- Nehi /ˈniːhaɪ/ (pronounced "knee high")[2] is a flavored soft drink that originated in the United States. It was introduced in 1924 by Chero-Cola/Union Bottle Works and founded by Claud A. Hatcher, a Columbus, Georgia grocer who began bottling ginger ale and root beer in 1905.[1]
The "Nehi Corporation" name was adopted in 1928 after the Nehi fruit-flavored sodas became popular. In 1955, the company changed its name to Royal Crown Company, after the success of its RC Cola brand. In April 2008, Nehi became a brand of Dr Pepper Snapple Group (now known as Keurig Dr Pepper) in the United States.
This is great ! I grew up in Northern California in the 50's. Our favorite soda was "BIRELEYS" ! WE HAD PINEAPPLE, ORANGE, GRAPE, AND BLACK CHERRY, ALL NON CARBINATED ! IT WAS DELICIOUS. I'D BUY IT TODAY IF I COULD !
Nehi used to be a great soda.Haven’t seen one in ages. Thanks Eric!.😎
All of the Nehi flavors were great. The grape and orange were two of my favorites, but the fruit punch was the best. Canfields had a fruit punch called Tahitian Treat, which was just as good. Tahitian Treat is currently bottled by Dr. Pepper.
I remember my Grandfather telling me about how when he was a kid back in the mid 1930's he would grab a Nehi on his way home from school with his buddies.
Love watching the old video 📸 thanks so much 😊
thanks for watching my friend
Used to enjoy having a Nehi Orange on hot day when I was a kid nearly 3/4 century ago.
I was just gonna comment on orange . Mash made grape famous
I hated grape though, apologies to Radar O'REILLY
There's a few of us still around.. I remember all the soda pop ads at all the country stores and gasoline stations growing up in the 1960s.. Pepsi-Cola bottle cap signs, Coca-Cola signs, 7-Up, NEHI grape & orange...
Growing up in the 60's Nehi Birch Beer was always my favorite.
I kept waiting for you to mention Radars love for Grape Nehi in MASH.
I love Peach Nehi Floats, especially at the Gome of the "World Famous" Peach Nehi Float created at Scott's General Store in Iconium, MO.
thanks for sharing that memory
NEHI Grape & Orange, 7-Up, Pepsi-Cola, Coca-Cola were the drinks I grew up drinking as a child in the 1960s..We always had plenty of those, always in glass bottles.. We kept a stack of wooden crates full of different flavor sodas growing up.. 10¢ for a bottle at the gasoline station.. Get a drink and a pack of peanuts and a pack Tom's peanut butter and cheese crackers.. Later at home, with a meal of Fried chicken and mash potatoes & gravy.. Always hit the spot..
There's a NEHI bottling company building on Hillsborough Street in Raleigh NC.. Well kept and tidy.. I guess they're still in business.
Grapette was my favorite, but a grape Nehi ran a close second.
Thanks for the video. I first heard of Nehi soda from watch the TV series MASH. The character, Radar O'Reily drank grape Nehi.
I was about to comment that.. I tried it once.. not bad!
Nehi grape was always so great. It was an occassional find
How about Burley's. I was raised in Chicago in the 50's and there was weird shaped bottle called Burley's. If I remember correctly, it also came in a non-carbonated bottle. I don't remember the flavors, but there was more than one. While you are at it, look up Green River. Very popular in the 50's but faded fast after that. It was in many restaurants and is making some sort of comeback in retail as I have saw it in stores. My lunch for 2 years while my mother worked, cheeseburger, fries and a Green River at Jean's restaurant on 101st and Halsted in Chicago. Wonderful lady Jean, she took care of my sister and I as if we were her own kids. But then a lot of people took care of each other in those days.
Would it be alright with you if I credit your channel for the information I'll give about the 1976 Nehi peach I'm going to drink on my channel?
My Dad had a friend who collected all kinds of trinkets. One of his collections was an assortment of bottle openers shaped like a female leg with the logo for NEHI soda. The shoe was the end that served as a bottle opener, with a folding pocket knife blade also. I seem to recall that some of them had a cloisonne finish.
It was nice seeing and hearing about Nehi after all these years. There was another obscure brand of soda AKA pop lol that was an alternative to the major brands back in my day. It was called Ritz cola, or Ritz soda.. It was kind of popular back in the mid 80's, around the time all the soda brands switched from the tall slender bottles, to the fat glass bottles with a stubby neck, and that cheap foam material labels, that would easily peel right off.
❤ Nehi peach
Yes!! Thats what Im drinking right now…my favorite soda ever❤❤😍
There was a cola made in TN or KY called Ski. Would like to see one on that.

I remember ordering some Nehi, like back in 2009, in the mail, from the Sundrop Bottling company in California. Plus a bunch of other sodas from them. And they were so amazing. Then, heard they got bought out.....so pissed.
I drank Nehi soda back in Buffalo NY in the 1960's
