The opening riff is just out of this universe
It's the best!!!.
My favorite riff to playing on guitar. With the riff from "Cemetery Gates". Awesome.
Phil wrote it, but said it sounded so much better when Dime played it. Phil lended his guitar writing skills to a few bangers Pantera knocked out.
Phil (the vocalist) wrote the intro and main riff. Fun bit of trivia there.
I think one of the best comments I ever seen was some dude saying "Phil speaks in Drop C tuning" Lmao
You get tone like that by being Darrell Abbott. Gotta have his hands. No one's been able to duplicate it yet. You need to listen to more Pantera if those vocals aren't to your liking. Phil's a versatile fellow. He's not always screaming.
It's been duplicated on UA-cam by multiple different people
@@isopropyltoxicity Often imitated, never duplicated. You can always tell when it's a cover.
@@isopropyltoxicity and they are not Pantera
Dimebag and Jerry Cantrell had the best tones of anyone in the 90s, straight god tier
@@isopropyltoxicity I can play this song from first to last note. Riffs and solo. Did it thousands times. But it's still a shadow of the level that Dime had.
I am 45 years old. This is still (to ME) the heaviest song that I have ever heard. I remember listening to this and my jaw was dropped for 4 minutes lol. Obviously there might be heavier songs, but this was king for me.
It's hard to imagine anything hitting so hard as this did in '92. It was really different and brutal.
check out suffocations 1991 album effigy of the forgotten
I will.@@curdledmayonnaise
Vulgar DIsplay of Power is the crunchiest album ever realeased
@Curdledmayonnaise bro no one, relatively speaking, heard effigy when it first released lol. Pantera was topping the billboards, thats part of what made it so eye opening for most people
Seeing Pantera live was a face melting experience, 👊🏽
Every tour was epic
Saw them once in the 90's in NYC and I gotta say, it was the friendliest pit ever. I tripped over someone's feet and everyone around me stopped and picked me up. At one point, the pit carried me over to Dimebag's side and it was so loud I had to make my way back to the center....LOL. RIP Vince and Dimebag.
I got to see them recently when they were touring with Metallica 2 months ago. For some reason, I did not know how was the other two bands joining them until I looked at my ticket lmao I already knew that Pantera was about be the most face melting concert I’ve been to. Mosh pit did not disa-fucking-ppoint 🔥
Heard this song from the first time at a record store in '92 when it first came out, been a Pantera superfan ever since.🤘🏾
There is no greater LIVE Heavy Metal Band.
Pantera Live Shows back in the 90's were amazing. FIRE. Legendary.
One who knows from experience,
Pantera Pits were IN
SANE.
Saw them seven times back in the day, they were the best
My favorite band, my favorite song. The energy of this song blows my head off.
So Great!!!!!!!!!
Thats EXACTLY what it was like at a Pantera concert in the early-mid 90’s. From missing rows of seats in concert halls to the open death floors with joints passing everywhere of arenas. Best concerts ever!
this love
The greatest metal band of all time. I was lucky to see the 4 times, 4 Different Albums. They sounded
Ike this live. None of the other great metal band could ever sound like them. The best ever, period.
In regards to Dime's legendary tone - he once gave a list a list of all the pedals he used, but refused to list what order he had them in. His thought was a players tone was way more important than a players skill, and that the "sound" overcame all, and everyone owes it to themselves to find that out for themselves. A power chord is the same no matter who plays it, but finding what sounds right to you - that opens a whole new world. One of the biggest things I loved about the man. RIP Dime, a true god among men!!!
All adopting the standard sides of mouth downward turn when listening to a pantera song
I discovered Pantera in 1992 listening to this album, it blew my mind. I lived in Argentina by then and Argentina was their favorite place to play because of the crowd and the passion , people loved pantera in Argentina and pantera loved Argentina
I saw Pantera in 1996 (touring with White Zombie!!) and it was great. The pit was enormous and looked like a crop circle being formed.
Right on, I saw that tour too, in Jacksonville Florida 🤙
fun fact phil created that main riff
Just now got to watch the reaction. I love how you gave them their shout out, especially Darrell. I grew up in the DFW and they will always be the pride of the Texas metal scene. I remember seeing them play at a metal bar in Dallas called The Basement and other clubs in the early days, barely old enough to get in. Hung out with them a few times on the local scene, and they were just the coolest dudes ever. Saw them live at Ozzfest and other shows in later years as well. Definitely gone WAY too soon. 🤘 R.I.P Dimebag Darrell Abbott🎸and Vinnie Paul Abbott 🥁 🤘
Joe’s Garage!!!
My first Pantera cd and still my favorite
Great reaction. You guys are cracking me up! A little surprised you guys didn’t comment on the drums. Check out “regular people” Off that same album. Serious banger that’s been slept on.
My fav Pantera song hands down!
