I am with you on that. I have the ultra and I am still waiting for that update. I am still running Android 9 with security patch from October of 2021. Let's see what Samsung or the Pixel watch have to offer in the next iteration.
Agreed! The watch is only as good as the software. It feels like I held onto my Ticwatch Pro 3 for decades waiting for Wear OS 3. It had amazing specs for 2020, but after time, things started slowing down and the battery started draining. I basically threw that thing away and got a Galaxy Watch 5 Pro.
Mobvoi with a very bad timing (no pun intended): after years neglecting Wear OS update for its previous models, the company announces the Pro 5 with Wear Os 3 on the verge of the Wear OS 4 release by Google/Samsung. It makes very hard for the consumer to bet on them once more (even worse given the recent past).

Finally a watch with W5+ Gen 1 which is a major upgrade over the previous 4100 chip. It is time for me to upgrade from tic watch 3 to 5. Hope it gets wear 4 upgrade soon to make it even better.
Waiting for September/October for the Pixel watch 2/GTS5/GTR5 to decide which will replace my Pixel watch. The less-than-a-day battery really is a killjoy on the first Pixel watch. Just hope Zepp solves some of their software niggles with the next version (BT calling and heart rate monitoring seem to be the most common complaints, plus very limited Alexa functionality). The history with Mobvoi and updates have turned me off from trying them.
The costumer support is horrible. They don't repair or swap and only offer a discount on the original price of the same product which finally is the same as the current discounted price!
Not too sure about Tic Watch, had the original E and E3 which was a great improvement on the E but found that after the initial six months getting nearly three days use between charges it started dropping to a day. I'd reset it, turn off functions, get two days and then after an update restart I'd be back to a day. In the end I've swapped back to Fitbit.
I had the first ticwatch pro and I Love IT. It finally died on me in April 2023. Almost 4 years later. However, I am torn between this and the pixel watch 2. My wife has the pixel watch and it's beautiful, but delicate. Ticwatch pro just gives you that peace of mind, especially for an active outdoor person, that your watch won't break. Great review
Pixel Watch 2 doesn't exist. You can of course wait for it, but it might never come hypothetically and who knows what you'd be getting yourself into. I'm not advocating for Mobvoi, getting a Samsung Galaxy Watch is probably the better choice here to be honest, due to Mobvoi's problematic history of not releasing any updates for their existing smartwatches, but there's no guarantee whatsoever, that Pixel Watch 2 will be a massive improvement over the version 1. And judging by version 1, it's unlikely that it would beat Samsung in any relevant aspect.
I am not authorized to say, but there were complications that were out of Mobvoi's control. I can say that. I wish that Mobvoi would explain the reasons to their customers. But it's not up to me.
@Jonny but that's illegal? You can actually go to trading standards to report this and I think you can actually get your money back as well by going through trading standards.
11:53 I think you were referring to automatically starting a walking exercise, not a daily step count. Daily step counts should automatically reset at midnight everyday.
I bought a Amazfit trex pro 2 while waiting for this watch. Got it for 120 from a pawnshop, new. Honestly, i haven't seen anything that would make me switch to this watch. Especially at that price and , from what I hear, no updates. At least Amazfit does that , regularly.
Thank you so much for the review! Looking at it, I don't see a reason to upgrade from my Pro 3, even if the extra couple days of battery would be nice. I'm disappointed for the lack of update to Wear OS 3, but I also know that's partially Google's fault for refusing to let them keep the Assistant and that's something that I do find myself using often, at least more often than I use it on my phone. Also I think that for the price they should at minimum also be able to do wireless charging, without that there really isn't any reason to update.
Does your pro 3 have an obnoxiously loud vibration for notifications? I'm trying to see if it's only mine that does it or if it's an issue with all tic watches. Thanks!
You're not missing anything with Wear OS 3. Look at how Fossil Gen 6 runs it. Mobvoi made a good choice on not wasting their time and longevity of the watch by upgrading to Wear OS 3. Majority of Gen 6 users are trying to find ways to downgrade from Wear OS 3.
So after waiting nearly a year for this watch after they announced the snapdragon wear 5100+ the missing google assistant is a real bummer and the update problematic is still not really solved so I guess I'll wait for the pixel watch 2 or the galaxy watch 6 but I don't have a Samsung so the pixel watch is my best bet I guess. I really hope they update the processor and do something about the battery life.
Love your reviews of smart watches on your spindly wrists 🤣 I had the Pro 3 but i just couldn't get used to the FSTN screen. Coming from Samsung watches i've had to go back to the Watch4 to get the lovely screen and rotating bezel. Can't wait for your take on the Watch6! Cheers buddy!

