- Former IHOPKC spokesperson and crisis manager Eric Volz recently sat down for an exclusive interview to shed light on the unfolding story involving the Mike Bickle clergy abuse allegations and the future of IHOPKC. The advocate group has every right to request a truly independent 3rd party rather than a lawyer who boasts getting pastors and churches off the hook.
While the advocate group was spreading the narrative that IHOP shouldnt discuss with an attorney, the AG group was...wait for it...discussing with an attorney. And an attorney who specializes in shaking down churches for money.
Eric saying that 5 months before it came out public, he found out about it from someone connected to the Jane Doe and was kind of advising. then turn around and work for IHOPKC, wouldn't that be a confict of interest.

What stands out to me even more than that, is how can he disclose that information and timing, and yet have supported and defended the ELT in saying that they "had no idea the nature and extent of the allegations" when they allowed Mike Bickle to preach on the dark horse of false accusation, and in their purported date(s) when they "actually understood the seriousness of everything"?

My hope is Bickel get taken to court. See if he can use the “spiritual warfare” as a defense
For IHOKC to go with a so-called independent third party that's not in agreement with the victims is a BIG mistake. It means they don't truly want the full truth. Something is being still hidden. When you care about the victims, you take their suggestions by choosing the correct independent third party they are comfortable with.
This is like a toxic divorce where mom and dad have lawyered-up and the traumatized kids are only hearing legalese, restraining orders, and custody negotiations. This will never be resolved until dad (Mike) publicly steps up to the mic and truthfully and fully confesses and repents. Until that happens, this is all wordsmithing.

Even if a younger person or spiritually immature person "seduces" a pastor/Christian leader, the

And here are other examples.
A student tries to seduce a teacher.
Someone at a drug scene tries to seduce a cop.
A prisoner in jail tries to seduce a guard.

Whilst it is certainly the case that the mature person is still very much in the wrong if the young person / student seduces them, it needs to be recognised that scenarios where the mature person has groomed or abused their power to instantiate a relationship with a young person / student is even more egregious. I understand the well-intentioned human reaction behind your response to EVs comment, but it's is important to ensure that moral differentials are also recognised in legal framework so that the state can additionally dis-incentivize grooming and abuse of power.

If you’re using a state’s laws alone as your basis for modeling Godly leadership, that seems like a low level of morality. But if state legislation is holding secular leaders to this standard, it would seem to make a point that the Christian world should care so much more and not make excuses for the leaders in their communities who abuse power 🤷♀

So evil and unethical that Eric covered up his vested interest in IHOP music. Eric is and has been listed as a main investor in IHOP music for a long time. Volz is not his real name. It turns out it was always all about the money. I fear for Eric's soul. Let's pray for him 🙏
IHOPKC lawyered up after the leadership refused to act on allegations of sexual abuse. The victims rightfully views that act as a threat, because the advantage immediately shifts to those who have money to pay for lawyers. Any one who has been involved with our "justice" system soon realizes that the system can easily break your bank, and the process can be delayed until your bank is broke, at which time settlement occurs because there is no more money to take. The victims also understand that the accused parties can counter sue, thus putting you at risk again to prolong the process, which costs more money. It was a mistake to hire a lawyer to investigate. The victims were correct in refusing to agree with this investigation. Mike Bickle showed his true colors by not being transparent and honest to reveal the truth. Add the fumbling and cover up by the ELT, you now have reason to have zero trust in the leadership of IHOPKC to objectively find the truth and treat the victims with respect.

IHOPKC lawyered up when it was insinuated that one or more of the allegations was criminal in nature.
@@JonathanGrandt This was many months after the ELT knew about the allegations. They were given the opportunity to deal with this behind closed doors and they squandered it with incompetency. The leadership should have seen the potential time bomb and acted accordingly. But they never understood how to deal with true sexual victims. They were too concerned about the optics to those outside the leadership. Big mistake, and now they are reaping what they sowed.

i can't speak to the motives of other people. she's been with ihopkc since was 18????? so she could be protective of mike and the ministry? plus her family gets financially compensated according to public records i saw. HOWEVER it is very odd that she made a public statement about herself not being a victim. even if she was on a list, the public would never have known if she hadn't outed herself that way. @@Winter78ful
A testimony is only considered evidence when submitted under oath. I think some people are still waiting for sworn affidavits.
i replied yesterday but it disappeared. no one i know said she had stockholm syndrome so i can't speak to that. BUT she has been connected to MB and IHOPKC for many years and she and many members of her family make connected to these enterprises SO she could be biased. @@Winter78ful
We need to have physical proof that someone was sexually assaulted? What would that entail? I thought the Bible says with two or three witnesses let every word be established. That's all the Jewish people did it. If you have two to three credible witnesses all saying the same thing then that's the truth. Obviously we can also pray to make sure these three people aren't conspiring against a church leader😢
We should use biblical principles to help guide our way through troubles like this. Personally if someone claims to be a man of God and does something this bad I don't think they should ever be back in leadership. That's my personal position because God's flock of precious sheep are too valuable to possibly let that happen again. I recently found out how these American churches work where they have a so-called pastor over another pastor when really Jesus is the head of the church and we should all be following Jesus and confessing our sins to him not other leadership. If these churches worked the way the Bible says things should go where there is not just a pastor but a pastor and a prophet and a teacher etc you would have close people around you to discern any wickedness in the camp. This is how Jesus said it should roll

In my experience of abuse, it’s not usually done in front of 2-3 witnesses. That’s a joke! The fact that these women weren’t counseled to file a report to the police & that IHOPKC was trying to deal with it in house is disgusting & disturbing. I’m saddened that pastor team hides behind the gospel and Matthew 18. They all need a good job shadowing with someone who deals with abuse cases regularly, to get a clue! How about doing a pastoral job of compassion, empathy, understanding, asking questions and offering support….or just plain knowing when something beyond your scope of knowledge.

