He knew a bit of seventh day Adventist prophecy. Note he used our beliefs about Sabbath keepers being sealed of God and all others taking the "mark of the beast" doesn't have full picture of the entire prophecies of Revelation and Daniel otherwise he would be able to swallow Sabbath keeping. Seems sincere in his love for Christ and his studies of scripture just needs Adventist guidance. Perfect time to pray for my brother's education in prophecy and clarity of heart and purpose to truly understand how true biblically interpreted prophecy is extremely accurate proving who the beasts are and what their mark or marks of authority are and Christ's mark. I'll be praying for you friend. You put up a good debate some positions are truly indefensible. And yet you were impressive.
If you keep on following the sabbath you will end up to HELL .....FOLLOW THIS SCRIPTURE ACT2:38 BAPTISE ALL OF YOU IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST FOR THE REMISSION OF SIN.....ITS ALL ABOUT OUR ETERNAL LIFE......LEAVE THE SABBATH ASIDE
akuila uqe you are saying only believe on Jesus and to be baptize and to be save from sin, how can you know sin if there’s no law? Neither you know Jesus yet don’t follow His commandment is very far from reality.
A great debate! It did open my mind to a new understanding of the Sabbath. God said "Remember the Sabbath..." because He knew we would forget. If the Sabbath is important to Him then it should be important to us.
Have you read in Hebrews of the Sabbath God want 's us to enter? Hebrews 4:3 "Now we who have believed enter that rest, just as God has said, "So I declared on oath in my anger, 'They shall never enter my rest.'" And yet his works have been finished since the creation of the world."
The old testament sabath was different, now our rest is in Jesus Christ, Jesus entered that rest in the sepulchre, we also will also enter that rest and will be resurrected, the unbelievers will have no rest.
The best days of my life is when I started keeping the Sabbath at 44 year old. Pastor Doug was used by the Holy Spirit to open my mind! Alleluiah!! I saw this debate when it was aired, but I am still in awe of all the Sabbath truth presented by Pastor Doug. I praise God He opened my mind towards His Truth! Unless we allow the Holy Spirit to work in us, all studies are just head knowledge!
The "Holy Spirit" is blamed for a whole lot of error. Sabbath-keeping for Gentile and even Jewish Christians is an error. Read Romans 7:1-7. Ask: "What kind of Law are we released from, according to Paul?" Follow not intellectual men but the simple teachings of the Apostles. Acts 17:11.
@@sharylcobb6857 quote--- Sabbath-keeping for Gentile and even Jewish Christians is an error....unquote So, Israel disobeyed the Sabbah? Jews disobeyed the Sabbath? . Jesus disobeyed the Sabbath and ALL mankind has disobeyed it !!! According to whom??? I suggest you THINK what would happen had Jesus disobeyed the Sabbath!!!! That makes Jesus a sinner!!! NOT qualified to be our savior, NOR our propituation foir our sins!!! Means Jesus is NOT in heaven.. He is NOT at the right hand of God!! He is NOT in heaven to prepare a place for us!!! DEATH by being stoned!!!! >>>Quote--Read Romans 7:1-7. Ask: "What kind of Law are we released from, according to Paul?" What is the meaning of Romans 7 verse 1? Paul is telling his audience of believers in Rome that, like the widow who is no longer bound by the covenant of marriage to a dead husband, Christian believers are no longer bound to the covenant of the Law. Is the Sabbath a part of the covenant??? NO!!! IT IS ONE of the Ten Commandments!!!!! Is the Sabbath in the Old Testament? Leviticus 23 outlines annual holy-day feasts in the Israelite calendar, but it actually begins with a reemphasis of the weekly Sabbath: “it is the sabbath of the LoRD in all your dwellings” (v. 3; the Sabbath is also mentioned in verses 11, 15, 16, 32, and 38).
@ We must DIE TO THE LAW in order to be "joined to Christ." He has a new law for us. Romans 7:1-7 What part of the Law does "do not covet" appear? What Moses wrote or God? If God goves a certain type of law, He can upgrade it when He makes a new covenant with man. He did, through Christ. So let us live under the New Covenant, wherein is found the blood of the Son of God, His Spirit, and His new "Law of liberty." Hebres 8:13.
@@sharylcobb6857 What IS the New Covenant? In the Bible, the New Covenant is a promise from God to forgive sins and restore a relationship with those who turn to Him. It is a new relationship between God and humans that is mediated by Jesus Christ. Some features of the New Covenant include: Forgiveness: The New Covenant promises to forgive the sins of those who trust in God. Mediator: Jesus is the mediator of the New Covenant. Eternal: The New Covenant is everlasting. Promises: The New Covenant confirms the promises made to Abraham, David, and in Eden. Baptism: Believers enter the New Covenant through baptism, which associates them with Christ's sacrifice. New Commandment: The New Covenant includes the "New Commandment", which is about loving one's neighbor. The prophets Moses, Jeremiah, and Ezekiel predicted the New Covenant. NOT ONE word of the weekly Sabbath being abolished!!!
This is a new subject for me. I've always thought the Sabbath was Sunday and only since reading part of the Bible have realized that the Catholic church changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday, which they didn't have the authority to do. People need to read the Bible to find the truth, not just listen to sermons.
No one changed it. Sabbath is still the last day of the week. Sunday was adopted as a day to celebrate the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Sabbath was given to rest and reflect on the goodness of God.
@@onlycars693 *Exodus 31:14-15* 14 You shall keep the Sabbath, because it is holy for you. [...] 15 Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the LORD.
Look closer at scripture there is no way the Sabbath is in effect unless you want to keep the whole law of the old covenant. I would urge you to look at the foundation of SDA and where the doctrines come from.
Wow I can’t believe I am only watching this 5 years later! As the song says: “…the truth goes marching on!” And, pastor Doug, praise the Lord you spoke the Truth with power and conviction. The Holy Spirit will truly use this to reach many. Even five years later!
Indeed myself as well. Five years later. Truth. Our brother in Christ here I feel he knew that he was hearing The Truth. I would love to know if he came to The Truth five years later 😊
This is the approach we should take as Seventh Day Adventists. We should be open minded to other’s opinions and correct them where necessary so we all may be saved in God’s kingdom.
People are saved by the blood of Christ not by keeping the sabbath Romans 10:13, John 14:6 & 10:10. Do you think the religious leaders who put Jesus on the cross will be saved? They were strict sabbath keepers!! Stop worshipping the sabbath!!!
@@christophercoupe5006 thank you....it is my understanding that believing in Jesus as a personal savior, that he died on the cross for our sins and rose to sit on God's right hand till the day of his return is what a person has to do to enter heaven..... did I miss something?
Great respectful debate. I’ve struggled with this subject for years but listening to Pastor Doug has sealed the deal for me. The Bible is very clear in the old and New Testaments that we are to keep the Sabbath holy!! Thank you Jesus and thank you pastor Doug for clearing it for me! God Bless
@@fayelewis5476 Hogwash! Willful denial of extensive, consistent Bible truth, and FOR WHAT? You WANT to believe and teach the breaking of the commandments? NO good can come of this - not for you, not for anyone who might make the mistake of following you!
@Mike Flanagan Are you unaware of the nature of the problems Jesus repeatedly had to face with the pompous, arrogant "church leaders" of His time here? He never BROKE THE SABBATH - no matter what they accused Him of. I wouldn't be so quick to JOIN their ranks by similar accusations, were I you. Consider some of His words in addressing them! Are you also unfamiliar with His pointing out their hypocrisy in complaining about His saving life or limb or otherwise healing suffering humanity when they would think nothing of pulling a dumb animal out of a life-threatening predicament - or mercifully watering their animals? What's the principle there? Clearly that exerting effort ("working") to bless another of God's children is NOT the sort of "work" that is prohibited in the 4th commandment! You had BETTER apply adequate cogitation and discernment to understand that PRINCIPLE, while KEEPING in mind that Jesus' other explanations of PROPER commandment keeping leaned toward MORE precise "keeping," not discarding ANY of them altogether, as you seem wont to do. Again - like I said - you may be free to "roll your own" and rationalize away any and all obligations to modify the desires of your own heart, but don't expect a "well done, thou good and faithful servant..." with that minimal level of interest in God's will. And the ... may be worth considering.
@Mike Flanagan I already answered that question, but if your blinders prevent your discerning that the first time, there's no point in my repeating myself. I do find it quite ironic that you can infer that you enjoy the advantage over me in supposedly having God's law written on your heart - all the while arguing your best to excuse your rationalizing away ANY acceptance of ONLY the most important of the commandments. Oh - that's NOT God's law now. Yikes - buddy - we got NO MORE to talk about. Good luck.

