not on steam? damnit, the week im not home...urg.
I didn't know the Tale Of series, so I tried the demo, but I found myself (with a summary movie) with some sentences said by shioon at the end of the movie that stopped me from buying it because it seems that the ending was "spoiled in a way dramatic"...just want to confirm if the demo ending matches the game ending. Sorry for the bad english...
Wow, this game is absolutely gorgeous, the combat looks slick af, the music sounds like the best the series has had in years, and the characters are super charming... buuuut the enemy stagger animation doesn't look like it's a GameCube game from 2003, so I'll be skipping the demo and cancelling my pre-order.
I'm kidding, of course. I am *so* hyped to try out this demo tomorrow! :D
Dude you had me for a second I really started to believe you. I’ve been reading comments about Diablo 2 and a few people were like “ am not getting this game because it’s too clunky it takes me two-three seconds to manage my inventory and it has no auto sort my inventory feature.
@@connordutton674 I really have no idea why people let such minor things keep them away from an experience they will enjoy like that, they're really just doing themselves a disservice at the end of the day
@@HybridAngelZero : Well, I do get why people are more concerned about it than usual since this shift to what is essentially more of a DMC style staggering leaves a much greater unknown. The key, however is that it depends on their ability to make enemies that pair well with the combat and THAT'S why I personally am excited about it.
Until now, my issue with Tales combat was that it felt like they were trying too much to develop a system that would make it easy to stitch together enemies and bosses. For example, in Persona, you can easily make a boss by just putting X Persona with some increased stats or higher level and then stick some particular parameters on it. That's a turn based system however. Tales has been kind of trying to do the same thing, but it's an action game, and it honestly doesn't work well. :/
To that end, the reason I'm excited about Arise is because this system is, well, more reliant on its enemy designs and their mechanics. It puts them outside that comfort zone and requires more depth from the enemies. Will they be able to do it? Honestly couldn't say, but I'd rather they fall short here and learn to do better than just sit back in that old comfort zone.
I AM READY FOR THE FULL GAME! Keep up the good work and hope you’re doing well, Jay
I honestly didn't think I would like the game, but I just wasted 3 hours playing the demo, so I guess im going to buy the game lol.
Me too i was bored and i saw that a popular series name tales has a demo so i said why not no from just the demo i'm fan for the series LOL
Good god Shionne's battle animations are gorgeous. I might play her just to watch her dance across the battlefield.
Best of luck to the writers to top Velvet though, that won't be easy.
Damn right, Velvet made us hope, despair, cry, and smile. The voice actor Cristina Vee really put a lot into the voice. Also fun fact, Erica Lindbeck, the voice of Magilou is voicing Shionne
Did try the demo and i'm happy aboit the state of the game.
I'll preorder it now because i already love it :)
Thanks for the video, Jay! For me this is the absolute BEST coverage on UA-cam of the demo for someone who _plans_ to play it but still wants to know some quick info before diving in.
Already finished the demo. Definitely getting this game. But I'll get the Steam version.
Same here! It's PC all the way for me. I'm glad that they have different performance modes for the console versions (1 that prioritizes framerate, 1 that prioritizes graphics) but I'm definitely going to want to the best of both worlds for this. :D
I suppose that's a PS5 only thing, right? I've played the demo on PS4 and there was no performance setting, obviously. Unless I'm missing something, but it's unlikely.
@@blackrosedragon88gm yea ps5 thing only
I've been thinking PC I'm just not sure how well my rig will handle it compared to the ps5.
I love Jay's defense of this game, especially on Twitter. It really makes me more excited than I already was, and I was really excited to begin with. But I'm going to avoid even the demo, I really do want to go in knowing almost nothing but I'm glad to see people liking it, it looks great.
Just wanted to say thank you for specifically pointing out the unvoiced cutscenes. That was literally the only major gripe I had with the demo. The rest is fantastic. For what it's worth, here are my notes about it, just for fun.
Things i liked.
Awesome music. Seriously, it's so far a huge step up from Sakuraba's recent work. I've liked a number of his soundtracks, but he felt a bit samey as of late. THis is great!
Skits are interesting. I particulally enjoy the audio queue when they are available. Nice touch! I have no trouble with the new direction as long as they retain the same character development I've come to associate with them.
Enjoy all the random party chatter in and out of combat.
Combat is enjoyable. Control scheme took a bit to get used to, but I got there. Combat has some good sound design. Attacks feel weightier. I also love all the party banter and audio queues when certain events are triggered. It allows me to pay more attention to what I'm doing instead of looking for visual prompts.
Very nice visuals from what I can tell. Big step up in quality.
Good minimap and world map. As someone who easily gets turned around in 3d environments, this is a huge plus.
Final (and only) actual cutscene sat the stage for what I am hoping will be an interesting story, and stood in stark contrast to one of the demo's biggest low points for me.
