that it felt a bit like attempting to speak in a foreign language after only having heard other people talk it but without knowing how to even separate the words, let alone know what any of them meant. Just 100% awkward and unnatural, lol.

    I love to casual dance, and have done so for decades...well, since the old 'sock hop' days at school. Over the years I've gotten better, but have gotten to an age where the only time older adults dance, are at weddings! Well, unfortunately both my daughters are married now, as are most of my friends kids, so it's seldom I get to dance any more, but LOVE music with a dance beat (I like many genre's of music, and my Music folder has over 4500 songs) thus, I dance on my own, when nobody is home! I dance much like the instructor here, and find I use my hips quite a bit, the odd spin, and my hand/arms similar to what she showed here. One tip, at least for me, is to get 'into' the music, as if you are truly listening to the beat, (at least for me) my body will follow the beat. As mentioned, the odd time a song will slow...then speed up, throwing the balance off a bit, but you will get right into it again if your concentrating on the beat or tempo.

      I think just like this teaches you how to “dance” in a social setting, not how to become good at dancing, I don’t know if you could learn to be actually good at singing without natural talent 🤷‍♀️. Maybe you could learn to hold a tune, but you can’t just be shown how to have an amazing voice if you don’t already sound good… Pretty sure

That has nothing to do with racism, it should be taken as something we can share, something we can use to unite, to learn from each other, to have fun with each other!!!!!

    The correct dance for the music you've been playing is East Coast Swing aka jitterbug or Jive. Slow the tempo a little and West Coast Swing works. (very popular) There are Swing Dance clubs all over the country that offer very affordable group lessons and you don't need to bring a partner. They normally rotate the students so everyone gets a chance to dance with everyone else.

      EAC and jive are great but isn't the whole point of this video about dancing to high tempo modern casual music in a social setting ie out with friends in a club? It's unlikely they could get the dj to slow the tempo of the songs for them to jive. Time and a place.

    I really think dancing comes from within, u have to let the music move u, if u try and follow techniques u wind up looking like a robot. I think that can be learned an taught. I've been feeling the music from a very young age.

    It would be funny at the next outing if everyone was doing all of these moves and you're thinking that you all watched this same video! 🤣