I don't keep any of the laws that was given to moses including the ten commandments. The law give to them that do those things and use fair to stop them with out changing them. For those under the law if God should speak from heaven and say people don't need to keep the law and can do whatever they want to do and their will be no punishment those under the law would just go back to their old way of robbery and killing. The thing I do is because of love and not the law
Wow, what a wonderful debate. I am a Seventh Day Adventist for 15 years now. I was led to this church by the Holy Spirit but not without a fight. I know the video is 3yrs old but thank you Pastor Doug for your ministry and reaching out to All people. I have gotten saved this year early January before my 28th birthday. I had no church or knew where to go, I was nervous due to how many churches was around and I wanted the truth and only the truth. I prayed to God, and the Holy Spirit helped me into finding a Seventh Day Adventist church. Which I never heard nor knew what it stood for. I was reading the Bible and learned about the Sabbath, I didn’t see everything at first. I was like wow a church that’s on Saturdays, I’m used to seeing churches open on Sundays. I remember nervous and shaking walking up to the church I kept praying to God is this the church for me. I went inside greeted by amazing people and I was alone, I sat down and immediately I felt the presence of God saying now your safe my child, and I cried immensely and couldn’t stop. That day in February I stood up to give my life to God, I got baptized in May, and I met my Husband at church and we got married in September and God has completely transformed me and blessed me and I had no idea what was ahead of me because of living in darkness and the world all of my life. No one spoke to me about God or Jesus. It took up until 27 that I had nothing left in me that I was looking forward to ending my life, I kept looking at the cross on a church building at a new job I started. I didn’t know why physically but spiritually something was shifting, it was preparing me my heart and my thoughts for Christ and sure enough He came to save me. My Husband introduced me to your ministry and were very blessed. Being a Seventh Day Adventist and keeping the Sabbath has been more than a blessing for me.

NO ONE has authority to change God's holy laws, and if there was any change, Jesus himself would of told His disciples before Jesus ascended to heaven, but Jesus did not change any of God's holy laws. The papacy admitted that the Sabbath IS on Saturday, but they believe their catholic church's "power", THEY changed Sabbath from Saturday to sunday, and are making all the world follow its doctrine of demons. @Mike Flanagan I don't want to argue with you, but would like to clarify some things. So are you saying we all should be Jews? Or should we be just called Christians as in Acts 11:26, Acts 26:28, Romans 12:9, Galatians 5:1, Colossians 3:18, Colossians 4:2 and 1 Peter 4:16? Are Christians just another sect like the Pharisees? You do know that the meaning of Adventist just means that you believe in the second coming? Does not Christ say in John 14:3 "that if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you will be also. So wasn't Christ the original Adventist? does not John in Revelation 22:7, 12 write down Christ words again? Would that not tell you that the apostles believed in the advent of Christ? I would like to here more on your reasoning and maybe some Bible verses to go along with them.

