the scene with Pinoccio trying to not lie while also saying the truth in a way that was impossible to understand is iconic. one of my fave scene in any shrek movie ever
I don't think there's anything wrong with Shrek the third. It has the same characters, and the same humor that we know and love. it advances the story of the relationship between Shrek and Fiona, offers some good character development as Shrek battles with the idea of becoming a father, and it offers more world building as well. It's a good movie, it's jut not *as good* as Shrek 2.

Watch Brother Bear (2003). It’s an animated Disney movie often forgotten about. I think you would enjoy it. It’s severely underrated in my opinion.

Yes! Shrek 4 is better than the 3rd one and yes, the “do the roar” line is very funny. Especially cause of the facial expressions 😂
I love Shrek's character progression in this movie. From being fearful of becoming a parent to fully embracing it and welcoming the ogre triplets.

I like the three first shrek movies, I don’t remember the fourth all too much except one of the best jokes in all of the shrek movies “do the roar!”

Shrek 3 is my favorite, lol. I guess mainly because it's the only Shrek movie I had on DVD growing up, and I'd watch it over and over. But also because I don't think a kid's movie has ever made me laugh so much as shrek 3, lol.

Hook was in Shrek 2, though he was a bit-part mainly in the background playing the piano at the pub. The Headless Horseman was mainly a silent character in 2, who appeared for a couple of gags.

Yeah, never understood why this movie is so disliked, my best guess is that since the first two were so good the drop in quality for the third caused the general fan base to overreact and declare this movie as “terrible”. Now don’t get me wrong Shrek the Third is arguably the worst film in the franchise but being the “worst” doesn’t mean it’s a bad movie, it’s still a pretty solid movie.
I guess this one isn’t necessarily bad, just the weakest. Even as a pre teen I remember not really being entertained by it as much as the first two. Granted I haven’t watched it in years, and some of the jokes hit a lot better while watching this reaction.
Looking at the RT consensus, the main issue is a lot more adult leaning jokes and pop culture references compared to the first two.

I actually love Shrek the 3rd. Not my favorite one but I still think it's a fun watch. Some really cool "cameos" and I love everyone that's working together on this one. Last but not least, that Snow White scene of her screaming calling all the animals will ALWAYS give me chills and get me pumped up 🤣
This movie has aged really well. When it first came out i didnt think it was that good, but it was really good. But the second 1 was the greatest!
You should watch the 90 s Gamera trilogy. They're giant monster movies, which I know you like, and it has religious imagery so you'll find that interesting.

The evil trees are just the classic "dark forest" stuff in classic fairytales like you see in the old Snow White when she's terrified of the forest.
Thinking about it, I’m actually very confident that Jen’s favourite would be the 4th movie. I think her style of movies fits the 4th perfectly

Shrek 3 is my most favorite movie closely followed by Shrek 1, i understand the dislike but it is the most enjoyable and rewatchable.
I believe the trees are either from Snow White or Wizard of Oz. I too don't understand why people hate this film. The first two are obviously fantastic but is Shrek 3 a step down, yes, but its still quite enjoyable. I really like this film

the best things about this film is 1. Donkey and Puss switch bodies 2. Shrek has plenty of comedic panic attacks about being a Father. 3. Good Music choices for the film but Perfect Music choice for Snow White Storming the Kingdom/Castle.
I always thoughtit a little strange how quick Puss turned against his originally charecterization to join Shrek in the 2nd movie.

I love all shrek movies, till this day i still dont find the reason/argument of why people dont like the last 2 shreks, i love them all they are so much fun to watch!
(This could be also because this is the only animated movie where i prefere the dubbed version (Portuguese, Portugal) over the original, THE ONLY ANIMATED MOVIE)
Though I thought Puss in Boots is ultimately alright as a film, I would LOVE for you to watch its sequel. Genuinely one of my favorite animated films ever

I’ve never understood how people think this one is the worst of the series. Personally, I think the 4th is the weakest and a little overrated.
