World's Oldest Democracy-
Malana village, a tiny little hamlet in Himachal that needs no introduction. Separated bypasses on all sides; this mountain-top village is known to be one of the oldest human settlements while being isolated.
Malana is famous for its Hashish - the Malana cream
How To Reach Malana?
The most efficient way to reach Malana is from Jari Village (23 Km). You can hire a cab from Jari to reach Narang the end of the road.
Then trek the 4 km trail to Malana village from the endpoint.
To travel from Manali to Malana, you can take the route towards Kasol via Bhuntar and stop near Jari village.
This Video was shot few days back and i will be uploading more episodes in coming weeks also will be sharing my experience about Parvati Valley.

The god here really isn’t jamadagni rishi of the hindu pantheon! He is a bhot (भोट) god ,not indigenous to india. The devi is Mahamai! In the local folklores the god’s name is referred to as Jamlu (जमलु). Some local scholars believe him to be Indra while some-say that he is Kubera the king of rakshas. He is referred as a king or राजा and together the name comes to be Raja Jamlu ( राजा जमलु). You will also find a temple dedicated to him in Hansa, Spiti.
He is believed to have brought 18 important gods from Manasarovara in Tibet to Kullu ages ago!
He is believed to have brought snow at the Delhi throne in the reign of Akbar when two pennies from malana somehow reached akbar treasury which belonged to jamlu! Akbar at seeing the power of this god had to stoop and return the two pennies which were stuck to each other!
He later gifted silver made ornaments and some silver ornamental elephants and horses which are still in Malana!
It has a rich historical background!

Jamlu is how locals address Jamadagni Rishi in the local language. He's referred to as Raja Jamlu after his conflict with Banasura, who was already residing at Malana. Still sacrifices are first offered to Banasura as per the agreement with Jamadagni Rishi and Banasura post their
conflict. The first so called democratic system has also evloved based on this same agreement.
@@KVlogsa its actually the opposite! The God himself says that he’s ‘Deu Jamlu’ (देऊ जमलु) through his medium i.e the gur or the oracle. And the reason behind the title Raja is the incident that took place btw Deu Jamlu and badshah Akbar as after making Akbar bow down, Deu Jamlu was given the title of the true
Pahadi Badshah by Akbar himself. That is why he is called a Raja according to my research and observations! Your narrative is true but doesn’t justify the reason behind why is he called a Raja!
The God really isn’t Jamadagni Rishi that I can say for sure!

Nice video. I visited Malana in 1986. Main building vaisa hi vaisa hai. Unke Devta ka naam hai Jamludev. Saal me ek hi baar mandir ke bahar laye jate hai... 1986 me vaha bijli bhi nahi thi aur log sabhi modern facilities ko resist karte the... so many things are as they were in 1986... Thanks for video.

@8:54 the three houses/buildings on the top, the middle one used to be my friend's cafe named GOONJ. Since the village is now doesn't allow any other person to open or operate a cafe, he relocated GOONJ to right opposite the malana gate.

Expense depends on where you stay and how you spend.
If you are a budget traveler you can get a room starting 600 rs..
In Malana you can stay in Baba Cafe or Cafe Bob Marley.. its on Malana top.
Stay in Baba cafe was 300 rs for common area and 1200rs for a private room

Thanks.. i just got back from parvati valley after spending almost a month exploring new places and treks.. yeah kasol is the safest spot in parvati valley.. it doesn't snow heavily in Kasol during that month so it would be fine 🤟🏻
