Hi everyone! Let me know if you have any questions about materials in SketchUp in the comments below! :)
Can you put volume on the materials like you can do on Rhino with the available files that those websites give you? To make the material pop out and look more realistic and three dimensional.
hey justin, awesome video! would be great if you could show how to create something like a net or a chicken wire mesh using textures that you can see through. thanks! :)
good tuto
do sketchup have displacement option?
hello, i want to make a round wall with engraved text, do you know any way to make it on sketchup ?
YOU'VE BEEN VERY HELPFUL IN MY JOURNEY IN ARCHITECTURE SCHOOL. THANKS A LOT.
Great video. Going over the "basics" you always learn something. It's great that you cover every little button that we sometimes skip over even after using SU for years. Thanks!
Very helpful thank you so much!
Awesome, new stuff I did not know. Thanks. That bit about unlinked pins was great.
Just wanted to take a second to let you know how much I appreciate these videos. Just started using sketchup a couple days ago for deck plans. The way you describe everything and get to the point is so helpful. Although it's still a task finding and learning while trying to complete a project, I feel much more confident. Do you ever do live streams to help with specific questions?
So well explained! Thank you very much!
Great in depth video about materials & textures.
You're the man. Thanks so much for such a clear and efficient video!
I HV never seen someone who does the modelling tutorial better than you🙌
My best online tutor, thank you sir
Thank you so so much Justin!
Amazing tutorial. Love it.
That was really helpful. Dhanyawad 🙏
There's just something about ya! Thank you for your videos. as always, learnt a few new things :)
Brilliant video as always. Thank you so much. I'm a design student on my final project and the building's walls have detailed brick and flint work. Would I be best to split the face with the line tools and try and apply different textures/materials that way? I tried take a photo and applying it as one texture but it doesn't look great as it's not seamless and no one part of the wall is the same (angled brick work, windows, etc). Open to any recommendation but couldn't find anything on this. Many thanks
The last section of your tutorial you posed the question of "how to get collections to show up when you start a new model" Have you learned more about this? I am trying to streamline my SKP workflow and the collections tool seems like a great place to keep my materials organized. I use my collections in every model I work with. Something that has also been a pain is the process of saving materials to the collections folder. I can't just download a jpeg to my external materials folder. I have to save the image, create the material, and then save it as an SKP file. Not the most efficient workflow especially if I am trying to share this knowledge with coworkers when I doubt they will adopt this multi step process. Thanks again, your videos rock as always!
...sehr gut! 👍
Hi, love the tutorials. I am trying to find out how to apply colors from an electronic color material board Instead of having to look up the RGB numbers. That is extremely time consuming.
Thanks!!
r

do sketchup have displacement option?
Hai sir. Thankyou for the informative video.
My question is, why the sketchup file is always slowing down while adding and rendering the materials in it?
Please help me with this.
Hi! I have been trying to figure out how to pick a material is SU for Mac. I have 100 textures in a model. I want to apply the same texture to for example a chair. I want to pick the fabric and go to the new chair and apply that texture. In widows this is easy but not sure how to do it in Mac. Thanks!
pls how to put camera in interior layout
Hi sir!
The added plants from laubwerk plant extension could not be rendered in enscape , how can i solve this problem?
Does Sketchup 2016 have brushed steel?
You can keep it there by adding it to favourites then you don’t have to add it every time
Hi Justin,
I have just downloaded and tried this extension. It crashed Sketchup.
Can you help me get my materials window to resemble yours? Entity info, materials, components, styles, tags, and shadows all open as separate windows.
If you're on a Mac, they're going to be separate windows. You can dock them together by dragging them together, but there is no tray with windows on Mac
Thank you for the quick reply. My materials window looks different from yours. It does not have the edit button. Also, whenever I right click and try to edit. It tells me I need to add materials to the model before I can edit. I am not sure what I’m missing but thank you very much.
