USE YOUR BRUSH WASH WATER

When working on large sized paintings with large brushes and much paint, an awful lot of paint gets stuck in the brushes. This is far too good to wash off, and it's not good for the environment either.
So before I clean them under running water, I wash them in a pot of water.
I then use the water for my works - in this example as a base layer for a new work. I painted a lot with red during the last days and weeks and simply made sure to always wash out reds only in this pot. But you can also mix everything and then get beautiful gray and brown tones that are much more vibrant than the ones you buy!
And of course the longer you use the same water, the more intense it becomes...