Thanks so much, you cleared this up for me.... I now covenant to keep the Sabbath and not overdo it. But I have a problem with the other 9 commandments. I cannot keep them. For example, the one about "Thou shalt not Murder" - if one looks at what Jesus defines murder, it is also including "Hating your brother in your heart" which I have done a million times. Also about the prohibition about committing adultery. Jesus also said that if I lust after a woman in my heart, I have broken this commandment. I have not really lusted after a woman, but have had homosexual lust after a man. So if I cannot obey the other 9 commandments. *My question, have you?* "Thou shalt not have any other gods" - how about Ellen White? She is an idol to so many adventists. Many would say that if you remover her from her pedestal, the SDA religion would not exist. How do I keep from breaking the other nine commands? I've already referred to three I've broken. Doug said that if we break one, we have broken them all. Now, if I cannot keep three of the 10 (idolatry, Murder, adultery) perfectly, what is the use of trying to obey one more. How many things would I have to do to keep the Sabbath perfectly? I could not get into an elevator and press the button to go to my apartment - that would be lighting a fire. I could not kindle the lamp to read the Bible in the dark - that is work. I could not carry my Bible out of my house - that would be carrying a burden. How can I be told to keep the Sabbath when I cannot even keep the other 9 perfectly. I've disobeyed my parents by not honoring them, how do I do this now that I'm older. I cannot reverse what I've done. Please offer any advice about this sensitive topic. Thanks

Revelation 21:23 New American Standard Bible 23 And the city has no need of the sun or of the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God has illuminated it, and its lamp is the Lamb. Revelation 22:5 New American Standard Bible 5 And there will no longer be any night; and they [a]will not have need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God will illuminate them; and they will reign forever and ever.
I took me a while to view this but I am really glad I did. I praise God for you , Pastor Doug. Your clear, simple, sincere presentation on the sabbath was very enlightening. Keep sharing God's word humbly, sincerely and passionately.
Read carefully Gal 4:21-5:2 and you will see yourselves in the scripture as the children not of promise and free bout the children of Hagar still in bondage to the law, and “cast out” of the kingdom of God
Thanks

I am so thankful for people like Doug bachelor and other truth preaching teachers. I’ve been struggling a bit of course the devils got me targeted but I know I can stay strong in the good Lord Jesus. It’s just sometimes even after I ask for guidance before reading my Bible it’s still difficult to understand, and as a seventh day Adventist 18 year old girl you can imagine the the struggles I face, wether it be through school, the media, or just my everyday friends. But I overall really enjoyed this debate, and I hope to see more content like this!
The devil targets those he doesn't have so take comfort in that. You are a witness to others in the way you conduct your life so live accordingly and pray for guidance.

I commend the moderators and the whole team for presenting a civil and interesting debate. May God's will be done in our lives for His sake. God bless both presenters.
John 5:18; Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. NO ONE SAY JESUS DID BROKE THE 10 COMMANDMENTS, HE JUST BROKE ONLY ONE, THE SABBATH
Ramil Sarmiento Jesus did not break the commandments, people misinterpret the sabbaths. The sabbaths are feast and rest.Through Jesus Christ He did all of this for us, the feast, that was the blood He shed on the cross for the sins of the people, and sabbath rest, that was in the tomb on the sabbath day He rested after the works that He has done.Jesus last word at the cross “It is finished”. Jesus did not stay at tomb but He was resurrected.
Eph 2 how about you, do you think Jesus broke the 10 commandments, the Bible said He work on the sabbath, while the 4th commandments said,”you shall not do any work”. And why Israelites wants to kill Jesus?
We’ll continue to pray for brother Steve that the Lord will show him the truth about his sabbath, thank you for both Pr Doug and Pr Steve for your time. 🙏🏽🙏🏽
It was a blessing watching this. I pray as we are tested in these last days that we will choose to obey God's Word and keep ALL His Commandments because of our love for Him. 1. What do you have to lose if you are convicted and you keep the Sabbath and then found out when Jesus returns that it was done away with? 2. BUT what do you have to lose when convicted to but willfully refuse to keep the Sabbath and when Jesus returns you found out it was NOT done away with? Study and pray sincerely from your heart and God will reveal His truth unto you. God bless and I pray because of our love for Jesus that we will all be obedient to His Commandments and His grace and Mercy towards us will save us into the Kingdom of God.
ONE. 'The commandments of God' or as you said "His Commandments" (Because you do not keep ALL His Commandments ..there are 613 of them). are the commands of our God Jesus spoken with his (God's) own mouth on the Mount of Blessings, not the 613 commandments contained the Law of Moses, whose only function was to drive us to see our need for the "God with us" = Emanuel = Jesus Christ the Only Righteous Person who ever lived! PHRASE: "the commandments of God" These are the commandments of Jesus as quoted throughout the New Testament. These are NOT the Ten Commandments. The context makes this inescapably clear, and there is no "text" without "context." PHRASE: "they that do His commandments." This, again according to the context, refers to those who have the Holy Spirit within them and who are following Christ's commandments. But nowhere in the New Testament does Christ include the Fourth Commandment of the Decalogue. And so Christ did not command us to keep the Sabbath. Do you really know what John is talking about in Revelation? Let's look a little closer. Turn to 1 John 3:22-24. This is John's terminology he uses in Rev. 12:17, And here is the Commands of Rev 12:17, John 14:15, "that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another" 1 John 3:24 Are you really doing His Commandments? Do you believe on the name of His Son, Jesus Christ? Do you love us Non Sabbath day observing Christians? May I encourage you to also read John 15:10,12,17! John using the terminology "commandments of God" as seen in Rev 12:17 and 14:10, these passages do not refer to the Ten Commandments. If John was referring to the Ten Commandments he would have used the word "law" or (NOMOS). But for those who do not accept Jesus Christ's perfect RESTATEMENT of an earlier imperfect statement of God's law, yes, you indeed are still under the Law of Moses and you are not under grace. Not under the Law of Moses, but under grace,

