Don't believe we have Scheels in NE Ohio. And since Gander Mountain went under, and I'm BOYCOTTING DICKS FOR THEIR ANTI SECOND AMENDMENT STANCE, it's pretty much Wally World or Amazon for me. But they just opened an REI on my side of Cleveland, so I'll check them out. Thanks Chris.
DropForgedSurvival ..... I like this store but I don’t live in that state so I guess I’m outta luck . But it’s close to what I’ve seen at Bass Pro Shops
Helinox (owned by Big Agnes) makes great chairs. Their Helinox Chair Zero is the newer16oz. version of their popular Chair One. The Zero is ONE POUND.... FOR A CHAIR!! Probably still too much weight for the gram counters out there, but even lightweight backpackers can appreciate how light that is. I have one and love it. Brought it on a week long hike to Philmont last year and my old bones appreciated the comfort of a chair in camp at the end of a long day. The Coghlans saw looks just like the Coleman version. It’ll do the trick in a pinch, but you’re better off with a Silky saw. Much better product. I have the Sea To Summit X set (plate/bowl/cup). They’re awesome. Compress down into a fairly small mess kit. Not sure if I’d use the pot though. Great vid Chris. Keep up the good work.
I just love all your videos!! Always great to see you and your family. I have that saw it is much better with dry wood and not so hot with green wood. It got all gummed up really fast. Thanks again for everything you do for us, blessings to you and your family 😇 🇺🇸
I used to do a lot of kendo back in high school and if your kids want to practice with those things I recommend you get them some practice boxing gloves to protect their fingers.
I have used the folding saw, the same one for many years. I have never had issues with the bolt coming loose, the saw not snapping into place, or the blade bending while in use. I do recommend it for a budget pack
The Lifestraw Steel (i havent used it) is only $30 on Amazon. Like the traditional Lifestraw, its good for 1000 liters. But its significantly more sturdy. Also comes with a 100 liter replacable carbon filter to help improve taste, remove some heavy metals, etc.
What an awesome store! I have three Ruko knives. One of the flip open ones, the tonto neck knife, and the other little neck knife. I like them and always have at least one of them on me. They have been out for a few years by us.
Watching your new vid, a highlight for my day, for the second time and notice your 172 away from 100,000. Awesome job man. Also so glad you put that whistle back, they blow baby chunks.
Love Scheels they have a little bit of everything, but they are expensive!! Unless you catch things on sale! Would NOT spend $60.00 for a Life straw! The Fiskers handsaw works great. I am lucky I have REI, Bass Pro, Scheels, and Dicks SG close by, but Sportsmans Warehouse is also close and a little cheaper.
We have scheels up here. I stopped going there because they were overpriced and they definitely didn't have all this stuff. Now I'm gonna have to check them out again.
Love scheels and we make sure to stop at least once during visits to see my brothers . I just have to make sure to not go with a pocket full of cash so I don't walk out broke
I have the smiths pen sharpener. I keep it in my edc organizer with my spare blade, etc. Just in case i mess up the blade on one of my knives i want to be able to put a useable edge back on it. Sure, its “for” serrated blades, but ive used it in a similar fashion to a honing steel usually found in knife blocks to put an edge back on my blade. Its VERY rough, and you probably couldnt slice paper with the edge yout get, but you absolutely could use it to make feather sticks, etc.
Awesome video dude, I love the shopping videos and seeing all the gear, that place is huge, tuns and tuns of stuff, probably my favorite survival shopping video! I am not joking they have everything jeez its freaking awesome!