You can actually view skits you've already seen DURING the game, instead of waiting till the very end, or new game+. Thank you! I do hope they will allow you to divide them into catagories however. That was very handy in previous games.
Ray Chase! I really enjoy this guy, both as a voice actor and an audio book narrator.
Cooking has skits associated with it. This is nothing new, but it happened the very first time. I don't really use cooking much in Tales games, but if it causes this to happen, I may do so more.
The little blerbs about each area when you enter them. Kind of nice while waiting for load times.
Things I disliked - And as a caviot, I have severely limited vision so these may not matter to most.
Subtitles during skits don't have character names. This isn't a big deal, it's helpful for some.u
Text size is smaller than it needs to be. Hard to read, or convercely, have my screen reader read for me. That's really frustrating ... but this is like 15 years now of beating a dead and severely decayed horse.
I'm going to get flack for this one, but ... Hootle. I really dislike mascot characters ... most of the time. But I'll reserve judgement, because you just never know.
I thought the text was very small too, and my vision is only mildly limited (-6 power). Hopefully they will have options for text size in the full game and other accessibility options.
@@chronicallychic here's hoping. Eastern developers don't generally have a good track record for such things, but there's a first time for everythinggh There's at least Windows Magnifier and to a lesser extent, the PS magnifier in the meantime. Though it's not exactly seamless.
Wow, this is probably the earliest I've ever been for a Jay RPG video (in under 30mins from upload).
I trust your previews 100%. Wasn't planning to get the demo by fear of spoilers but I'll give it a shot before the full game. Thanks!!
Just played the demo absolutely incredible best combat in the series honestly best combat in any jrpg I've played the art style is gorgeous this is really shaping up to be the best tales game the wait to September 10th is gonna feel like years
the channel name is really clever ! made me laugh for a while
Getting excited for this game! Didn’t know the demo is out today... but I do NOW! Thanks!
I AM SO HYPED FOR THIS GAME
Can't freakin' wait to play it. So f****** hyped!
Felt amazing. Rin is super powerful once you learn her Artes charge skill. Literally the only character the felt a bit out of the rest was dohlahim
Shionne: Don't touch me, you'll get hurt
Alphen: I can't feel pain...
Shionne: I don't think you get it. I meant, don't touch me, or I will find a way to hurt you.
Alphen: Boy, am I ever going to get that blazing blade now.
The game absolutly looks amazing and so full of detail in its environments, the only thing I want to know now is if the game is a full fledged 60 hr experience. Alot of modern jrpgs these days always seem to be trimmed back with less volume or scope for some reason and feel just smaller then traditional classic rpgs of years past. Given this is tales though I guess I should not be to worried about it. But still i hope the games world, story and everything is like a 60 hr adventure not like a 20-30 hr game. That just would not be enough to do this game justice.
I'll be perfectly honest I was iffy about the game cause I wasnt sure about some stuff but after playing the demo just once it's a day 1 buy for me now. That demo was amazing
Still can’t find a PS5 to play this game. I tried the demo looks good on my base PS4. The battles were hectic I wasn’t to sure what was going on lol
Looking forward to this
The games combat is amazing
This game looks absolutely stunning
After playing scarlet nexus this game an easy transition
can't wait when they show us how coop works.
Will you be doing an impressions video on the full game on PC? I just want to know if the PC port has issues or not before purchase.
So ... The old victory poses didn't came back ... Right :( ?
just a sweet sweet 2 more weeks
You can't save your game play so each time you start again.
Its not bad not sure about the spoiler part as I'm a newbie to this series, but actually quite like it.
May have to wait a month or two before buying the full game, but unless my xbox breaks down this is a game I hope to play properly!
What's the music at the very beginning? Is it from the game? It's really good
If the Full Game is Fully Voice, that would be AMAZING! I wouldn't mind if some quest or something isn't Voiced, but all of the Story and all Skits voiced would be amazing. I skip the demo and just wait for the full release, because i'am pretty sure i will enjoy the game. So i don't need a demo to find out if i will or will not enjoy the game.
Idk I wish they changed the names or something in the demo. I didn't like going into Viscint knowing Dohalim was a good guy. I mean yes I know it was pretty clear from the way the citizens were being treated but also the group seemed pretty suspicious when they first arrived so I probably would have had been wary trusting him in the beginning myself. However, since I knew going in that he's literally one of your teammates based on the demo... well there wasn't much room for betrayal or surprises.
Cant wait for the release of the game. Played the demo and the only question I have is will we be able to change the controls button?
What is the music at the end of the vid it is epic! Thanks for the info, I can’t decide between waiting for the full game and trying the demo to see how well it plays on Xbox one.
No harm it giving the demo a go to see how it runs, it's very respectful of those who don't want spoilers before the game launches. :)
The song at the end is "Take Up The Cross - Arrange - (Tales of Phantasia)" from the Tales of VS. OST!