Interesting. The law says: Deu 8: 2 And *thou shalt REMEMBER ALL the way(s) which* Jehovah thy God hath led thee *these forty *(40)* years in the wilderness,* that he might humble thee, to PROVE thee, to know what was in thy heart, whether thou wouldest *keep HIS COMMANDMENTS* , or NOT" *ALL THE WAYS,* During the 40 years! Not the 10 commandments alone. That means ALL OF THEM, not just the 10 commandments, it includes all the Sabbaths of Lev. 23 that Israel was both taught and commanded to keep *those 40 years* ! Don't try to limit them to the 10 commandments, because there is simply no truthful way to come remotely close to doing that. Let's see, if the Adventist's will have the *"Character of God"* to be honest!
@PastorBatchelor, after 5 years im still grateful to have come across this wonderful video. "Remember the sabbath to keep it holy". The only commandment that starts with "remember". Can't imagine why. The sabbath starts at sundown Friday and ends at sundown Saturday. "Sun"day is not the Sabbath despite what Catholics or so-called Christians say to the contrary. There is no "debate".
Denise Anita Brown You are exactly right / dear sister in CHRIST. We certainly are commanded to REMEMBER to keep the seventh day sabbath. GOD says: if you love me, keep my commandments. This is in the New Testament. 😇😇😇

If you take away one of the laws, you have no reason to condemn the LGBTQ people because "forever" no longer means exactly that. The apostles kept the sabbath and there was no revision of it. Paul whittled down the standard just to win the gentiles and the Roman catholic church made it a standard. Preach Jesus, who himself led by example by keeping the sabbath. Xtians are just too confused, yet everyone claims to be led by the same spirit. That's obviously a big lie, hence the plethora of denominations! I'm glad I left.

Before the Mosaic law, God gave man a conscience...Cain knew it was wrong because of his conscience...Clarence Larkin books are very good for teaching how God deals with man throughout history. Its known as dispensationalism, it is how you rightly divide the word of truth as Paul instructed Timothy in ll Tim 2:15. One VERY obvious division would be the Old Test. vs New Test... its a good study and well worth your time to keep your doctrine sound...
Cain actually told God there was no law given to make him his brother's keeper. That was one of the first things God dealt with after the flood and the precursor of all laws and decrees and regulations and standards and statutes, till the Law of Moses and the rest of the ceremonial laws, so that no man may be justified before God, and that all may be quiet when God judges. He will be justified when He metes out judgment. That's why He sent His Son to take our judgment and justify us, if we believe in Him and His sacrificial death burial and resurrection from the dead, for our sake.
@stevie j foster this means that people still died before the law because of the curse of death on Adam and Eve, that points out their sin was alive as a result of the fall, and it will only end at death- a death equal to the curse- death on a tree, which is a cursed death for it to be accepted by God. Deuteronomy 21:23; Galatians3:13. All died, even if they hadn't committed the sins the law was against. They still died. But when grace and truth came through Jesus Christ, life, even eternal life came with Him for all who would simply, believe in Him dor there's no respecter of persons with Him,, and He became the propitiation for their sins. But if anyone wants to establish their own ability to pay for their sins and still satisfy the demands of God by living a life that is in bondage to observing the law- because they must live in it till the end, no way out; they will always come short, and they will die as well in the end, even if the sins they committed wasn't in or against the law, the law still demands the shedding of blood, for without the sheddingof blood, there's no propitiation for sin, leviticus 17:11; Hebrews 9:19-28. The curse of death lasts dor God's one day, which is 1000 years (Methuselah+ Jesus Christ, 969+30 years, and will be completed in the millennium, then God will be completely satisfied and everything will start again from where they fell, and continue to judgment and rewards day). So all those who go about to measure themselves by the fact that they were able to live by keeping all God's law are rejecting and trampling upon the very blood that saved them. They are having one leg in the law, and another in grace. That's erroneous, and they're gravely mistaken. Grace and law are 2 parallel lines, they can never meet, except on the cross, then each still goes on its own way. Hebrews 10:29. Now is the time to rethink things they have believed for so long, and it's not going to be easy to acknowledge that they have always been wrong, and they have to lose followership and credibility all over the world, as everything they've believed thus far will be subject to scrutiny, and those that have been lording it over the lesser law abiding followers, will become just ordinary human beings, and no longer great teachers of the law! But is it worth it to gain the whole world and lose their souls for all eternity? Is it not easier to accept another's gift that saves them from eternal punishment, and suffer a while? What can they prove to God by beating on their chest, their ability to observe and obey His laws, when He has made it clear that none can be righteous in His sight and makes all their righteousness as filthy rags and then makes a way through His Son, for them to follow and attain the righteousness by Grace through faith? Most importantly, God never gave any one else, excepting the children of Israel the law, Ephesians 2:12 says they were without God! So, are we children of Israel? Were we included in the 12 tribes? Romans 9-4-5, 2:14, 3:19; James 2:10. Even if we are among the 12 tribes, God already concluded ALL UNDER SIN Galatians 3:22, Romans chapters 2 to 4, Galatians chapters 3-5; 2 Corinthians 2 etc. Lamentations 2:9 speaks of the decommission of the law and the vision of the prophets, thus making way for the Son to come in. And He already did and finished all on the cross John 19:30!

