Thanks Paul for this latest video... It is always very interesting to watch and listen to your notation playback scores. One think I would like to mention is the following: Overall the sound as you have said is great from the Berlin Orchestra samples, from on bar 11-13 on Vln 1 and 2, after the two slurred quavers, the staccato quaver is too much emphasized and prominent to my taste. Great work and keep up these very informative videos. Best regards, MaxT
@maxtofone yeah, some of the staccato notes do stand out..its an odd one as sometimes its exactly what I want..and sometimes exactly what I don't want! I'm still getting to grips with Musescore, as if this was Sibelius id tweak that with the GMT plugin (or if Dorico..tweak the playback settings) but in Musescore it's not so easy. Having said that..Its easy enough it use hidden dynamics etc to bring it down a bit..so there is a way (I think to tweak!) but I must admit that Musescore has been a revelation to me..as its 90% perfect out the box..so for once I feel I can just enjoy writing..and not tweaking everything..so I've written more in Musescore than I thought I would have. Thanks for the kind words about the videos, I appreciate that mate Kindest Paul
@@Pauldelnevo Thanks Paul for your kind reply! I think when MuseScore 4.4 will be released, I read it won't be long and quite imminent, there will be the possibility to adjust individual notes velocity which I think will make things easier to adjust the odd sticking out note(s). I personally have purchased the Berlin orchestra modules but not the strings as I have read that there are still many bugs in that particular module... can you please confirm that this is the case or maybe some people reviews have been too hard and in its current state the Berlin Strings are more than decently programed. Take care, MaxT
@maxtofone I heard that about 4.4 too..and I’m really looking forwards to that release as then it’s going to be really cool to use Musescore. Honestly..and this is just my opinion..apart from the dynamics issues i raised in this video..and the levels of some instruments..I think it’s stunning..I mean really good..as good as anything I’ve used in a Sibelius..including almost everything from VSL (apart from duality strings that are on a completely different level of lovely!) for the price they are currently on sale for they are the bargain of the decade..I love them..I think the reviews are being a tad harsh if I’m honest..if these where the full libraries from OT to use in a DAW..then maybe they have a point..but they cost £1000’s..to complete the full orchestra with all the samples in that series..compare that price to the full collection of everything in musehub...and it’s £1000’s less for musescore..I paid for them..and haven’t regretted it for a second mate
Great stuff...I've bought the Berlin 3rd party libraries and think they add wonderful new sonic possibilities to MS. Btw, re your issue about hiding the viola stave, but wanting it to still play back -- Here's how to do that: in the 'Instruments' pallet, don't hide the viola stave from there -- instead, click the little triangle to the right, which opens a drop-down menu...then hide the clef. That will simply hide the clef but still allow playback (i.e. because you're not hiding the actual instrument, which, as you noted, mutes the Instrument). Good Luck, and thx for the helpful videos you've been presenting!
@jade8538 Mate...thanks so much for the tip!..its been driving me mad trying to work that one out!..thanks for taking the time to check the video out, and for your kind words mate, I really appreciate that Have a good one, Paul
Thank you for the effort, great upload. I do love the sound of this library but the problems with the dynamics prevents me from buying it, I hope they can fix it in the near future. Note: Musescore Studio 4.4 (available as test version) will have a much better handeling of dynamics, so maybe that will solve most of the dynamic problems of this library, if so I will have a go at Berlin Symphony samples.
@ShimonLevi7 Thanks for taking the time to check the video out. I wouldn't let the dynamics put you off buying it..the samples are wonderful..and are staggering value for money..and the issue is easily fixed by making sure the hairpins meet the dynamic marks correctly..or by adding new dynamic marks into the score. It's only really XML imports affected..if you compose the tune in Musescore Its nowhere near as problematic. Here's another video to show you what I mean. ua-cam.com/video/LKSCKjMNLnw/v-deo.htmlsi=YR0SGqW_JsZub2wU For the money..there wonderful..grab then now whilst there cheap as chips..as it's the deal of the decade mate!