Ive read that in the past Mobvoi required you to pay a subscription to access some of its smart watch features , is the Ticwatch Pro 5 the same and you will have to pay a subscription ?
Mine arrived yesterday as an upgrade from the pro 3 gps which worked ok. This new pro 5 is riddled with issues even after you finaly get it to update its SW. Main issue is Bluetooth. It will not stay connected for voice calls. It also wont play my radio app! The old pro 3 does all this fine. I have sent my pro 5 back for a refund and will carry on with the 3. It would be helpfull if you cut some of the clever 'bad boy' jargan and actually tested it properly.
Just got one and my first impressions are that it's a significant upgrade in quality on the 3 Pro - the haptic vibration motor is soooo much better! So far Wear OS 3.5 seems just as good as on Pixel Watch. Just got to hope that they do better on the old upgrades front now they are starting from a position of a watch already designed for WOS 3!
Not for me, a watch needs a concrete support cycle and a voice assistant. Saying all that, I have a 1980s Casio that won't need a charge or a new battery....ever.
thanks for the review. Now I'm planning to get this one, but my s2 still working perfectly (although battery wise its less than a day now), its either upgrading to this or garmin instinct.
The maps feature looks good as you can use it for navigation. I wonder how accurate the sensors are. The Ticwatch 3 pro sensors were crap as per the video from The Quantified scientist.
Lot's of people in the reviewers of this watch I've seen complain greatly about their customer service but it's hard to find good data. How many have problems? Is it 1% or 50%? And are they complaining because it was a year out of warranty and they expected a full replacement? Where is the smartwatch reliability database?!
After finally giving in, and going with Garmin for a round. I'm having a hard time going back to 2-3 days of battery at best. I can very nearly get 2wks from my Fenix6X. I don't find that I'm missing any features honestly. Sleep/Activity tracking are tops for me, and battery life. Replying to messages I don't find to be that great on any screen that small. I dunno.

Good work Uncle Spurt and a bit of a coup being one of the first to post a review! Two questions - Does the vibration motor sound more discrete and less like an angry hornet in a tin can? Can you have the tilt to wake on for the coloured backlight of the LCD screen in smart mode and it not come on when do not disturb/sleep mode is on? I love my Pro 3 Ultra GPS but those last two were my major bug bears with it (that and never reciveing a software update since October 2021, let alone ever getting the promised WOS3 update......)

Morning Chris! Firstly I love all your reviews, so keep up the excellent work! 😀 I received my new TicWatch Pro 5 smartwatch yesterday (27/05/23) and completed the initial setup using the Mobvoi Health app on my OnePlus 10 Pro. Ever since I initially set-up the watch, I receive a continuous 'System update downloading' notification but this update but has made 0% progress in almost 24 hours of trying. I've fully reset the watch and tried and setup the watch a 2nd time, but this made no difference. Power cycling also doesn't stop this pesky download notification. So I'm now going to try pairing it with my old Xiaomi 11T Pro and see if that makes any difference. Did you have any similar experiences whilst you were reviewing this watch?
I paired my Pro 5 with my Sony Pro-i phone. Like you, every time I checked I was seeing a 'System update downloading' notification which failed to progress. I woke up during the night, and saw a notification that the watch was updating, and the update proceeded to completion. Checked just now, and the notification is that the watch is up to date with Android version 11, and Android security update 5 May 2023.
@@terrym540 I still have my Pro 3 Ultra watch connected via the WearOS app on the same phone, and I've noticed that when you have the Pro 5 connected to the Mobvoi Health app, it defaults the WearOS app to the new watch setup screen. So in order to reconnect to my Pro 3 Ultra, I have to disconnect the Pro 5 from the Mobvoi Health app. Not a big problem, but clearly there is still some communication link with the new Pro 5 and the old Wear OS app. Ah, the joys of buying devices as soon as they're newly launched! 😆
This is definitely on my list. Unlike some, the lack of an update (which is fairly nominal in features) doesn't worry me, although poor customer service would. Will do the research but looks to be one of the best, if you don't end up with issues early on.
Is there an option to use compass in essential mode? Please don't give me the answer without checking, because on the basis of that i am going to buy the watch Please also share the video of it if possible Thanks