First of all, Great Job introducing me to Scheels. I never heard of them here in the Southeast USA. I have Bass Pro Shop, REI, Walmart and the other usual outfitters near me. Thanks to you, I'm going to keep my eye on Scheels! I looked them up and my nearest location is in Dallas. I smell a road trip coming! LOL For feedback on some of your questions. Thumbs up on clotting sponges. Aside from our basic boo boo kits, each kit I made has a trauma pack with clotting sponges, Israeli bandage, tourniquets, tampons (to plug puncture wounds), and suture kits and multiple suture packs for those most extreme injuries that can't wait for medical attention. In a SHTF, there might not be anyone on the end of the phone to send help. Both our boo boo and trauma kits pack down to about the same size side by side and weight about the same but cover a broader range of life saving. I have a Coghlans hand saw that I only use for camping and bug out drills. It does do the job but not as well as Silky. Our real bug out kits actually have Silkys. Why? Because if the cheap saw breaks or gets lost in the woods, no big deal, it's cheap and replaceable at Walmart. Plus, in the woods for these drills, I prefer to use less equipment in general and also cheaper gear too for THOSE to be our challenges to build up our skills and tolerance threshold. In a real SHTF scenario, we'll be on our good equipment and so that our gear won't be the challenge and we can concentrate more on our situational awareness in a crisis. Next, when I was married, my ex had her "fancy picnic basket". She bought a $100 folding mess kit for it like the one you was looking at. I thought it was dumb and expensive at the time but after we used it a couple of times, I saw it's place in her fancy picnic basket. She used to EDC her picnic basket in her trunk and whenever we would have road trips or long drives, she'd break it out. Once the plates, cups and what nots were unstacked, it was pretty nice to eat off them. The fact that they cleaned easily and then repacked away into such a small space made them practical in the "picnic scenario". Now it's years later, the kids are grown and I'm not taking picnics, I don't find it practical for me or for my bug out plan to have a $100 mess kit. I'm back to steel canteen cups. LifeStraws, yup, I got em and I use them for the camping and bug out kits. But they are all the basic $20 life straws Rather than investing in the $60 LifeStraw in my real bug out kits, I went with a higher volume gravity filter from Platypus. It's a two bag system that gravity feeds dirty water through a Sawyer Filter into a clean water bag and then from the clean water bag, it's ready to refill canteens or start cooking and cleaning with. It costed me more than $100 each but I feel it's worth it for each bug out kits. Overkill? In SHTF, two is one and one is none. We have backups for our backups. Thanks for sharing Chris! Blessings to you, Outdoor Mama and the Boys!
Quick & 2 the point, good video content & some new items I have not seen also. Way to go family survival / prepared /ready shopping experience. I thought this video was good ! Keep on prepping 😀!
I look upon this with great envy. We have nothing like this in the UK. All we have is a few sad and poorly stocked camping stores here and there. Some stuff is available online but new laws prevent knives being delivered to our homes. You guys are very lucky.
Completely agree. The UK has an alright supply but from what I've experienced, it's mainly for family camping and hiking through the landscapes! Very envious of these stores in the U.S
I have grown up with Scheels........based in Fargo, ND.......nice stores and a little higher priced, but you get to touch, see and feel and can buy right away!
The Sierra saw is actually pretty good for the price. good for occasional use. The lock is wire and may need fine tuning. The blade is Japanese style pull saw. works very well but be carefull not to get wild on the push stroke or you can bend it. I have two of them, one in each vehickle.
That smiths pocket pen style knife sharpener is on point and worth every penny. Ive had mine for 3 years and it will put a super sharp edge on your blade if used properly. Mine also has hook sharpening slots for keeping your fishing hooks needle sharp. People will often overlook the importance of a sharp fishing hook and that could mean the diffrence between a awsome dinner or a empty belly. Its an A plus tool and i even carry mine with my knife and firesteel sheath.
I really miss a store like that here in Brazil, is really "hard" to watch this videos and return to my reality and remember that here we don't have a nice store for camping, edc and survival. The best way is buy on ebay and wait 3 fucking months for the customhouse release the package. Probably, I really need to try to be a cop in US, haha. Nice video, ma friend, thanks for sharing.
I have a Ruko Shark. Its actually a really good knife for the price. It's not going to completely stack up to major brands but it's definitely worth getting
Hey I own that hand saw and have had it for 3 years. I do all kinds of survival lessons and I love it. It works like a 75$ hand saw. Small and light. And because it’s so cheep even if you do abuse it and it breaks. You can just get another. Teeth grab and cut like butter. So yeah that’s my little thought on it lol.
Awesome !!! Never heard of that store before... Looks like I'm finding one for sure 😀 i also have that saw and yeah works well it's more sturdy than it looks and has stayed sharp. Have lots of gear from that brand most of it serves its purpose but i love it just because of its affordability !!!