And in the DEMO have not 2 mini-BOOS in reallity is 3 kinda "secret" (Mesmald) ....
Am loving the game. I just hope that there is a way to assign more attacks to a person. Having 3 for on ground and 3 for in air makes it awkward if you want to assign a lot of spells or grounds attacks for a combo for some characters. Another issue is if you want to play a spellcaster/healer/ranged character like Shionne you can't without going into the menu and swapping artes which breaks the flow of combat. The reason being is that with only 3 artes assigned, that leaves you with one heal, one spell attack and one regular attack, not much diversity tbh.
Playing with melee only characters is fine though because it flows naturally to have 6 artes that can links into one another.
In the full game you'll be able to assign a total of 12 artes (6 for ground, 6 for air). :)
@@JRPGGaming oh wow, how do you know this?!
It was confirmed in one of the Tales of Arise live stream events last month. By holding a button modifier (like one of the triggers for example) you can access a further 3 artes for each ground and air. So you have 3 artes on Square, Circle, Triangle then 3 more on L1+Square/Circle/Triangle. :)
@@JRPGGaming Oh neato, thank you Jay reporting that! Yea being unable to use more than 3 artes on the ground feels...limiting
Is Tales of Arise a sequel to any other Tales games? I’ve never played the Tales series so I want to know if I should watch something to understand Arisr
arise is standalone
although some tales series are, but usually they have the numbers on the title, like "Tales of Destiny 2" for example
@@floyddominique3731 Okay awesome, thank you
I'm curious. If Switch could get Ninokuni 2 and DBZ Kakarot, could it get this game too?
Just want to check 2 things, since a lot of us got the demo yesterday.
1. Can anyone besides Alphen enter Over Limit in the demo?
2. Are you sure it isn't holding two arte buttons to activate the mystic arte?
@Vegesther Thanks, I wasn't sure how to trigger the mystic arte.
My only gripe with the game right now is the awful performance on PS4 (i'm sure it falls below 30fps in combat), besides that, i'm pretty excited for the game (i preordered the game like two months ago).
Oh, there's also the pop-in issue, i hope they fix it before release.
I played the demo on base ps4 and honestly it exceeds my expectations. Scarlet nexus's graphics is kinda bad on ps4 imo, but this one is pretty good. It's good enough, but i hope it could be a little bit better on release version.
the pop in won't be fixed till release and it's even on XSX and PS5 present which is hilarious
@@Comrade_C : Those aren't the PS5/XSX versions either. The Xbox demo says "XBOX ONE" on it. So this is still an earlier build of a previous gen edition.
I definitely noticed some pop-in, but I was pleasantly surprised by the overall performance on base PS4.
@@chronicallychic hmmm, seems that i'm the only one bothered by the performance on Base PS4, i mean, it's not so bad, but is a little bit jarring since it could be at 45-50 Fps at a time, and then suddenly drop to 30fps or below (Especially in the heat of battle)
I'll be playing the game day one regardless, i was just hoping it would be like Scarlet Nexus and be locked at a stable 30fps on Base PS4.
Strange. I'm subscribed, but I haven't seen you on my subscription list.
Anyways thanks for the heads up.
There's a secret second boss that really cranks up the difficulty too! Don't know what the trigger is but I got him on my first play through on Normal
Yeah, it seems to be RNG. Some people getting it on their first play, some on their fifth, and some not at all lol. I'm on 3 runs of the public demo so far and haven't had it appear yet.
@@JRPGGaming : Really? It might be random? I haven't gotten to see it either. :/ I've done all 3 'ending scenes'. (Incidentally, the voice acting in them was SO GOOD. I'm now thoroughly excited for what this story is going to bring after hearing those. )
@@JRPGGaming The second boss fight only happens if you manage to kill the scorpion in under 5 minutes. It can be quite difficult and taxing because you can't save before. I had to set a timer and let my party die if I couldn't do it in 5. Else you need to redo everything.
Did i spot at 3:32 the word arts in spanish?
Usually artes when holded down leads to other artes in like a chain memorize the chain and then your able to make use of all kinds of artes if we are only allowed to have 3 ground and 3 air then I guess I'll have to memorize multiple characters element abilities like who has earth abilities, wind, fire, water, so then I can plan out who to switch to mid battle and exploit weaknesses how tedious though.
In the final game you get 6 artes for ground, 6 artes for air :)
@@JRPGGaming oh cool that helps their were a few skills I wanted but only was able to equip three like dragon swarm was one of the skills I like but I also know having a variety of different element artes also help
My favourite:
"- with my comrades I'm unstoppable!
- what about without them?
- ummm... more stoppable?"
If the full game is the same as the demo - this is my favourite jRPG of 2021 so far. I love all things in the demo. Peak of jRPGs for me was in 2000, later the jRPGs were too anime-y and too cringe'y. This one hits the precise spot of everything balanced.