I am so glad i watched this debate. I have been a Sabbath keeper for almost 44 years now. And I am just so amazed how calm a person talks when God’s truth and spirit are with him. Salute Pastor Doug Batchelor.
I can understand u want to agree with Doug Bachelor, he's a good and charming speaker. But sorry, pastor Steve Gregg is simply right here. Although i like his approach, i would add some things to clearify some confusion. The question 'sabbath or sunday' is really a false dichotomy. Christians aren't under the law with it's types, shadows and customs. The sabbath day is part of this. Anyone who is familiar with the early church and the churchfathers knows we are to live trough the Holy Spirit, who will confirm the MORAL law. This law is everlasting because it reflects God's holy character. Also 'law keepers' should be consistent, because the law includes more then just the famous 10 commandments, it is the Torah; all 5 books of Moses. The work of Christ trough the Spirit fulfills the requirements of the whole law. (Rom. 8:4) The first day of the week became special for the early church as this is the day Christ fulfilled being the firstfruit at the resurrection. This is preshadowed in the law as the priest's barley sheaf offering (omer), offered every 1st day of the week after the week of passover/Pesach. This is also when the omer count (50 days) begins till when the harvest was being brought in at pentecost/Shavuot; the birth(day) of the NT church! again, 1st day of week. This makes sunday a day of spiritual renewal and significance, but don't mistake it to be a sabbath. Only trough faith in the Saviour-King we enter a true Godly rest, that wil be completed in the everlasting Kingdom. (Hebr. 4). People forget Jesus was born as a Jew under the law (including circumcision), and He was the only one that fulfilled the requirements perfectly, doing away the handwriting of ordinances that testyfied against us sinners by giving His life on our behalf. The new covenant is based on Christ's accomplished work, therefore the law for a Christian is spiritual (Rom. 7: 14). Sabbath day keeping is a modern phenomenon, wich primarily comes from the 19th century adventist movement. (From where also most famous bible-cults came) Don't be decieved! Keeping certain mosaic laws can give u a false feeling of being righteous before God, while u are really trusting in your own obedience and this way building on sand in stead of on the Rock!
@@ml5554 Sorry to say but Steve Gregg and all christians who disagree with the Sabbath aren't really christians because scripture states in Proverbs 3:5 Lean not to your own understanding but trust in God with all your heart. @@billhildebrand5053 Hello, thank you for your sincere openness. My friend, no one can keep every single commandments fully. After all, because of the sin committed in the garden of Eden, that sin was past down to the rest of mankind. We have no choice in that, it is our nature. That what Jesus death was for. He was killed as the payment of our sin. What we need to do is what l like to call C.A.T. CONFESS your Sin to God! ACCEPT the gift of Jesus death for our sin! THANK God for that gift. Do that every day with an open and sincere heart. Start that relationship with God. As for the other things you listed, that is between you and God. I can not judge you for that. Take it up with him daily, open you heart and let the Holy Spirit guide you as you grow your daily relationship with God. As you do that you will grown in your strength. That is the best l can say about that. As for Ellen White, no SDA l know think her as a God. She was only a human being who was given devine knowledge to share with anyone with an open heart. The writers of the Gospels are really no different than Ellen White as they were also given the devine knowledge as well. They are human and we should not treat them as God. If you have questions of what Ellen White has to say, then please go to the Bible and check to see what the Bible says about that which you have questions and then pray about it to God for the truth of it. Stay Well, and May God Bless You.

A gentleman's' debate on a very important topic. Well moderated and well researched by both men. Steve's arguments would likely convince many Sunday keepers to keep ignoring the 10 commandments but would likely fail to move any 7th day sabbath observers. Doug's arguments would likely cement 7th day sabbath observers faith in their belief but could well convince Sunday keepers to at least consider the possibility that the entire 10 Commandments are important. Steve refused to give Sunday any significance and resorted to making every day a day of worship whereas Doug elevated the importance of the 7th day and totally rejected any significance to Sunday.
The explaination of Pastor Bachelor is very clear to me. Yes! Why do we have to omit the 10 commandments esp the Sabbath when it woulf give only blessings and for the benefit of humanity.
People who made the vow committing themselves, are required to omit sin from their walk, to continue is sin and think everything will be ok, is foolish and disappointment will shortly set in when the rewards are given out, all liars still go to the lake of fire

