The speech in full was really good however the ‘blow up the WH’ statement was ill advised because it made it easy to be used as a sound bite out of context for the Right to use against her. When you hear what she says right afterwards, you understand the full context. Her main speech is ‘choose love’ but it was twisted into ‘choose violence’ for anyone too lazy to listen to the whole speech. This was the problem with the ‘reductive’ comment, too, listening to the whole conversation, she called the song reductive but praised Gaga both before and after that quote. Then all these immature fans twisted it into this huge diss when it was nothing of the sort. She’s a smart woman but her unfiltered comments sometimes come back to be used against her by her detractors

Too establishment. She loses a lot of us here and it’s when you realize she’s just apart of the people we always believed she was not so much for. In short, it’s a perverse version of herself. And so for me personally, I sometimes think and ask myself “was she always that way, or did she give in to become that way?” I believe I know the answer, but I still find myself asking the question. I loved when she fought uphill battles. These are not it.
How is it establishment when she’s literally talking about a revolution? That people will need to work hard and make sacrifices? That we shouldn’t despair but just fuel that anger into fighting the oppressors? Her whole career has been about challenging the mainstream and standing up for the marginalized. I don’t think we can really question her conviction after a 40 year career of challenging the status quo.