Scheels headquarters is in my town and I thought the flagship store was well stocked. That Utah store actually seems like it has a better selection. May have something to do with Utah having more hunters that backpack in for week long hunts
Really? Must not be using all to often or when you do it is sparingly throughout the day... But "How I gauge sharpness" Once a Blade cant slice paper clean... I re-sharpen the edge.
Coghlans saw will work for a short while and then its folding mechanism will fail. The metal the saw is made of is solid as it seems. The build and mechanics of the saw are of 3rd world quality and will fail rather quickly. Although if you are proficent at knots you can easily take the saw blade and with some bush craft genius you can attach the blade to a hood piece of hardwood. Make sure to put the slit in a thin piece of round and use proper wrapping skills and a knot that will be solid and secure.
I love scheels we have one here in Reno NV. any time I'm looking for something that's the first place I go, then sportsmans warehouse. cabelas is a last resort
The Sierra saw works really well for small and medium sized dry wood. The latch on the back of the saw is not super sturdy, but adequate for occasional to moderate use. Great blade, very sharp. It's an exceptional value for money. Mines still in use and part of my get home kit.
Stores such as these are ALWAYS more expensive than purchasing on the web. Do your research, check it out at the store for feel & fit, then buy from a reputable on line dealer.
I bought the Lifestraw Steel. I like it because it’s a Lifestraw, but also comes with replaceable activated carbon filter inserts. Chemical filtration is just as important as physical filtration, especially when your water source could possibly be polluted by farming/industrial activity (which is pretty much all groundwater you’re likely to find). Plus, I can’t stand the taste of water purified with chlorine (like most city water supplies). I’m so super sensitive to the taste of chemically purified water, I can’t even stand to drink tap water without filtering it first.
Thanks man , excuse my englis, you have my suscription, and CONGRATULATIONS you have a beautiful family, God bless you . Greetings from Veracruz, MÉXICO
I don’t trust those sea to summit pots. The price is out there. Soon Walmart will have a clone. Personally if I’m going to spend an exorbitant amount of money on cookware it’s probably going to be Trangia duossal... (at least recently)
Nice! You should have checked out the cabellas in lehi Utah. It is huge! Has a restaurant upstairs in it and a massive aquarium. Saw a Thompson machine gun in there last time, it was sweet!
A lot of good equipment but for an EDC or survival blade I wont by mine from a store ( not a department store guy when it comes to knives) want a good knife then my advice is to go online and buy yourself a quality blade .lol. Other than that , its basically about choice, for some department store knives will do the job and some do but for me I like knives from such brands as BarkRiver, ESEE , TOPS , FOBOS , and others. Nice video though, wish they had a scheals around here
Lifestraw: I would not pay more for the aluminum one, if you dent it, it's useless... Not that you read the packaging for the aluminum, but I would stick to the plastic because it can take a beating just a bit more... 🦇
I do have the sea to summit kit. I drive a semi, so I feel like I am constantly camping. I bought it because I bring my girlfriend with me and it is a two or more people kit. I also have the $50 two pot stainless kit. I used ozark pot for $15 but it just doesn't last.
The Sierra saw is not bad. I would get an extra blade with any saw. Put it through a decent test and cut about a dozen logs, the size of thighs, without issue.
DropForgedSurvival before I forget. Not sure what state you are in but if you have a Sierra Trading Post you should check it out. It's the TJ Max version of REI. I get some mountain House packs for $3-5. And those Eno hammocks are like $30.
Wondering why there is a Swiss 🇨🇭 flag on the Swedish 🇸🇪 product..🤣😂🤣😂 great video, greetings from Örnsköldsvik (eagleshildbay) where Fjällräven comes from.. 🇸🇪 . you should come visit their factory store... 😉👍👍✌️
Ah man, this is epic compared to what we have here in the UK. This makes Go Outdoors look like a kindergarten. You can get a lot of stuff on line, but some times it's so much better being able to look and handle something before you buy. Sooooo envious
*How does SCHEELS Stack up for you Compared to Something like Dicks, Cabelas, Bass Pro, Etc*
DropForgedSurvival Cabelas is my all time favorite store
Don't believe we have Scheels in NE Ohio. And since Gander Mountain went under, and I'm BOYCOTTING DICKS FOR THEIR ANTI SECOND AMENDMENT STANCE, it's pretty much Wally World or Amazon for me. But they just opened an REI on my side of Cleveland, so I'll check them out. Thanks Chris.
