  • The Koches are walleye legends around southern Michigan. This brother/sister team has been boating thousands of walleyes a year for decades and know the SE Michigan walleye grounds like the back of their hands. Follow along as they share some of their info on a fishing trip on the Detroit River.

Check out the Lk St Clair Walleye Assoc. They have a lot of people that could help you out. Richard and Joanne do seminars for the club once in awhile too which would be a great place to start learning the technique.

No, you mostly handling up river or cross current. Once you’re to the top of the run, you can turn downstream and cruise to the bottom and start over. You let the fish tell you how fast upriver. Some days you can really cover water, some days you want it to wiggle in front of them longer so you slow down.
The weights also vary depending on the depth of the water. 1-2lb is pretty common for most areas. If you have about a 45° angle or a little less with the weight on the bottom, that’s about right.

Yeah, they kept enough for a couple meals. When you catch hundreds of walleye a year, it’s easy to keep a few anytime you want.