Went for the Sandstone version and I must say, it's pretty good. Getting about 50 hours of battery life. Not keen on the strap but easily fixed. Had one freeze which requires a 30 second hold of the recents button, but just a better experience than the Pixel.
Great review (as always) I am in the process of ordering a pro 5 from Amazon & have downloaded the mobvoi app but am confused as the list of ticwatches to pair does not include the pro 5. Does this appear once you start pairing the pro 5? Please excuse the daft question
I have heard varying reports that it can and can't be used with the iphone. I have the ticwatch 3 and an iphone but want to upgrade to this if it is compatible. Can you tell me if it can be used with the iPhone?
Yeah that's too bad I know it's wishful thinking, but I do hate some of the other SmartWatches that don't have bezels on them, I mean physical bezels to protect the watche. I'm rough on my watches so I can't buy anything like that pixel watch cuz I'll break that thing in a day.
Disappointed. No LTE. No wireless charging. Weak vibration. Sticking with my original Galaxy Watch. Still get 4-5 days with that (without lte of course). But I so love the dual screen.
As for screen protectors to get for this - do you think one that fits the huawei watch gt pro 3 would work? their specs say they have the same size screen at 1.43"?
Can I use this watch without Google services on my phone (Huawei P40 Pro)? Especially navigation via GPS and installing new apps without Google Play Store on my phone?
Stay clear of this one if you care about software updates, because Mobvoi certainly don't. I got my TWP3 2 years ago with the promise of it getting an update to Wear OS 3 , and they still have not released the update. Don't expect anything on this device to get updated, but do expect to gradually lose access to 3rd party apps as they get updated to newer versions of Wear OS that you will never get.
Don't blame mobvoi, blame google. Look how it runs on the Fossil Gen 6 with a newer processor. You're doing yourself a favour by not upgrading to Wear OS 3 even if you had the choice. Have already received 3+ updates and been updated to latest security patches days before.
Hello, how can I solve the problem with the Mobvoi TicWatch pro 5 disconnecting from the Mobvoi Health application? Without discounting the factory settings of the clock.
I have a tic watch 3 pro ultra and it is crap. Too many resets, charging issues, they don't answer their emails. Seems like there's plenty of unhappy customers here too.
Battery life on this was shocking for me. Had 47% when went to sleep at 1145pm and was dead when woke in the morning at 7am. If you use some sensors expect it to die. Went back to my old Samsung Gear 2.
And don't ever expect an update.

Morning Chris! Firstly I love all your reviews, so keep up the excellent work! 😀
I received my new TicWatch Pro 5 smartwatch yesterday (27/05/23) and completed the initial setup using the Mobvoi Health app on my OnePlus 10 Pro.
@@terrym540 Cheers, that's great! It's good to know that the download will eventually be completed. Thanks for sharing that info with me! 😀
@@MrThomasCovenant You're welcome.
By the way, the Pro 5 is proving to be a great watch.
Hope you can get yours to work fully. Mine was utter c.rap and I have sent it back. Shame as I got it as an upgrade to my old pro 3 gps.
Shame they still don't use wireless charging. I guess that's how they shoehorn in such a big battery, there's no charging coil.
This is definitely on my list. Unlike some, the lack of an update (which is fairly nominal in features) doesn't worry me, although poor customer service would. Will do the research but looks to be one of the best, if you don't end up with issues early on.
I'd go Garmin over this any day.
p.s Sad owner of a ticwatch pro 3 waiting on updates
How is this vs Samasung Galaxy Watch 5 ? Will you do a detailed comparison video ?
It is the best Wear OS watch in the market. Amazingly great. Incomparable with Samsung or Pixel watches or any other Wear OS smart watch ⌚
Thanks another great video
Would be if he had 'actually' fully tested it as he would know the BT can't stay connected for calls.
Nice review, Tech Spurt. I tried to order one just now and their website would not allow a purchase...
It's choosing between hardware and software 🤔
Is there an option to use compass in essential mode?
Please don't give me the answer without checking, because on the basis of that i am going to buy the watch
Please also share the video of it if possible
Thanks
No Google assistant is sad, and guessing Google fit is gone too?