DropForgedSurvival ..... I like this store but I don’t live in that state so I guess I’m outta luck . But it’s close to what I’ve seen at Bass Pro Shops
Trib Ulation Email? I may not have gotten it. To be fair we get 75+ non spam emails a day. Send me another!
KQX571 Cabelas is now owned by Bass Pro last i heard.
Helinox (owned by Big Agnes) makes great chairs. Their Helinox Chair Zero is the newer16oz. version of their popular Chair One. The Zero is ONE POUND.... FOR A CHAIR!! Wish I had a higher gear budget. I'm always drooling watching these gear vids. Lol
New store for me. Very well stocked with good variety. Could spend my paycheck there for sure. Thanks, Tony
I have used the folding saw, the same one for many years. I have never had issues with the bolt coming loose, the saw not snapping into place, or the blade bending while in use. I do recommend it for a budget pack
Never heard of this store and it's nice to see all these vids of you guys traveling keep up the amazing work

I love my store in Sioux Falls SD awesome store
Looks like a decent store that was in Utah?? That's a new one I grew up in UT..so much has changed since I left...👍👍
Love scheels and we make sure to stop at least once during visits to see my brothers . I just have to make sure to not go with a pocket full of cash so I don't walk out broke
Awesome daily video who doesn’t love shopping for that stuff like a kid in toys r us
The Smith's diamond for you is and awesome tool i carry it in my edc on belt with my speech sharp, ferro rod, and multi tool.
I have the smiths pen sharpener. I keep it in my edc organizer with my spare blade, etc.
Just in case i mess up the blade on one of my knives i want to be able to put a useable edge back on it.

That store is as big as the UK.... I could drive the island in 6 hours... from suffolk to the west coast in 6 tops.
That is true.
Headlamps are great for mechanics and do it yourself types. Great for dark corners or deep in the engine bay.
Amy D Yeppers!

lots of goodies there
Good review of Scheels. 🤙
The smith tool you pick up I had it for a year-and-a-half and it works great. I'm curious about all the things you are curious about.

I would love to be in that store with like a billion dollars and just buy everything 😄😄😄

Love scheels stop every time I get the chance. Wish they had cold steel
I wish there were places like that in vermont. Awesome place, thanks for the video. Outdoor momma should get that crossbow she was checking out.
Scheels is awesome. Nice tour
I would like to see videos of all the common stores survival items like the local grocery store, walgreens, gas stations, etc...
Scheels headquarters is in my town and I thought the flagship store was well stocked. That Utah store actually seems like it has a better selection. May have something to do with Utah having more hunters that backpack in for week long hunts
I have a Ruko knike... Its great, i really like it. Use it for everthing and haven't had to sharpen it yet!
Really? Must not be using all to often or when you do it is sparingly throughout the day... But "How I gauge sharpness" Once a Blade cant slice paper clean... I re-sharpen the edge.

Nice video, I wonder if we here in Phoenix will be getting one of those stores. $109 for a cook set it better come with Scarlett Johansson naked
They're opening one here up in the DFW area. Expected to open 2020
Chris, you will not be disappointed by that Smith Sharpener. Great for serrated edges.
Good to know! Thanks bud
Looks like a cool store. Better than the Bass Pro in Garland and Cabelas in Allen that I go to. Definitely need one in the metroplex.
we have Shceels here in my city, great store but I haven't been in there in a while, nice selection!!
I love scheels we have one here in Reno NV. any time I'm looking for something that's the first place I go, then sportsmans warehouse. cabelas is a last resort

Oh Wow!!! I could never go there!!! I would spend all my money and never be able to get back home...lol Cool store😎👍
I have one off the saws and its not bad for a bug out bag.
I would like to thank you for all the gear reviews you do
Thanks Raymond
Never herd of that store .... thanks for the walk through....