Were the ending reward videos depending on the character you start with also in the original one? I think those also deserve a spoiler warning based on what I've seen.
Yea
And yes, they disregard and change in character mid-demo.
While I was downloading the demo, I read the description, and it says: "Explore the world of Dahna, etc..."
I hope we can explore the other world, Rena, Tales of Eternia/Symphonia style, and not Tales of Xillia 1 style.
But I fear the second planet exploration will be limited or nonexistent...
Fingers crossed! 😭
I think we'll get to see Rena as well. The premise of the story is that you're freeing all the different regions of Dahna from Rena's rule so I think we can expect to spend lots more time on Dahna than we do Rena but I don't think Rena will feel quite as rushed/last minute as Elympios did in Xillia.
I hope so. 😊
@@JRPGGaming i really really hope so, otherwise i would be reeeeeeeally disappointed if we never get to see Rena
Sad that not bee a demo for PC ....
Sooo is the demo going to be on anything other than Sony platforms? Or is Sony going to stay forever stuck up?
It's on Xbox though
I can’t figure out how to change characters during combat
By default, hold L1 and press the corresponding D-pad button. You can also open the menu and press 'options' I believe.
Draw distance looks terrible. I don't understand why Bamco UE4 games are like this, Scarlet Nexus also has the same issue, so much pop-in right in front of you.
The gameplay and graphics look pretty darn good, but Arise is going to have to work its butt off to compete with the storylines of Berseria and Symphonia...
I don’t like the way they are handling mystic artes this time; it seems like there’s no way to choose when to use them in order to deploy them strategically, as with past entries like berseria and vesperia
Is really a spoiler if it's a offical demo that you can play ? Like how you can spoiled yourself of something that you're actually playing lmao
Those dead eyes in skits are almost a dealbreaker for day one purchase for me. It seriously weirding me out to a point I want to shake with eerie disgust. I wish they stuck to Zestiria all body animated skits :/
I like the old anime skips better ...this new skips is not fixed my kind of liking
I've already grown to love the new skits. I also liked the old ones. It's lucky there is lots of anime cutscenes in the full game to make up for a loss of 2D anime portraits in skits. :)
I'm happy to say that what I was most afraid of, the performance of the game on PS4, was unfounded: it runs very well. However... I won't be buying it first day. They went with a same-price policy with this one and it's 70 euros for both the PS5 AND Ps4 and I'm not paying that much. I'll get it when it's 50 or so.
Someone has been listening to 70s music.
Just the Tales of VS. soundtrack actually lol
Combat felt really off to begin with, having Artes mapped the way they are.
I had trouble the first fight by trying to use Artes by neutral/stick plus Artes input purely out of habit. Wasn't until I had two party members drop that I was like, oh right. Artes have their own button now ahaha.
This was my exact complaint, and why isn’t anything linked to a heavy or light attack? It’s strange to me
The next tales game better be ps5 and series x only that's when it can really show off and not be held back by last gen
Aww man I dont really like Law's English voice actor
Honestly it's ok to me, he does kiritos English voice in SAO
I don’t like the controls for the game 😕
Good for you.
@@chimeratcg07 I’m not happy about that, thought it would play like Ni No Kuni II, at least have combos assigned to heavy and light attacks…not a singular button, it’s weird
@@TrvisXXIII this isn't NnK II, plus that game sucked.
@@chimeratcg07 lol of course you’d say that. The game is incredibly addicting on expert mode, and there’s a ton to do outside combat. If it’s the story you’re referring to that’s boring, I enjoy games solely for their combat. Story is a plus in my book and not the end all be all.
@@chimeratcg07 imagine thinking ni no kuni 2 was a bad game🤣 i platinumed that game fool.

Oh wow that guys English vocal track is bad. Girl not so bad. So glad these days the original voices are always available. Gone are the days we had terrible dub or nothing.
my god the dub sounds horrible good thing i played in JP
The UI has no personality at all.
Omg why is the english dub always sounds like a parody of a parody?
ENGLISH DUB IS CRINGE
The next tales game better be ps5 and series x only that's when it can really show off and not be held back by last gen
Not really worried about that. Tales has been behind a generation for a very long time. Up till this game it was practically just a ps2 game lol
Arise started development on the PS4 and UE4 is a very scalable engine which is why it's able to be scaled for both last gen and current gen.
With UE4 and even UE5 being as scalable as they are there's no real reason not to release on last gen until you need something like the SSD in current gen consoles to do something specific. We'll have to see what the future holds for Tales after Arise. :)
Oh it will when the PS6 is coming out lmao
@@ken7007 the delay between this game and the lady was due to a gameplay reboot and new engine for the tales team, I imagine production won’t be this score ever again for them tbh