Went for the Sandstone version and I must say, it's pretty good. Getting about 50 hours of battery life. Not keen on the strap but easily fixed. Had one freeze which requires a 30 second hold of the recents button, but just a better experience than the Pixel.
Mobvoi couldn’t give a toss about the customers of their former flagship watch, so why should we care about Mobvoi.
Great review, thanks. I'm a smartwatch junkie so I've already purchased one. 👍
I wish they fixed the copper 4 tabs charging. My last one they eroded away and would not charge anymore.
You can use Facer, yeah?
how did you get this 2 weeks ago lucky sod lol.... that said the no google assistant and no wireless charging is a deal breaker for me
Great review (as always) I am in the process of ordering a pro 5 from Amazon & have downloaded the mobvoi app but am confused as the list of ticwatches to pair does not include the pro 5. Does this appear once you start pairing the pro 5? Please excuse the daft question
Hope you can get yours to work fully. Mine was utter c.rap and I have sent it back. Shame as I got it as an upgrade to my old pro 3 gps.
@@MartynDix Got it yesterday & everything seems fine up to press. Fingers crossed 🤞
Thanks for your infotainment 😊 Is the heart rate count accurate during exercise IE jiggling about? Is there an always on seconds counter/hand?
How big/small are your wrists? I'm at 6in and struggling to find a watch size with great battery that will still fit on my wrists. Thank you!
Would love to see a review of the citizen cz smart watch
Can you make test on swimming pool or in sea ? I broke my ticwatch in water also still waiting for wear os 3.0 😡
I've just sent my new pro 5 back. It was utter c.rap (esspecialy the BT). Shame as I got it as an upgrade to my old pro 3 gps which 'now' works ok.
That orange watch face with the people on it is cute. What watchface is that? 5:13
I worked on the google pixel watch 1 and 2. I just can say... I loved this watch.
I have heard varying reports that it can and can't be used with the iphone. I have the ticwatch 3 and an iphone but want to upgrade to this if it is compatible. Can you tell me if it can be used with the iPhone?
Does this watch count your indoor pool lengths ? What swim stats does it track ?
Would love to hear your thoughts on Amazfit GTR mini. Heard very good reviews but trust your opinion most on wearables!
Can you change the LCD battery saving screen for another LCD battery saving screen? Thanks.
My ticwatch 3 is amazing. Best watch i ever owened. Al.lst 4 years now. And use it 24-23 hours a day. 1 hour to charge 😆
I agree I have never liked their charging connections. Hopefully updates will come, that has been the other downfall. Thanks for the review.
HA ha ha ha ha updates right lol :)
Oh, you're serious? There won't be updates. Mobvoi don't even know what updates are.
You have more of a chance of a sleepover at Taylor Swift's than receiving a software update from mobvoi. Dream on brother.
Yeah that's too bad I know it's wishful thinking, but I do hate some of the other SmartWatches that don't have bezels on them, I mean physical bezels to protect the watche. I'm rough on my watches so I can't buy anything like that pixel watch cuz I'll break that thing in a day.
Just updated to wear os 4....
Disappointed. No LTE. No wireless charging. Weak vibration. Sticking with my original Galaxy Watch. Still get 4-5 days with that (without lte of course). But I so love the dual screen.
Thank you uncle Spurt... 👍🏼👍🏼
As for screen protectors to get for this - do you think one that fits the huawei watch gt pro 3 would work? their specs say they have the same size screen at 1.43"?
Update - i ordered some and they came too big
The normal gt3 protectors work
@@helterskelzer3883 ah - thanks, I ordered some ones specific for the 5 pro, due to arrive, so hopefully they'll be fine
Can I use this watch without Google services on my phone (Huawei P40 Pro)? Especially navigation via GPS and installing new apps without Google Play Store on my phone?
It won't be version with lte? Something like Tic watch 3 Pro Ultra lte?
great video as always one question is this better than SAMSUNG Galaxy Watch 5 Pro when it comes to battery life ?
Never buying TicWatch again after how they handled The Pro 3 WearOS Update. no thankyou
Wich is the best? This Ticwatch Pro 5 or the Oneplus watch 2?
Wouldn't have pegged you for a periphery fan🤘🤘
Hello there, does mobvoi/to watch provide updates; software and security?
Without discounting the factory settings of the clock.
it's a pity that there is no EKG and blood pressure :(
I have a tic watch 3 pro ultra and it is crap. Too many resets, charging issues, they don't answer their emails. Seems like there's plenty of unhappy customers here too.
Mine was utter c.rap and I have sent it back. Shame as I got it as an upgrade to my old pro 3 gps.
Cannot get watch to update any ideas 1:14
Yep. Leave it on wifi and on charge. Takes about 2 hours. Mind you, I wouln't bother. The thing is riddled with issues, mainly BT!
I get 5 days on Galaxy watch 5 pro. With normal use and everything turned on.
Ticwatch Pro 5 or One Plus Watch 2? Does One Plus update their watch?
I still love my pixel watch. In my pulse small is perfect and tic watch 5 pro don't have esim. It's only wifi
What about LTE version ?? Will be ??
Battery life on this was shocking for me. Had 47% when went to sleep at 1145pm and was dead when woke in the morning at 7am. If you use some sensors expect it to die. Went back to my old Samsung Gear 2.
Just wanted to ask is there a camera feature like the Apple/Samsung watch wherein you can see yourself on the watch before you take a pic?
Yes. It's damn handy too