That lady gave your son the weirdest look 😂😂 she was like "what's Marty mcfly doing here"
This Store is so Legit!!
I’m so super sensitive to the taste of chemically purified water, I can’t even stand to drink tap water without filtering it first.
arynnoctavia You should probably look up the “Hydroblu Sidekick” its been on my Channel ALOT!!!! $16 does the same thing cheaper and smaller!
I wanted MORE...LOL. thanks, it was a fun vid.
The Leatherman Raptor rescue scissors are awesome.
Yeah cause spending over a hundred bucks for a pair of Raptors is awesome when my little cheap 20 dollars shears can cut through the same shit...
All i have to say on the matter is this. >> "Scheeel be coming around the mountain when she comes".
That place looked cool
Thanks man , excuse my englis, you have my suscription, and CONGRATULATIONS you have a beautiful family, God bless you . Greetings from Veracruz, MÉXICO
That place looked cool as hell
I don’t trust those sea to summit pots. The price is out there. Soon Walmart will have a clone. Personally if I’m going to spend an exorbitant amount of money on cookware it’s probably going to be Trangia duossal... (at least recently)
Hey appreciate the emphasis on the whistles
Never heard of them but it looks like a cool store
That place is awesome
Wish they had them out here
Nice! You should have checked out the cabellas in lehi Utah. It is huge! Has a restaurant upstairs in it and a massive aquarium. Saw a Thompson machine gun in there last time, it was sweet!
Scheels is nice. We have one in Fargo, but prices are high.
Nice video though, wish they had a scheals around here
Joshua Genovese They sold ZT, Kershaw, Benchmade, spyderco, etc as well
Great video friend, love the channel
I've used the Coghlans saw and own it. I cut a lot of wood with it. It cuts really well for a cheap saw. Also cuts fast. Not the best, but, I love it.
Waited for this so long,Walmart4life
Lifestraw: I would not pay more for the aluminum one, if you dent it, it's useless...
Not that you read the packaging for the aluminum, but I would stick to the plastic because it can take a beating just a bit more...
🦇
That's where I'm at.... UT lol cool thanks for the vid
Dude that place looks freaking dope.......🤤
I wish there were one of those by me, lol. That store looked like the combo you would get if REI and Cabela's had a baby, haha.
I do have the sea to summit kit. I drive a semi, so I feel like I am constantly camping. I bought it because I bring my girlfriend with me and it is a two or more people kit. I also have the $50 two pot stainless kit. I used ozark pot for $15 but it just doesn't last.
Ruko is a good beater knife kind of like some of the Kershaws
Very cool video buddy
Brother now that's a store. Did you say that was in Utah? If so they need to expand out like to Arkansas or Missouri.
the saw works good
I have quite a few Ruko knives and really like them alot. No problem with them. They were a little expensive where I purchased them at.
Wow. Never heard of them.
The Sierra saw is not bad. I would get an extra blade with any saw. Put it through a decent test and cut about a dozen logs, the size of thighs, without issue.
Good point... Always an Extra Blade.
DropForgedSurvival before I forget. Not sure what state you are in but if you have a Sierra Trading Post you should check it out. It's the TJ Max version of REI. I get some mountain House packs for $3-5. And those Eno hammocks are like $30.
some cool finds dude
Wondering why there is a Swiss 🇨🇭 flag on the Swedish 🇸🇪 product..🤣😂🤣😂 great video, greetings from Örnsköldsvik (eagleshildbay) where Fjällräven comes from.. 🇸🇪 . you should come visit their factory store... 😉👍👍✌️
You guys get all the cool stores.
here we have not such a store we have to buy online, i envy you.
Great Store.
Last few years all scheels are remodeling to look like yours.
you should get a Spydrco Bug, then you would have a super small knife lol
Haven’t been in a Scheels before, but it looks like a nice store. Was this in Salt Lake?
Dynasty Preppers Yes
That's a cool store
Ah man, this is epic compared to what we have here in the UK. This makes Go Outdoors look like a kindergarten. You can get a lot of stuff on line, but some times it's so much better being able to look and handle something before you buy. Sooooo envious
Fiskers made in America folding saws.