Childhood memories, love pantera👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I was privileged to see pantera twice, in a small venue, newport centre in the 90s, they were fuckin INCREDIBLE🤘🤘🤘
Without doubt the most kickass Pantera tune ever. 👊👊
Wherever be someone talking about PAnterA, I'll be there too. Thanks guys for this reaction! So glad to see that someone else recognize the power and energy of the greatest metal band. \m/ \m/
Getcha pull! RIP Abbott brothers.
Please for the love of Pantera watch the video from 2019 at the Colorado springs world arena when they played with Slayer ministry and Primus. I've seen every Pantera show to come to my town from 1990 to 2019 even with two band members Rex and Phil still killed it. Look close at the videos from that night and you'll see a little girl in a pink shirt ( can't miss it) on some crazy dude shoulders moshing around the front row . That's me and my 8 year old daughter. Both hardcore Pantera fans. Thank you for doing a reaction to them. Try the Great Southern trendkill next.
Dime was next level ❤
Cool song!
Legends! 💯
This song sets the tone for the entire album.
Seriously, give the entire album a listen. It never gives you a chance to catch your breath.
Last track Hollow is the “catch your breath” track
Can't wait for this one. Reminder set. MY EARS CAN'T HEAR WHAT YOU SAY TO MAAAEEEEE!! 🤘
To get dimes tone you need have Marshal Heads, mesa boogie cabinets, Dean guitar, distortion all the way up and the Wah Wah pedal turned on always
Guys, great reaction! If you're in the mood for another badass Pantera song, you must listen to Domination Live in Moscow. Such a badass song and this live performance is CRAZY!
When Eddie Van Halen put his most famous guitar in Dimebags casket, that tells you how good Dime was. The best ever.
That riff is so powerful just pure metal
Ryan's face during Dimebag solo is kinda like me listening at home. lol. Yes, Dimebag is a monster! Legend!
This album is so empowering....can pull you out of the deepest depression.
Finally some Metal
My kitten just took a swipe at me, bared her fangs, and arched her back.
Hell yeah someone from the 502 check out local dudes Artifex Pereo 2 good albums that charted on billboard in 6 categories including top 200. Dimebag and Vinnie Were BEASTS.RIP
Randal aplifiers man !!
I’ll never forget the first time I heard this song at 15yrs old blew my fukn mind
Groove Metal Masters!!!!
Never have I left a show so bloody, black and blue while also being zen a.f.. My neck still hurts a little though.
God the early 90's were awesome.
This is my 2nd favorite on the album. The song Rise is badass.💎🤙
Pantera 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸 nuff said
Recommend. Down: Stone the Crow
This album dropped in 1992 btw not 2003
Dime = GOAT metal guitarist
One of most hardcore metal albums ever made
Aweonaos
Guys check out The Dimebag Clinic. It’ll answer a lot of your questions. No throw away riffs allowed!
God, I'm so old that this should be called 'Kids Reacting'.
You guys gotta do Cemetery Gates for the melodies 🔥🔥🔥
Look! 3 bobble heads...
Y'all have to do the live version of Domination from Moscow '91.....the most epic single performance ever....
You guys should check out Janes Addiction “ Just because,” the tune and the video are totally badass. 👍
Listen to Hollow, off Vulgar Display of Power. You'll see Phils sensitive side. Heavy song. If you have ever had a friend in pain. Caught then in Sydney Australia when they toured here. My ears were jelly for about 4 days.
If the solo is a Pterodactyl then Pantera is the T Rex
The band Machine Head was kind of similar to Pantera, however there's an album type of off-track from their usual sound
First off, it’s pretty hard to get Dime’s tone exact. But normally people say to scoop the mids on EQ for that distinct screeching sharp tone. But tone is also in the player, and nobody will ever be or play like him.
I'm sure you guys have been told this already but you need to react to cemetary gates from the first album. Great vocals
Exodus took Pantera out on the road for the first time. Dimebag was called Diamond back then.
Pantera didn't believe in making bad music you could say that they had one bad song ever and that was good friends and a bottle of pills but that was more of an experiment of a song and then just goofing off and it shows but the Five albums and rebel meets Rebel that they gave us are absolutely five of the greatest heavy metal albums ever made hands down
You guys are too cool ... You've got to react to "Domination" live ... Absolute 🔥
I was the 666th like! This is the best song to work out or smash bricks to! RIP Dime & Vince!
Finally lol
If you want that tone, just find a valvestate amp and cut the mids and pair it with some fat humbuckers.
Nice synchronized head banging guys. If you don’t move like that to this shit, you’re not alive
Yep it literally was like Phil could yell…KILL..and they would all destroy each other! They are so good live and especially back then. In Far Beyond Driven which was next there were several good songs as well. Becoming is one of their best songs on that album. The Great Southern Trendkill was okay to me. I prefer to listen to CFH and VDP and FBD for Pantera!
Dimebag was the GoaT!!!
Favorite album overall. I'm Broken is a masterpiece though.
Guys do FUNERAL HYMN by Exodus for your Metal March Madness
More Mastadon for March Metal Madness please. Maybe one from Emperor of Sand.
