Life Update. War. Wrist Pain. Broken Video Camera

- It's been a while since I've done an update. I promise to do them more often.
As the war goes on, I find it hard to cope. My wrist hurts and prevents me from doing my work and on top of everything, my video camera is having issues, I'll probably have to get a new camera, which is going to cost $$$.
I had big crafty plans for this weekend, but I can't do anything because of the wrist and the camera.

I can see you are close to tears in this video and I am so so sorry for all the hard things that keep coming your way. It would be wonderful if some of the larger companies that you create for would join together and purchase you a new camera. You are not able to raise those funds, and I know they would love to see their products displayed through your creativity. I know your wrist will heal in time. Give yourself permission to heal….. card making can wait. The world has not forgotten Ukraine, although I am sure it feels like it. Praying for healing, restoration and most of all an end to this awful war.

Hi Yana! I am still praying for you and your country. We have not forgotten!!! I had severe wrist pain a few years ago. The doctor gave me a steroid shot in my wrist just above my thumb. Within 24 hours I was pain free. Go to the doctor before it gets worse. :) Love your cards, your creativity, and your spirit. Pam
Have been longing for an update on how you are and how life is for my favourite left handed crafter. I am so eager to learn to stitch on cards and would LOVE you to do another of those brilliant cards where you show how to sew on cards the one white the roses was me absolute favourite so far. Hope you’re well enough to share some like that again soon.

when it rains it pours, as they say. I think of you and your country all of the time and can't imagine being as brave as you are to get through all of that. Sending healing prayers for your wrist and a magical fix to your camera! And of course...many prayers for the war to END.
Thinking of you so very often. When I'm in my garden by the yellow and blue flower bed, I'm wishing you peace. When I see my crafting table too messy to work, I'm thinking of you and the real mess going on around you. When I go to sleep and hear the crickets and a quail singing me to sleep, I think of you and pray for a time when you hear those things as you quietly sleep in safety and peace.

Hi Yana, I’m so sorry to hear about your wrist pain. I went through the same problem. It’s all the crafting, cutting and manual work on your wrist. I had to stop for a while and let my wrist rest. Also, I read that eating sugar, carbs or junk food makes the inflammation a lot worse. I generally eat healthy but I love my sweets. I had to cut down on the desserts and started eating more fruits and veggies. My wrist now is back to normal, no pain. I had the same brace you are wearing, it’s a good one. I kept it on through the night also. I will keep you in my prayers for a speedy recovery of your wrist. Hugs and blessings 🤗

So, so sorry, Yana. I’ve had the wrist thing and it is not fun, especially for a stamper! You are amazing, being able to do with your other hand. And the camera, too? Like you need that right now, right? Hang in there. We love you and are all praying this war is soon over so you and your fellow Ukrainians can reclaim your land and have life begin to return to normal. You are strong and united people. I'm so sorry you're having these setbacks! I thought I'd comment because even though it may be the least of your concerns, I can really empathize with your wrist hurting. Lately I've been having a lot of pain in my hand, so I haven't been able to craft and it's been driving me crazy. There's so much I want to do, but I'm trying to rest so that my hand can heal. I can only imagine it's worse for you, with cardmaking being your job, so I hope your wrist gets better soon.
On a different note, there's something I've been meaning to comment for a while on a video/IG post of yours, and maybe now is a good time, amidst all these troubles, in the hope that it might be a distraction. I've been wanting to tell you that in my opinion, you're the best cardmaker in the game for dark and dramatic cards (style-wise of course, not content-wise!). I think it's a combination of your designs (of course) and how expertly you style and photograph your projects. I tend to use pastels/lighter colors (and I absolutely love the projects you do with those too), but there's something so magical about the cards you make with deep, dark colors that I think no one else comes even close to. It's definitely been a big inspiration for me to experiment with those types of colors too.
I always look forward to your posts and videos and have so much admiration for you, both as a crafter and as a person. Sending good thoughts your way!
Awww, your comment really made my day (and my day has been very crappy!). I think I tend to navigate towards the dark colors in other things, too, interior design for example. My kitchen wall (one of them) is painted black and it looks absolutely fantastic. It is shocking to many people, but I love it. I also have many dark colored accent walls in my home. And truth be told I've drawn inspiration from there many times. There is just something about the rich dark colors that pops.
Such a lovely note to Yana. 💛 And, I agree with you. Her use of deep, rich colors is unmatched in the card industry. She is so talented and her artwork (card making) is so inspiring.

Why does your wrist hurt, likely carpal tunnel syndrome? If you don't already have one, look into an ergonomic (vertical) mouse if you use a mouse frequently.

I'm so sorry to hear this, Yana. Could you maybe have repetitive strain injury in your wrist? If you have a heat pack or hot water bottle this might help to relieve the pain. Hi Yana, sending prayers for your wrist to heal. Take a break from crafting. I love all your beautiful cards. You probably know this but icing your wrist several times a day may decrease the inflammation. I use to run cold water from my hand to my elbow till, my arm was numb then switch to warm water and run the water again from wrist to elbow until you feel the your blood circulating, end with cold water again. I did this several times of day.
I think about the war daily and hope there will be an end to this craziness of control by you know who.

I had surgery in April for a torn rotator cuff and bicep. It has been very difficult to recover from it. I'm also left handed. My surgery was on the left side. My right is disabled.

Yes, it has be such a tough time for you and your fellow Ukrainians. I am so very sorry for your pain and sadness. Please rest, take deep breaths, do whatever it takes to find your mental balance center again, in spite of difficult times. I agree with Deb Merlin (below) who suggested that you contact craft and camera companies who might be able to help you purchase a new camera or perhaps even donate one. Not only are you creating great videos for your cardmaking enterprise, but you are also a very real person-to-person connection to what is actually happening in Ukraine. For me, you are the face and heart of Ukraine. I would much rather listen to you than to the digested version on network newscasts.