Good points,,,,,,thank you , Doug, l totally agree with every thing you said, I really enjoyed this debate,,,,,,,,l will remember the Sabbath, and keep it
Which of the following should Christians keep today? What Scripture tells which should be observed today, but not others? Which are "ceremonial" (law of Moses) and which are "moral" (law of God)? * Levitical priesthood * Animal sacrifices * Burning incense * Feast days * New moons * Tithing * Abstaining from (unclean) meat * Instrumental music in worship * Dancing in worship * 7th-day Sabbath All were in the old law, but most are not in the 10 Commands. Yet various Sabbath keepers observe several of them. Why not all of them? What evidence proves which should be kept but not others? Many Old Testament commands of God are not in effect today. Some people try to use passages such as the following to claim we must obey all commands God has given: Psalms 111:7,8; 89:34; Hebrews 13:8; Malachi 3:6; James 1:17; 1 Chronicles 16:15. But note some things God commanded or declared "holy," yet are not required of us today: * Build an ark (Gen. 6:18,22; 7:5; 9:11-17) - A covenant (6:18) involving commands (6:22; 7:5) but not now in effect (9:11-17). * Sacrifice a son (Gen. 22:1-19) - A command (22:2) tied to a covenant (22:16-19). Must we obey it? * Circumcision (Gen. 17:9-14; Lev. 12:3; cf. 1 Cor. 7:18-20; Gal. 5:1-8; 6:12-16; Acts 15:1-29) - A command (21:4) and a covenant (vv 2-14) before and during Mosaic law (cf. Lev. 12:3), but not binding today (1 Cor. 7:18-20; Gal. 5:1-8; 6:12-16; Acts 15:1-29). * Levitical priesthood (Ex. 40:12-16; 29:1-9; Num. 3:10; 18:1-7; 16:40; cf. Heb. 7:11-18; cf. 1 Pet. 2:5,9) - A command (Ex. 40:12-16) under the covenant at Sinai (Ex. 29:1-9). Only Aaron and his descendants could be priests (Num. 3:10; 18:1-7; 16:40). Now Jesus is High Priest, not a descendant of Aaron but of a different order; so the law changed (Heb. 7:11-18; cf. 1 Pet. 2:5,9). * Animal sacrifices (Lev. 7:36-38; Gen. 4:1-5; Num. 15:1-6; Lev. chap. 1-7; cf. Heb. 10:1-18). - A command (Lev. 7:36-38) before and during the Mosaic covenant (Gen. 4:1-5; Num. 15:1-6; Lev. chap. 1-7). But they ceased (Heb. 10:1-18). * Holy days (Ex. 12:14-18,24,28; 13:10; Lev. 23:2,4,7,8,21,24f,27-32,34-39; cf. Col. 2:14-17; Gal. 4:10,11). - Commanded (Ex. 12:14-18,24,28; 13:10) during (and from before) Mosaic covenant (Lev. chap. 23), to be kept holy including holy days of rest (Ex. 12:16; Lev. 23:2,4,7,8,21,24f,27-32,34-39), but not binding today (Col. 2:14-17; Gal. 4:10,11). God (not man) changed these commands, including holy days of rest. When people cite passages saying we or others should keep God's commands, we ask: "Should they keep all the above commands?" Do modern Sabbath keepers observe them all? Did Old Testament characters keep the commands to be baptized, keep the Lord's Supper? Man-made covenants as an illustration Galatians 3:15 uses human covenants (contracts, agreements) to illustrate the principle of covenants made between men and God. Hebrews 9:17 does likewise with man-made wills or testaments. This illustration becomes helpful in understanding our relationship to the covenant God made with Israel through Moses, including the Ten Commands and the Sabbath. In every day life everyone understands the concept of contracts/covenants. We have contracts with various people to purchase products (house, car, computer software) and services (telephone, electricity, Internet), etc. A covenant includes conditions, terms, or requirements to be fulfilled by the parties who participate in it. In particular: * Each contract is binding only on the parties named as participating in it. Other people may have similar contracts, but no one is bound by anyone else's contract. No one may attempt to bind on you the terms of a contract if you were not a party to that contract. * Each contract is binding only as long as the terms of the contract remain in effect. The contract may stipulate that it will expire at a certain time or under certain conditions (lease a car for 5 years, a testament is no longer binding if the maker issues a subsequent will, etc.). When the terms of a contract have been fulfilled, the contract expires and is no longer binding on anyone, not even the people who were originally bound by it. * A new contract/covenant or testament may replace or succeed a previous covenant/testament. If so, the parties involved are bound by the terms of the new contract, not by the terms of the old one. For example, if a man makes a new will, it replaces the previous will entirely. The new contract may have some conditions that are similar or even identical to terms in the previous contract, and it may have some terms that differ. Nevertheless, no terms of the previous contract as such are still binding on the parties- not even if the terms existed in several previous contracts. The only binding terms are those that exist in the current contract. Earlier in this introduction we listed some laws or covenants that are not binding on us today. The principles we have just discussed explain why these are not binding. We intend to show that the covenant God made with Israel through Moses is not binding on anyone today just like all these previously discussed laws and covenants are no longer binding. This will apply to all the laws and terms of that covenant, including the Ten Commands and the Sabbath. We now live under an entirely different covenant that replaced the one made through Moses. None of the laws revealed through Moses - nor any laws revealed before Moses - apply today. All such laws, terms, and conditions have been replaced by the gospel of Jesus Christ. As in the illustration, the gospel may include laws that are similar or even identical to some that went before, but none of those laws are in effect because they were included in any previous covenant. The only laws or conditions that are required of us today are the ones that are included in the New Testament.
@@tdickensheets very interesting how humans neglected the word of God( the Bible) and not recognise who is really speaking to us through this book? We don't even consider and even ask ourselves who's words (voice) is this?? Are they're human words?? can we as human being add or Minus to it?? Because this words said ( God charge not)He same yesterday today and forever. What does that mean?Now are days the word of God is no longer treated as the (TRUTH) man can do whatever suits their desires and wishes not realise the book itself is full of HIS COMMAND and it's all about him and him alone. These words was given to us for our good our roll is to accept it and obedient to it, but sadly many Christians pick and choose whatever suits their lives. In his words He never ever mention for you to pick what you want!! The only Christians I know accept the whole TRUTH is the SDAYEVENTH ADVENTIST. Thanks

Do you know the man who has the fruits of the spirit? It's an aside, but if you are determining that conclusion solely from an interaction presented on You Tube, you are not exercising discernment. I've seen a mass of people who followed a man who appeared humble, intelligent, articulate - a "man of God" so called. You could not fault his teaching, but a short time revealed he did not possess the fruits of the Spirit, but rather a gift (teaching) only. The deception led to much heartache and trouble. Not saying this will be the case for you, but I am saying you need to know the person's life, to determine their fruits. Just saying.

