Would you be the Robert Follett from Weymouth,Ma that I worked with in Norwood,Ma@ Shaws' Supermarkets in the 1980's? If so great to see you are still with us.
Hey do you have the recording of the winner of the 1968 Dream Contest, St. Lucy's Cadets? They beat the Crusaders by over 2 points. Boston's 2 losses in 68' came at the hands of St. Lucy's.
Absolutely correct Ray, St. Lucy's DID defeat BC twice in'68. And you guys might have been the only Eastern Corp that year to do it. By the way, did you see Chuck Dohn's post? I drove Chuck, Steve Williams and Timmy Fogg up to rehearsal one day when I was in the horn line with you guys. They drummed on my dash board all the way up to the Community Center, best regards.
You want to talk fights? The ones between BC and St. Lucy's in the late sixties were the stuff of legends. Especially in 1968. St. Lucy's took the Dream and the American Legion nat'l championship both that year.
LMAO. Everyone knows the 1968 Dream contest was fixed for St Lucy's - corrupt judges. My father marched for Boston that day and he and others who saw the show thought it was a total joke that Lucy's won. The Boston Crusaders are a legendary D & B and will likely win the DCI World Championship in the next couple of years, given their recent rise and huge infusion of new talent.
And you, Alex Sowelho, Chico Fernandez, Eric Clark, Timmy Fogg and Steve Williams were a big reason that drum line was so great. Kudos to all of you, RIP Chico. 51 years ago and I'll never forget him, we remember when he was in the Post 88 corps with us before he went to St. Lucy's. Great guy, he would have had a tremendous future in drum corps. He would made the Cabs snare line hands down and been stellar.
Old school! Did not get to see them that year.
Wore the album out.St Paul Scouts had a nice book to.
this was the first time marching tympani were used in the field of compition

Also Robert, the Skyliners introduced tympani into their drum line in 1968, and maybe a handful of other DCA corps as well.
