@MelodicWolf origami refers to something being made out of paper and using only folds to hold its original shape with no cuts, glue, or stiching, this is the farthest thin from origami, its just in the title to draw in people who dont know what it is
@MelodicWolf but he pierced the fabric and added a button to keep it closed, from box to pouch, its still the furthest thing from origami, i guess if i had a house and painted it red, i could call it a barn
I think by origami he simply means "transform by folding" which it definitely does. Let's not hound him over semantics lol leather would suck for real origami anyway
@MelodicWolf so if i fold something then staple it and glue it to retain the original folds shape its still origami? wow those paper books really make, making a paper crane look hard when i could have cut out the shape and glued pieces together
@MelodicWolf if you believe this is origami you are missing a lot of sense, if something is folded it is not origami, Origami means to not have any cuts, glue's, stiching ect to retain the shape of the folds. thats why this video is click bait, Why are you defending it? why isnt this called Folded Leather Coin Pouch?
Why... can’t it be inspired by origami? The folds are clearly emulating the folds made in so many of the traditional origami paper bases. I don’t understand why anyone is making a big issue out of it. It was a beautifully crafted wallet, a well shot video, well-meaning and aptly titled/inspired -and all you have to say is, “take out origami”? So unnecessarily fussy.
Greetings again, thanks . you are indeed the GURU on leather working. seeing the way the planning, shaping, cutting, fininshing, I keep wondering what a wonderful Plastic Surgeon you would have made. project ideas are simply superb
i watch such precious craft & art videos because my hands aren't as precise & stable ever since i was small. i'm just a clumsy person XD that's why i never make stuff myself for a living. but i admire every videos & the people behind them so much, just like this one. this is a nice video. thank you for sharing it with us.
I don't understand why this is called origami. Origami is defined as "the traditional Japanese art or technique of folding paper into a variety of decorative or representational forms." This project is simply cut and sewn. It is nice, but origami?
Cool! I never thought about the softness of the leather that I bought and how difficult it would be to cut it, specifically the tight and curvy cuts. However, I must finish my first project as best I can!!! 😩😝
Very nice. I hope there will be opportunity to buy the pattern for this. Those who are wondering the word " origami " here. It is origami because when you fold it, it will be something else than in the beginning. Don´t niggle.
Hi! The supplies list link for the tie dye wallet is not working anymore. Do you think there is any way you can make that page available again? I want to know what leather you used and what type of dye. Thank you so much and keep doing this great content :)
which ones? The tools in the tool list are usually better versions of what we're using (or different if it's a branded piece of hardware), all comparable at the very least :)
@@Corter x-acto instead of the olfa craft knife. although i agree the olfa is a better version, shorter blade bends less when cutting radii. Edge Beveler is different from weavers, dunno what brand. And the rotary punch looks like a CS osborne? Its just i like to buy tools based on what i see professionals in vidoes use so I know they are the choice among pros
the edge beveler actually is a Weaver beveler :) had it for about 8 years now and it's my fav! Rotary punch is some old piece I got on ebay when I was 19 (well over a decade ago), there's no branding on it but the Weaver link has a similar quality piece with the same size punches. I prefer x-acto's because I've got giant hands, and the x-acto handle is larger and more comfortable for me. However the olfa is a better fit for most people who, unlike me, aren't around 6 and a half feet tall :) so that was a very specific choice because I don't want people buying this giant chunky knife handle and not being able to cut comfortably.
@@Corter oh ok. Thats impressive it lasted 8 years, maybe thats why i didnt recognize, i didnt see theirs with that semicircle logo on it. Thanks for the reply!
Great work...but real men don't carry change purses. Could you make something that us manly men, when we get off of our Harleys, could use to pay for our ice creams from the trucks?
It's called 'pockets' in the modern world. Coin currency will unfortunately never make a comeback. Endurance is too long. Job security making new bills and such. Too easy to fool people with counterfeit. Cards, and very soon invasive biometrics. Sure would be nice to have $5-10-20 coins. Nevermore...
I love how you do not have any commentating or music to your videos. Just the sound of making leather goods.
I like it when he explains what he is doing....
huh, i never knew origami had so much cutting and stitching.

Don’t forget the gluing
Agreed. Origami is single sheet with multiple complex folds...no cuts nor sew. The title is bullshit.
Watch this, this is origami leather work:

amazing!日本語で失礼します。手の動きひとつひとつに見入って、あっという間に動画が終わってしまいます。
いつも素敵な動画をありがとうございます!Thank you for uploading a video. It’s fun to watch.
I was looking to buy a leather wallet, but I saw that the prices were a little bit high, I decided to find why and now I see, its art!
it's more than art. it's craftsmanship :)
I think by origami he simply means "transform by folding" which it definitely does. Let's not hound him over semantics lol leather would suck for real origami anyway
If I had come across this video when I was a kid, I probably would have taken leather-working far more seriously in the Boy Scouts.
Nice, easy but take out origami...

@MelodicWolf makes a bait title to bait people, you even said its not origami, check and mate
@MelodicWolf nah its just an origami like behavior

I'm a senior aged man trying to improve my skill level...your videos are outstanding and encouraging..thank you for sharing...any patterns posted?
We'll have patterns you can download soon!
That was an absolute joy from start to finish. Thank you
This is very soothing to watch even if it has literally nothing to do with origami
Greetings again,
thanks . you are indeed the GURU on leather working.
seeing the way the planning, shaping, cutting, fininshing, I keep wondering what a wonderful Plastic Surgeon you would have made.
project ideas are simply superb
Certainly is a work of art, but absolutely not origami.

You sound like a real buzz kill 😅 imagine being this picky
This is so satisfying to watch 😍 I really want to get into working with leather one day
Wow, I'm impressed with the level of detail!

That's way cooler than expected. Lol. Nice work. 👍
Nice finishing techniques!
What type of oil did you use in the beginning to make it look darker?

This is great! I had something similar to this when I was a kid. Don’t know where it came from or where it went. Maybe I’ll make one for my boy.
This is so relaxing to watch
It is in the use of a few tools incredible things are made. Thank you!
Nifty little pouch! Good vid, thanks!

You oiled it with what actually?

@@Corter thanx
Yay first again! See im your biggest fan! Ha
You're quick to the draw! Thank you :)
Its nice but its not stylish origami at all its more like a "bag"
Nice .morocco
Hey did 1.2 millimeter cowhide leather is good for wallet
I understand that adds are important for your channel but 3 times in a short video is a bit to much for me.
But great stuff again, thank you
,👍👍👍
Asmr 😋🖐
it's very cool, but the origami part is pretty misleading - i was expecting just hands and leather, making the pouch through folding alone
Класс!
这很美式。
Origami is probably poorly translated, for origami just means folding and the purse is called a folding pouch. :D
I don't think this is considered origami.
Although I see in the description you said "origami-like"
poor people's pouch 😂😂
Who gives a shit if it’s “not origami” it still fuckin folds
my coin purse was a cut pice of suck
Those aren't the same tools in the tool list -_-

@@MarkBorrelli u trolling me now bro? Lol
How is that origami?
I wondered the same thing.. Turned out awesome but it's not origami.. I believe it's called click bait..
It's so good,but maybe it isn't origami.
Very nice but I can't see anything remotely origami about it. It's just a lot of pieces cut and sewn together.
Origami - "ori" means "to fold"
"gami" means *paper*
Not Origami, just a purse!!!
I don't see any oru, either no kami, so.. why origami?