To be in Christ in to be in the Sabbath of the Lord, to enter into his rest, Sabbath forever 24/7 not just one day a week. See Hebrews 4:9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.
Matthew 4:4 We are to live by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God . The Sabbath commandment come from the Word of God and God commanded us to keep it . It's a simple gospel that only humans make it so complicated . We claim we love God but we pick and choose what suits us and what's not ? Let's be honest , do we really love God and yet not willing to obey?
@Honey Bee Jesus did good on the Sabbath. "It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath, to save life and to heal." We are to model our lives on the life of Jesus. "As His custom was, He went into the sanctuary on the Sabbath."
@@judymacdonnell1524 And Christ replied "Why do you call me good for no man is good but God". Only Jesus was able to claim to do good on the Sabbath because he alone is God. The good nature of God became flesh. Christ wasn't stating a question because he didn't know the answer. He simply didn't deny being called good master because he is saying to those with spiritual ears, yet vailed to the Pharisees that he was God, he was good and he was the fulfillment of the law in the flesh as the ONLY Perfect/Good Sacrifice. To use your words, yes Christ did save life and heal on the sabbath when he paid the price for sins once and for all for all men. And only he can lay claim to doing good on the Sabbath. The rest of us strive for that mark in a natural truth and will positively "all fall short" trying to do good. And when we are weak he is strong but if any of us think to be strong then we have failed to understand the message that the meek shall inherit the earth. And though it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath, only God could fulfill that.

A great debate! It did open my mind to a new understanding of the Sabbath. God said "Remember the Sabbath..." because He knew we would forget. If the Sabbath is important to Him then it should be important to us.
It actually didn't it only let you find more justification to follw it without examining the other side.
Amen!

Forgiveness: The New Covenant promises to forgive the sins of those who trust in God.

I had no church or knew where to go, I was nervous due to how many churches was around and I wanted the truth and only the truth. I prayed to God, and the Holy Spirit helped me into finding a Seventh Day Adventist church. Which I never heard nor knew what it stood for.

@@christophercoupe5006 The Sabbath was "blessed" and "sanctified" on the 7th day when God rested after creation. Gen 2:3 Adam and Eve were NOT Jews or Israelites. Also, nowhere in the bible does it say that the sabbath was changed from the seventh day of the week to the first day of the week. It says so in the catholic catechism. The catholic church fulfilled the prophecy in Daniel 7:25. Now does any mortal person in the world have authority to change God's laws? Certainly NOT.
@@danadanai3167 True, Adam & Eve were not Israelites but the bible doesn't say God commanded them to keep it! If it was so important to God then Moses would've mentioned people keeping it from Adam onward.
The Holy Spirit was given to the Desciples as they met for Pentecost (Acts 2) which is a Sunday! Just as God intended from the time of Moses. If as you claim the sabbath was important to God He would've sent the H.S. on the sabbath. Don't you think it odd that after Jesus' ascention to Heaven the Apostles never command the churches to keep the sabbath?
Jesus confronted and taught Paul the Apostle after He ascended to heaven - Acts 9, Galatians 1:11-12 . So according to you all of Paul's letters to the churches should be ignored? BTW Paul never teaches the Gentile churches anything about the sabbath!
Who cares what the catholic cult says! Stick to what God says in the bible. The law of Moses was only meant to be kept until John the Baptist & Jesus time - Matthew 11:13!! God changed the laws of Moses, people didn't!!!
People like you are stuck in the old testament with Moses! You obviously don't accept the new testament and God's new teachings in it!! So sad.
I was an Anglican by birth. I never knew that the 7th day of the week is Saturday. That fact stood out more clearly when you go back to the account on the crucifixion weekend. I was so amazed thinking, "so I have been keeping a wrong day holy." Today I am not brain washed into becoming an Adventist, but I am convinced by the Holy Spirit thru the study of the bible that Sabbath is Saturday and not Sunday. And it still stands as God's holy day.
It’s not lol
Man named the actual days of the week!
Amen Pastor Doug! I've questioned this since my personal studies began not long ago. I felt in my heart the Sabbath should be kept. Thank you both for your interpretations! 🙏
@Mike Flanagan
I don't want to argue with you, but would like to clarify some things.
Where do you feel in the letters to the church that the sabbath is required? Batchelor is a wolf in sheeps clothing!!! He doesn't care about you!!! He just wants people to listen to him so he can boost his ego and to give him $ so he doesn't have to work!!! He is a liar like his father the devil!!!!!

Thanks

Read carefully Gal 4:21-5:2 and you will see yourselves in the scripture as the children not of promise and free bout the children of Hagar still in bondage to the law, and “cast out” of the kingdom of God
If they speak not according to the law and the testimony there's no light in them....scripture.. sin is the transgression of the law

2 Corinthians 3:4-28
Hebrews 7:11-19

Doug... you blow me away on how you present the bible with such reason and sensibility! Absolutely well done! 👍

Pastor, there is no problem worship on seventh day.but the problem is that you make it a test.

I commend the moderators and the whole team for presenting a civil and interesting debate. May God's will be done in our lives for His sake. God bless both presenters.
To say Jesus broke the 10 commandments is blasphemous. "He was without sin" "what is sin? Sin is the transgression of the law".
Don B thats right THAT IS RIIIIIIIIGHTTTTT
John 5:18; Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
NO ONE SAY JESUS DID BROKE THE 10 COMMANDMENTS, HE JUST BROKE ONLY ONE, THE SABBATH
If the Bible says something that ain't popular, it's called legalism
We’ll continue to pray for brother Steve that the Lord will show him the truth about his sabbath, thank you for both Pr Doug and Pr Steve for your time.

thank you pastor for standing with the truth and informing us .I am from Nairobi kenya
The context makes this inescapably clear, and there is no "text" without "context."
PHRASE: "they that do His commandments." This, again according to the context, refers to those who have the Holy Spirit within them and who are following Christ's commandments.
And here is the Commands of Rev 12:17, John 14:15,
"that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another" 1 John 3:24
Are you really doing His Commandments?
Not under the Law of Moses, but under grace,
Amen! Exactly you dont loose nothing when you keep the Sabbath

"I have not come to do away with the law, yet fulfill it."