After meeting with Mike on various occasions, makes you wonder could he not discern something was off with Mike and that these woman were actually victims.
Eric came into a difficult situation. Bless him for trying to help.
What’s still needed is a 3rd party investigation that all parties participate in. The community needs all voices heard, and testimony cross checked so we can know the Truth; nothing concealed, and nothing embellished.

Many good points about financial abuse. Where theres so much sexual perversion theres probably a lot of financial things. Maybe if they can't send him to jail for being a pediphile, maybe mishandling money. I pray he repents for real, gets restored but not to ministry.. God have mercy on us all. When Eric said mike has his own lawyer , I hopkc had there's and the Jane does had there own. Out of his own words "every one is lawyer ed up" assuring this is just to find out the turth and nothing to be alarmed. No the advocate lawyer is to make mike pay for everything the way the lawyer sees fit and Mike's lawyer is there to get mike least punishment possible if not walk away scott free and to make sure the advocate lawyer is not taking advantage of the situation. I hope lawyer is to make sure it what ever mike fault is mike fault and they are clear of everything. And the advocate Lawyer is trying to find a link to see if ihopkc has any responsibility in it.

wow. i was willing to put on my unbiased hat and listen to this as neutrally as I could HOWEVER he has misrepresented so many details and in my opinion, lied about how things happened (ex: that 50 page document that he describes as being prevented to the ELT? it was given to ONE PERSON SG, in person, in confidence. It was an unfinished working document not meant for anyone else's eyes. According to the Advocates videos from their own mouths, that 50 page document was never supposed to be passed on to anyone else. That's just one misrepresentation of the facts) The discussion about which 3rd parties IHOPKC hired? BS. In this era of trauma and abuse allegations, a church CANNOT objectively investigate itself. By continuing to hire defense attorneys, the IHOPKC leadership lost whatever trust and credibiilty they had. Hearing Eric Volz's tone of voice with contempt toward Jane Doe et al BIZARRE that a CSA survivor wants privacy??? saying that proves that you are clueless when it comes to things like this. If you do not knpw the legalities of why it would not be wise for advocates or survivors shows that he did not do even 15 inutes of research into these topics. IHOPKC SHOULD be investigated for possible financial misconduct as well. imo The REASON IHOPKC refused a full transparent investigation might be because there is much to hide. EV was a "hitman" for IHOPKC and tried to foist a lie onto the Advocate Group: said that if the Advocate Group would not submit to IHOPKC's "independent investigator" (which was not independent by any means), that it was "on them". Bully tactics.
EV persisted throughout his time there by repeating the lie "independent investigator" as often as he could, to sow into the minds of his audience the notion that IHOPKC's legal team (the so-called "independent investigator") could be fully trusted.

The entire ministry is based on a heretical teaching called the bridal paradigm. It is an un biblical perspective that the apostles did not teach. Neither did the early church teach. It is a belief that every individual believer in the church is the bride of Christ. It has led to a romanticization, of the relationship of Jesus to believers. It has led to sensual lyrics and sensual music and even sensual breathy praying in the prayer room. I remember Art Katz saying that some of these worship leaders and prophetic intercessors pray and talk as if they want to go to bed with Jesus. Quite gross. I also remember being in the prayer room myself and hearing some of the women say things like ‘oh Jesus’ in a long and drawn out breathy overtone. It would always make my skin crawl.
God ain’t happy ..with leaders abusing their authority ..

He was obligated not to speak his mind for several months while everyone and their grandmother voiced their opinions while having no clue what was true. ERIC on the other hand, had first hand information and he finally had the freedom to speak freely. Glad he did.

Eric Volz is completely tone deaf when dealing with a third party organization. He simply does not understand that the Advocate Group was never obligated to give information to IHOP lawyers! There were likely crimes committed at IHOPKC!
It's good to hear the other side of the story, but the investigation report that was released reads more like a defense of Bickle and IHOPKC than an attempt to discover the truth. If the investigator wasn't able to do this due to lack of access, I think this should have been stated and should have been the primary conclusion of the report. As it is I don't really blame the advocacy group for not wanting to go forward with this investigator.

I’m sorry, you cannot statistically say how much prayer comes from where. Do you mean public prayer? Because y’all don’t have any kind of numbers for how many hours I spend in prayer in my house. The Bible specifically says that we need to learn how to pray in a closet in our house. Praying privately, if something that Jesus himself valued. That is my only negative comment so far in regards to this video. I’m thankful to hear your side of the story! And actually get to know you as a person. As someone who is willing to die for Jesus. I am encouraged that there are others out there who will stand for righteousness. However, I think that there are many many stories of pain and abuse that have happened over the course of IHOPKC.

I appreciate your viewpoint, but I perceive Eric differently. From my standpoint, he comes across as sincere. Hired by IHOPKC under chaotic circumstances, he managed the situation admirably. Personally, I wouldn't have envied being in his position.

Eric, I regret making fun of your blue shirt. Honestly, I bought 5 shirts from JC Penny that were similar (but had a buttonn down collar) & wore them to the office everyday for a couple years until they wore out. Seems like in most areas of life Volz would be a nice guy. In the case of this IHOP connection it seems he may have become a victim of a paycheck messing up his discernment. Hope he moves on to do great things. This particular situation IHOP Leadership failed so many, and Mike lost our respect.
