Amtrak Hellgate Line - F Interlocking to New Rochelle Rear View (GoPro)

- Well I finally closed one of the last remaining gaps in my Amtrak NEC Rear Window GoPro Series. This video captures the Amtrak Hellgate Line from just east of the East River Tunnels to the Metro North New Haven Line junction at New Rochelle, NY.
Things start a little slow, but the train then passes through the newly rebuilt HAROLD interlocking (now position light free :-( ) before turning up and over the Hellgate Bridge, past Oak Point yard then through the Bronx, over the Pellham Bay Movable Bridge and then finally on to the flat junction with the New Haven RR main line. - Авто та транспорт
Thank you. That was the Best 24 minutes I spent in a long time.
4:52 connection to the Bay Ridge Brooklyn line and LIRR at Maspeth
Chuga choo choo I'm a train and I approve this video!🚅
Nice seeing how much the class A track has welded rail and concrete everlast ties.
Awesome. Something I have wanted to do for decades!
Nice view of The Hellgate and Triborough Bridges.
Nice.
I really like posts like this but have never seen 1 from the East Coast before. 🙏
Thanks much
I see a lot of high speed crossovers here. These allow trains to travel from one track over to another one and not have to slow down. Looks good to me.
The ones in service are all Limited Speed turnouts, 45mph.
thanx mike this one is great ...
11:16 Hunts Point Market industrial track left side
Frame 16:03 to 16:50 is Co-op City, Bronx, NY my old stomping ground from 1970 to 2005.
Great video from Long Island City,?from the east side terminal of Manhattan to new Rochelle New York to the new heaven line metro north railroad. Great work!
12:01 - 12:02 Looks like there is a piece of track left over from the early 1950s re-connection from the NYNH&H mainline, and the NYW&B E. 180th viaduct.
I did not know this line existed
14:06 P&W rock train
Can wait the project has started soon metro north will run there I know the m8 will need a lot of testing before they get send there but there a question where I know it’s early but where the metro north at Penn station will be Amtrak or lirr platform
What is that building over the ROW at 11:31? Was that a station at some time in the past?
NYNH&H Westchester Avenue Train Station
Isn't this the tracks of the old New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad?
New York Connecting Railroad, which was part owned by the New Haven. I believe the NHRR was responsible for operating and maintaining everything east of Fresh Pond.
New Rochelle for 25 minutes for New Rochelle
No third rail so either pentagraph power connections or diesel locomotive.
In Hunts Point Avenue Sacket Ave Bronx and Pelham Parkway Pelham Bay Equrastin MNR Party City Ashley Home Store and Broke train
That third track (seen on the left) on the bridge is still used for freight?
Yup
There is no electric on the 3rd track to the left where the freight train was seen
I missed it, is Pelham Manor station still standing?
Pelham Manor had a Station? It is close to both New Rochelle and Pelham Stations.
@@robertewalt7789 I was a passenger conductor who worked out of South Station to GCT and Penn Station. Pelham Manor as I recall was an overgrown, abandoned or shuttered station on the left hand side heading toward the HGB. It did have a station sign still legible in the 1970s. I used the station as a marker in my preparations for arriving at Penn Station. I cannot rightly say how far down the line it was from New Rochelle Junction toward Harlem River Yard and Oak Point Yard. I do know this much that at one time long ago there was local service there to New York City.
If Metro-North is going to send some New Haven Line trains to Penn Station while opening four Bronx stations as a result of East Side Access opening up berths in Penn Station, then they should consider reopening Pelham Manor.
@@WakkoKakko I doubt there would be enough demand to support it. It'd be so close to Pelham and New Rochelle stations. I imagine the push back aganist it would be severe. NIMBYism would kill it. Residents around Pelhamdale Av wouldnt want a station next to their massive homes. Its only a couple mins to Pelham or New Ro anyway. While it would put a station in walking distance for parts of Pelham Manor and a little of extreme southern New Ro, not enough people around there would value that to make it happen.
Plus the MTA's limited resources are unlikely to be used expanding service to a small area already with multiple Metro North stations nearby, plus within 10 mins of NYC subway stations on the 5 and 6 line.
Is this regional 176 or 172
The earlier one xD
Unless the name changed thats HAROLD interlocking not F
Starts in F.. then thru Harold
Harold Avenue
Equariston
I see Amtrak is interested in one thing, getting you from point A to point B. Cleanliness of the roadbed? Too much money 💰 to clean and Amtrak doesn't care.
Front views are soooo much better than where you've been.
WTF ? Single track catenary ?
It's a two track line.
@@PositionLight The catenary appears to be above one track only.
@@farmerdave7965 It's above Amtrak tracks 1 and 2. No Catenary on the CSX track.