God bless you Pastor Dough,
Pastor Dough? I just hope it´s unleavened...
If the ten Commandments wasn't from creation, how did Cain know he sin when he committed murder.
Because of what his mother did!
Good point 👍

(Rom. 8:4)
The first day of the week became special for the early church as this is the day Christ fulfilled being the firstfruit at the resurrection.
(From where also most famous bible-cults came)
Don't be decieved!
Anyone who gives reason why not to keep a certain command of God is molding God to their own convenience and that's called idolatry because he tells you in your scripture your ideology of him doesn't count.
@@juanc.feliciano9507 Butchering scripture and choosing how to serve God is idolatry because you cant mold God to how you want to serve thats why it's clear Steve never had a chance. Proverbs 3:5 Lean not to your own understanding but trust in God with all your heart.

@@pearlearlskye9923 you are right..there is no place in this earth or any human being live, with out the law..even the cannibals or people who arent educated has laws or rules to follow, if they don't follow they will die or killed..same as the 10 commandments these laws are for man to follow.laws that God given to us..with out these laws there would be chaos in these world. And that's why we have wars and some problems because there are some who never follow the law..if all peoples follow the law of God for sure we would have peace on earth..
Jesus = Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Luke 9:23
And he said unto all, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross DAILY, and follow me.
Matthew 11:28-29
Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you REST. (29) Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find REST unto your souls.
REST = SABBATH
JESUS = SABBATH
JESUS IS OUR SABBATH
Matthew 26:55 In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come out as against a thief with swords and staves for to take me? I sat DAILY with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.
Sunday SCRIPTURES teach us to work gather food to give to poor, yet they gathered daily excited to have new family, they lived for one another. Like if you had to live at my camp a year, every time you put wood on the fire you do it for everyone at camp, when 5 of us go fishing, regardless of who catches the fush we are all still gonna eat. The real church runs just like that A LIVING SACRIFICE EVERYONE FOR THE WHOLE BODY.
Again when you put food into your mouth which is the door to the body does it not go to all the body? Yea so it is in the church blessings of peace 🌹

The Debate on The Sabbath is truly a topic that has been highly debated across the world. I truly admire the way Pastor Doug and Mr Steve conducted their debate tonight. I truly salute both men on their views tonight on the topic, and they both a truly God fearing warriors. Both of them where just too good.
Good points,,,,,,thank you , Doug, l totally agree with every thing you said,
I really enjoyed this debate,,,,,,,,l will remember the Sabbath, and keep it
Which of the following should Christians keep today?
What Scripture tells which should be observed today, but not others? Which are "ceremonial" (law of Moses) and which are "moral" (law of God)?
* Levitical priesthood
* Animal sacrifices
* Burning incense
* Feast days
* New moons
* Tithing
* Abstaining from (unclean) meat
* Instrumental music in worship
* Dancing in worship
* 7th-day Sabbath
All were in the old law, but most are not in the 10 Commands.
But note some things God commanded or declared "holy," yet are not required of us today:
* Build an ark (Gen. 6:18,22; 7:5; 9:11-17) - A covenant (6:18) involving commands (6:22; 7:5) but not now in effect (9:11-17).
* Sacrifice a son (Gen. 22:1-19) - A command (22:2) tied to a covenant (22:16-19). Must we obey it?
* Circumcision (Gen. 17:9-14; Lev. 12:3; cf. 1 Cor. 7:18-20; Gal. 5:1-8; 6:12-16; Acts 15:1-29) - A command (21:4) and a covenant (vv 2-14) before and during Mosaic law (cf. Lev. 12:3), but not binding today (1 Cor. 7:18-20; Gal. 5:1-8; 6:12-16; Acts 15:1-29).
Man-made covenants as an illustration
Galatians 3:15 uses human covenants (contracts, agreements) to illustrate the principle of covenants made between men and God.
In particular:
* Each contract is binding only on the parties named as participating in it.
Amen!
@@tdickensheets so what are those laws???. Is that the ones Jesus said If you love me keep my commandments???
@@tdickensheets amen do not be again entangled
Thanks so much, you cleared this up for me.... I now covenant to keep the Sabbath and not overdo it. But I have a problem with the other 9 commandments. I cannot keep them.

The 7th day Saturday or the 1st day of the week, Monday!!!!
To be in Christ in to be in the Sabbath of the Lord, to enter into his rest, Sabbath forever 24/7 not just one day a week.
See Hebrews 4:9
There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his.
Plus it is not a burden! The Sabbath is a GIFT. I love it. Why should I give it up? It makes no sense.

John 14:15 KJV Not by law but in love,we will keep his commandments.
@@edaguirre8952 but Christ Jesus fullfilled the law .. now that righteousness is not by the law but only found in Christ Jesus 🙏 .. even if the Jews in the past lived by the law they couldn't live by the law they were found unrighteous .. that's why Christ Jesus came and shed his blood .. Christ is the end of the law for righteousness .. the apostle Paul had problems with the Jews of his day .. because some Jews were saying these gentiles must observe the law of Moses and have faith in Christ Jesus ..but Paul believed by the spirit of God .. for by grace are ye saved through faith that it is not of yourselves ( or any works that U do ?) It is the gift of God ..
For U can't add to what Christ Jesus done on the cross by observing a Sabbath 🙏 what U or anyone does is outside of salvation .. 🧡♥️🙄👍
Ed Aguirre 👎👎👎😂😂😂😂😂😂

To love Sunday keepers....what’s the great commandment?
Jesus gave him a clear answer: the greatest among many things that man could do is to love. To love God wholly and totally (with one's heart soul, and mind) and to love one's neighbor are the greatest commandments of all. ... Because God is love and that is why we are able to love.Oct 29, 2017
Thanks
